I am privileged to have this pirate recording, and I must say the entire cast, including, apart from Price, Bruno Prevedi, Robert Merrill and Nell Rankin, was exceptional, vocally and dramatically superb, genuinely convincing and successfully bringing to life words, music and the characters they were portraying.

I was there in 1968, and, in my opinion and that of the other members of the audience, Ms. Price did not have an "off night." She achieved in this performance the drama in text and musical line that she did not in the 1966 performance. Some of you commentators are too young to have heard here live. Too bad!!

@MilKaf78 If you prefer Amelia it´s up to you. The spelling of the name in Swedish is Amelia, but in English Amalia. I think we meen the same, because I have sang it myself. So for me there is only one Amelia

and that is Teresa Zylis-Gara.

@FoggyRoad81 Yes, this was her last Ballo. This was indeed not her best performance as.she was badly shaken up. Her friend Martin Luther King Jr. had been murdered just two days earlier.

You know, one night she gave a recital and afterward she was backstage signing autographs and a man in the line said "Did I detect a bit of strain on the high B-flat in Vissi D' Arte.....petty, petty, petty. Her off nights are better than most sopranos best nights.
