what's wrong with the music? I haven't played the game but got the soundtrack. it's filled with a bunch of Orchestrated/Power Metal...I guess that's the prob? Basically, the player has a number of groups, 5 different characters in each MAX. The bar at the top shows moral, if the blue moral is higher, attack is more effective, if red, then the enemies attack is stronger. Players can only battle once in engagement. But groups can leave engagement to heal themselves or others. But once the enemy attacks them, moral heavily drops :)
why couldnt they just put the fighting system from final fantasy series , and put some more effect at skills , not a jacked up turn base final fantasy style strategy combat ? i rly have to save my money for dead space , i dont want to do the same mistake as i did with the witcher , damn , that has a kotor ... neverwinter nights combat system ,only that ur guy has the most ridicoulas fighting stances/attacks

there is a hack for pc version that allow you to change yr party inventory but there's no effect on its usage. like give Dave new sword with higher dmg but when he makes dmg it'll be the same from his last equip. :P

@Demoncleanerrr this made me laugh, so thanks for that! i don't understand why some people see it as some arbitrary rule that rpgs must have turnbased combat. i don't see how making choices in a story or having stats means that it MUST be turnbased. Original pen and paper role playing games used dice to simulate chance because it was the easiest way to make boundaries and rules for their imaginations .I just prefer more freedom in my movement and action, good for you for liking tactical gameplay
@NecromancerDerlin Actually, the whole point of Turn based battles is to be able to give commands to every member of a party. Playing an action based combat system, that is very nearly impossible to facilitate, thus why ever action RPG has other party members being controlled by the games AI.

Sounds pretty cool. I enjoy the occasional JRPG and they are almost non-existent on the PC. On top of that the 360 version was panned for performance issues that *hopefully* shouldn't be an issue with modern PCs. Beyond that I remember most of the reviews beging quite positive. I think this is also one of the first SquareEnix releases on the PC in YEARS now. Hopefully this is just the beginning of a courtship between them and the PC platform.

this game looks amazing, and all the frame rate issues are solved if you install it to the xbox harddrive - the frame rate problem is due to the xbox having trouble handling this incredibly powerful game. and if you install it, it can handle it. After I finish Lost Odyssey, I'm getting this!!

I played final fantasy 7 when I was younger, I tried to go back and play it a while ago but the graphics are just too bad for me to take it seriously. Also, I don't like call of duty lol. It's just as overrated as halo and final fantasy.

this game looks amazing, and all the frame rate issues are solved if you install it to the xbox harddrive - the frame rate problem is due to the xbox having trouble handling this incredibly powerful game. and if you install it, it can handle it. After I finish Lost Odyssey, I'm getting this!!

Im not into the war console thing but Square Enix shouldnt of let a problem like this go. It doesnt really matter if its delay as long as the problem is fixed. Its like using the 360 as a test subject, it is not fair for gamers... Thats why I said I will wait for the PS3 release to see if the problem is solved, then I will buy it. Otherwise, I made a good choice on not wasting my money on something defected...

Hey! Don't take my word for it(there are many reviewers who rated this game low)! I want the best value for my money, thats all. If you can stand the problems and lag issue, then this game will not be a problem for you. Enjoy the game...

Lag issue and it is coming out tomarrow... Thats horrible. They should of fixed the problem. There are new vids on gametrailer, and it is the same lag issue... might as well wait for the PS3 version. Hopefully, they will fix it.

because ps3 fanboys both bash games that come on the 360 first (until a ps3 verison of the game comes out and claim that its 'superior') and xbox 360 exclusives (have you seen the comments they made about left 4 dead, gears of war 2, and fable II on metacritic's user reviews? talk about pitiful :P)

i was considering buying this game, but after seeing the mediocre reception, i might have to pass it just like i did with infinite undiscovery. imo, tales of vesperia is one of the best rpgs for the system. consider that jrpg instead

I played final fantasy 7 when I was younger, I tried to go back and play it a while ago but the graphics are just too bad for me to take it seriously. Also, I don't like call of duty lol. It's just as overrated as halo and final fantasy.

I know the graphics were top notch for it's time but that doesn't help anything lol. I know the storyline is pretty good but the graphics are so bad that I just can't take it seriously. Turn-based combat is also boring after a couple hours. I'm 17 btw.

looks pretty cool. This is a turn-based rpg with strategic elements in it. It's not halo or ninja gaiden. the gameplay for what it is looks very promising.

the thing is i cant believe they brought back the screen that loads up the battle , it may not be random battle but when you come in contact with a enemy it does the screen like the old rpg games like in ffx it was the screen breakin glass , that frustrates me

well, it seems this player chose to take on a lot of enemy units at once, I guess about half of the screen where he was at the time.
Can't know for sure though, but I think about two of these massive battles and you're area is cleared ^^
