Your parodies are brilliant, Stew!... and I love your covers - you're my hero!
Three years on, I was wondering if you've rethought the sentiments in this parody, however. In early 2007, one could be forgiven for believing the Iraq war was a failure. But since then, actions by the US, the Coalition, and the Iraqis have turned things around. Iraq has made a lot of progress in developing a liberal civil society.
You're too kind! So glad you enjoyed this (and my other parodies). I've got a few more in the works but not sure if I'll post 'em since they're more R rated As for Iraq, I'm glad to see some light at the end of the tunnel but still feel it's a tunnel we should never have entered. Afganistan & the hunt for Bin Laden was justifiable but tying Saddam to 9/11 was deception (even if he was an evil dictator). To me, the billions we've spent & lives we lost weren't worth the trade off. Thanks!
I don't. But our right to disagree and the freedom of speech we're blessed with as Americans is part of what makes this country great. Happy Independence Day! Stew
This is brilliant, and you sound just like Cat-it could be a hit with the current situation-thought of officially releasing it ?. By the way are you a Cat Steven/Yusuf Islam's fan. He was/still is one of the greatest singer/song writers of all time-would you agree?
Thanks for the endorsement, AA. This video might be included on a nationwide release but I don't want to jinx myself and speak too soon. I definitely am a Cat fan, otherwise I don't think I could have nailed the song as you said I did. He's had some incredible songs over the years, although this one has always been one of my favorites of his. I appreciate your comments and hope you'll check out some of my other 'voices'. Thanks again! Stew
Thanks. Glad you liked the vocals. The idea was to sound as much like the original artist (Cat Stevens) as possible. The lyrics somewhat mirror the original ones, only I've re-written them to reflect what I see as the political shortcomings of our President's choice to go to war and other decisions he's made. If you don't follow politics much, the lyrics won't make much sense. Still, pleased you thought it was a 'cool bit'. Peace.
Thanks. Matter of fact I am a fan of Neil's. I'll probably post a song of his one of these days so I hope you'll check back and let me know what you think. Stew
Thank you raaa. I'll probably throw another political parody together this year but have been working on a few others that aren't (political). Hope you'll check 'em out as they hit the web. You might also enjoy my mafia song spoof here on youtube-- "You just might get whacked tonight". Take care. Stew
You know I was VERY impressed with your vocal prowess and mimicking talents - then you had to go and ruin it all by getting political. Wishing evil away doesn't work, one has to confront it and defeat it. Geesh, even Harry Potter has come to that conclusion. Pres. Bush will be vindicated with time, just like Ronald Reagan .
I'm glad the vocals/impersonation hit the mark, despite the political differences we may have. By penning this parody and putting it out here in the public forum, I thought I was doing something other than just sitting home wishing for the war to end. I guess patriotism comes in many forms. I respect your opinion and love my country for allowing me to voice my own. Thanks for the comments. Stew
Bush- vindicated of what? There were no warheads found in Iraq. Prisoners in Iraq and Guantanamo have been tortured. Prisoners in Guantannamo hae no access to attorneys. The world hates us because some American soldiers raped women and tortured people! Our country is a disgrace. Bush has taken so many innocent lives it is like Hiroshima. Wake up stupid! And this video is gentle and honest. It is a beautifully composed song too. I could go on and on
You are an ass. He is politically accurate. Bush has destroyed this country and taken away civil liberties which our founding father's established for us in a little document they put together called the constitution, which isn't really that important an institution; it is only about 230 years old. "the man" wasn't even mean he used a beautiful song and did it tenderly and hopefully taught some people something in the process.
Sorry. I usually respond to all comments but must have been traveling when you posted this one. No argument that Hussein was a villian but he had nothing to do with the 9/11 terrorist strike. I thought the promise was to go after Bin Laden. We're now spending $5,000 per second to 'bring democracy' to Iraq. I'd say we could be spending that money to fix what's wrong in our own country first. Anyway, enough politics... I'm glad you thought the Cat vocal was up to snuff. Thanks! Stew
That was fabulous! Very funny. I'd love to hear more songs you've done to make fun of Bush. How about Elton's Texan Love Song? You sound just like Cat. That was great. THANKS!
And thank you right back for the endorsement! Sounding like the artist is my main focus but, with this neverending Iraq fiasco, I also wanted to offer up a protest parody. Maybe a second one is in order since "W" didn't seem to get the message yet. lol. Thanks for your comments! ;) Stew
Thanks alot for the compliment~ I've got a few other good parodies almost ready to post so I hope you;'ll check back sometime. Now, if only I could get Jon Stewart to do the same...
You're very kind, thanks! I've got some other parodies in progress so I hope you'll check back sometime to leave more comments. Just moved so I haven't had any time to finish them. Now, I'm unpacked and ready to rock! ;)
I'm not sure who you and BW are, but you sure made my day with your very flattering comments. I'll see if I can't post another parody or two in the upcoming weeks. Thanks for watching!
Quite a compliment, BW! I'm a big fan of Jon Stewart and The Daily Show, so your kind words are very much apprecitated. At this point, I'd even settle for an appearance on the Colbert Report. (Stephen, are you listening?). Thanks again, BW.
Hey Julius, thanks for the comment. Dana's always been a favorite of mine so the comparison is flattering. Next clip I'm posting is probably going to be a Paul Simon parody sung to the tune of Kodachrome. Hope you'll check it out!

Thanks. That's the goal. I'll probably do one of his other songs (rather than a parody) one of these days. Just have decided which one yet.
