The weather and mechanical problem actually, and the runway there didn't have grooves that channeled water. Hydroplaning occurred, and without reverse thrust, and landing on a ridiculously short runway, it obviously over shot it.

@Xerokedes ...the factual information is that No.2 [right] engine was developing significant forward cruise thrust during landing roll because neither of the two captains had retarded thrust lever No.2. Reverse thrust is not included when computing certified stopping distances. For many decades this same wet runway has been used by many different airlines with different equipment. In earlier times Trans Brasil had used larger and heavier B727s at this airport, on wet and dry pavements.

The accident was caused by pilot error. One of his reversors wasn't working. Aparently he forgot and the plane listed to one side. It's hard to explain but the crash had to do with the throttle and its several levers which have the reversor levers next to it.

The gas station was BESIDE the building the A320 crashed into, if you payed attention to the clip above you will notice he turns a hard left. Anyway, he didnt fly into the gas station and the gas station didnt explode, so whats the issue here?

East Midlands airport has the A1 motorway only 100 feet from the end of the runway, and in the 90's a plane crashed onto it.

Luton has a sheer drop onto a busy road at one end.

Heathrow has a busy A road right on the east end of it aswell.

This is how airports are, you can't just build them in the middle of the countryside.

Airbus would love to show this video on national TV because it shows the plane landing very long making it pilot error.  Up to now there is no evidence that they landed long. The FDR will show what happened and then we will all know what really happened.

1-Mucha agua en la pista por la lluvia. 2-pista del aeropuerto es muy corta. 3-Aterrizaje de avión muy rapido. La resultad es trágica.. Disrespect to the dead? The most severe form of direspect is ignorance, which is happening here, ignoring the fact that this airport is very irreponsibly designed. I am a professional graphic designer so it's my job and I see no reason to give my work to the media for free, I use to give animations for free to scholars, students or agencies working on air travel safety. It has nothing to do with a lack of respect. I truly feel very sad for the victims families. The goal is to try to understand what happened and try to increase safety.
