I think it was all a bit of self destruction button in the end with in the band. They were the biggest band on the planet 79/80 then drugs, bad management the arguing with in the band, Chris getting ill but hey they all come through and are all still here today Rock 'n' roll. Deb is looking and sounding better than ever on their sellout concerts and with more to come I believe in albums and concerts. I do think they are getting the recognition they rightly deserve now. R 'n' R Hall Of Fame etc..

@crankenstein70-In September, 1977 they played a few shows in SF at the Old Waldorf. One of the shows were broadcast on KSAN, creating a terrific bootleg. The next time they were in SF was New Year's Eve, 1978 at Winterland where they opened for Reo Speedwagon in front of 5000 people. I don't suppose you had a video camera recording it for posterity?

@crankenstein70-From the bootleg I heard there was an entire issue with The Nuns. After Blondie performed "In The Sun" Debbie Harry made a point of apologizing to the Nuns and their fans for an undisclosed incident. My understanding is that there had been an altercation of some type between the Nuns fans and Clem Burke which resulted in the Nuns being pulled off the show. It's a bit vague but maybe you have some info.

Blondie really needs to put together a DVD of early live performances.

@ihasch i don't know what was going on with "the nuns"...i think they were a san fran band and had alot of loyal fans who chose not to attend leaving more space for the "blondie" fans...that night "blondie" was just taking off but hadn't arrived...i couldn't believe how big they got so fast...back then there was a lot of audio taping but not much video...

I saw that drained look from the 1st second of her on screen, yeah. I was hoping it was not the 70s-80s disease of coke zone-out and instead fatigue from a long tour. She is unbelievably gorgeous here.. breath-taking! And one of the more sexy performances I have seen of her. Her voice is so damn good.. she could have been Madonna had she chosen to be. The BBC (the Od Grey Whislte Test) broadcast live from Glasow Apollo Hogmanay 1979 - I was there - first ever concert at 14 - briefly caught Debbie's scarf when she threw it in the crowd and the Stratchlyde Police pipe Band played the bagpipes in Heart of Glass - still listen to Blondie in the car.

Wow! I didn't know this tape existed. I was at this concert and the second floor balcony was bouncing up and down so much; the bouncers would not stand on it. The Apollo was a great venue and Blondie were sensational live.

Yeah i have this show, you can get it on dvd, it was professionaly filmed by the Old Grey Whistle Test. It's not the whole show though but that's a minor moan from me as any vintage live Blondie is worth having.

There's bootleg versions of Pretty Baby that are like this. I took the opening interview part at the beginning of this, that prefaced 'Pretty Baby' from the Supergroups Live 3LP (radio only) set, which has a similar version to this.
