@hisurferss I heard (saw) that too. I haven't seen or heard a word about the new Shonen Knife drummer yet. Since SK are going to be on a European tour starting this May, makes sense they would have a new full-time drummer in place. Still, very sad news - Etsuko rocked hard and she will be missed. I hope that whatever it is that took her away from the drummer's chair isn't too serious and she'll be back somewhere, sometime very soon.

@bottomOFair : Actually, Yamano-san is the one who is 49 going on 50. Etsuko (drums) is 32 and I'm not sure how old Ritsuko (bass guitar) is, but I suspect she is the baby of the band. But yes, my goodness, they all look far younger than they are and all are lovely ladies!
