binaryspiral, the second set of wires go to the second coil. DVC stands for Dual Voice Coil, instead of having one coil like normal speakers this sub uses two, hence the otehr coil needed power, so it is being fed by the extra wires :)

Try putting a rectifier between the poles to switch the AC to DC. Then you'll have a massive 120Hz buzz and major amplitude.

putting a rectifier between the poles won't make it dc unless you put a diode before one of them.

Plus, DC doesn't make any noise :)

Without line filter capacitors, its just a steady 120 pulse-per-second signal. That would be a buss right around B below tenor C. Good call on the diode, forgot about that.
