Liam is doing a great job playing the new Spartacus but there is just some episodes that it's just not the same with out Andy like episode 5 when Spartacus looks back and sees the whole arena being toast in flames was suppoesd to be a big moment because of his history in the arena but to me it wasn't cause it was Andy that we saw in all though great fights that he had in the arena not Liam. But besides that i think Liam is doing a wonderful job on being Spartacus keep up the good work.
Prediction-- season 2 will end with glaber and his forces surrounding mt vasuvius(sp) and the rebel camp. Spartacus and crew will drop down the Mt using vine ropes surprising and routing the enemy forces killing them all. Know how I know? Cause i know history. This series so far has done a great job mixing storytelling with factual history and liam is doing better than I thought filling the shoes Andy kicked ass in

I disagree.... I think because of the circumstances people are putting the show and actors under a microscope I see no difference in the writing or dynamics.. I think it is seamless however again it's the unfortunate circumstances that has many nit picking without giving a chance... I support the producers choice and love the show to let a few lack of muscle be a deal breaker! I think he is talented and the show must go on!

At 6 foot 2 compared to Andy's 5 foot 10, they really can't bulk Liam up too mich more. If they did try to make Liam's physique match Andy's Spartacus would then be one of the biggest gladiators. Liam would have to add a lot more weight to pull it off. Doesn't work with the character they've established in season 1.
Andy was 5 foot 10 inches and weighed 190 during his run as Spartacus. I'm 6 foot 4 220 lbs. I work out regularly and i look nothing like Andy did, because I'm taller. its quite simple, the taller you are the more weight and work it takes to look buff. Shorter people still have to work at it, but it's easier to achieve as they can pull it off with less mass. Liam is 6 foot 2 btw.

But it's easier for shorter people to look more buff than taller people of the same mass. Spartacus is not supposed to be the biggest gladiator either. He was referred to as both little and tiny in season one.
@kosyodanoob I saw it too. The new is pretty good. But he doesn't appear to have the depth of Andy Whitfield. But it looks like they are taking the character in a different direction, so Liam will probably bring his own take on it. But Andy is still the man.
We kinda get "Gods Of The Arena" early Crixus, unsure of himself, confused, not knowing his place. The story line mainly focuses on Spartacus and we miss out on Batiatus' weaselly ways. The first episode seemed a tad disheveled and somewhat pointless, like a extra long preview of the first episode if that makes any sense. Plots and scheming combined with a love story is what made the first two seasons interesting. Non of that was in the 1'st ep but I'm sure there will be to come. I give it a B-

I think Liam will pull it off. This season is all about Spartacus' leadership and revenge. Andy was the best Spartacus you could ever have. But, season 1 Spartacus is a lot different from season 2. Going from a slave who is angry, alone, and seeking escape to a man who must become a leader and probably say some corny stuff. New actor for a new Spartacus might just work.

Andy vs Dustin Clare Would be epic! but I am afraid The new guy just wont have the same impact..
They're using a lot of different music from around the region. Some North African, some Arab, etc. I don't know if it exactly fits old Rome, but you've got to remember Rome itself was a very diverse empire. Plus, the music matches pretty well as far as I'm concerned, it has an 'ancient' feel to it.
I can't wait for that Clavis fuckface (the one that took Spartacus out of Thrace in the first season) to get what's coming to him, I'm tired of him getting away with what he did for so long.
Also, fuck yeah Gannacus is back! Thumbs up if you're excited for Spartacus vs Gannacus!

The war has not yet begun. Glaber was dispatched to Capua in the scene just after that fight. I'm guessing the battles get larger as the season and series continue.

@biohazardcedriccc Andy was not that tall. People seem to forget Andy was not that big either. He was more defined than Liam is. But it's easier for shorter people to look more buff than taller people of the same mass. Spartacus is not supposed to be the biggest gladiator either. He was referred to as both little and tiny in season one.

We kinda get "Gods Of The Arena" early Crixus, unsure of himself, confused, not knowing his place. The story line mainly focuses on Spartacus and we miss out on Batiatus' weaselly ways. The first episode seemed a tad disheveled and somewhat pointless, like a extra long preview of the first episode if that makes any sense. Plots and scheming combined with a love story is what made the first two seasons interesting. Non of that was in the 1'st ep but I'm sure there will be to come. I give it a B-

I think Liam will pull it off. This season is all about Spartacus' leadership and revenge. Andy was the best Spartacus you could ever have. But, season 1 Spartacus is a lot different from season 2. Going from a slave who is angry, alone, and seeking escape to a man who must become a leader and probably say some corny stuff. New actor for a new Spartacus might just work.

@mattcornford1 He can have the same impact if you allow him to be Spartacus. If for you Spartacus died with Andy, Liam can win multiple Emmys as Spartacus and you still won't think he's good. It will be different no doubt, but the writing will not change. The soul of the character will remain the same. It's a unique situation, one that requires a more open mind from the fans.

I have to admit, I wanted to see the proper Spartacus on this path (Andy Whitfield) leading the rebellion, nothing against the new guy, but Andy's superb acting made us want him to get "Vengeance" ...And apparently Spartacus faces Gannicus at some point.. Andy vs Dustin Clare Would be epic! but I am afraid The new guy just wont have the same impact..

They're using a lot of different music from around the region. Some North African, some Arab, etc. I don't know if it exactly fits old Rome, but you've got to remember Rome itself was a very diverse empire. Plus, the music matches pretty well as far as I'm concerned, it has an 'ancient' feel to it.

@2012myfight Was that a massive battle? Not to be rude but it's just the beginning of the first episode. This entire season centers on the beginning of the Third Servile War. The war has not yet begun. Glaber was dispatched to Capua in the scene just after that fight. I'm guessing the battles get larger as the season and series continue.
