  • wow i played most of the games on this list all the time back then, but one i did forget about... STUNTS!!! thank you for the reminder whoever posted this video, i used to build tracks endlessly on my dads 1st laptop (thing was a tank!) on the most eye straining and damaging screen, and loved every second of it. that track editor had me hooked on level editors ever since.

  • No XCOM, utter fail list

  • OI! imma letcha finish but ultima VII Defined dos gaming

  • Great roundup!!

  • I had all of these games in my 3.5" floppy collection :) except pirates i never played that one

  • Gosh! i still have them all in their original package except, Commander Keen, Stunts and Jazz Jackrabbit!

  • One of the Police Quest games should be here!

  • this is just fucking beautiful!

  • I first played syndicate on the SNES, i never realised it was a DOS game, what a tool! lol

  • No 7th guest? wtf?

  • I could, but I won't, because if I do cry my daddy won't let me play the 'puter and I really want to now :)

  • Wing Commander...my favorite game series EVER. Time for a remake with HD graphics!

  • 20 games in list isnt enough there are too many

  • I don't think Commander King or Jazz Rabbit defined anything. Other than how shareware titles could copy the consoles. The other titles are pretty okay though..

  • Jazz jackrabbit DOOM and wolfe 3d where the shit.

  • tongue of the fatman should be on da list..

  • No Secret Agent ? Shame

  • you forgot Battle Isle ;)

  • JILL OF THE JUNGLE! COMMANDER KEEN! DUKE NUKEM! Those are the games I used to play ALLLLLL THE TIME on MS-DOS!

  • Constructor :D

  • O_O beauty..

thank you very very much for upload :)

  • Never forget!

  • Thumbs up if you remember playing that old ass Duke Nukem

  • oooooh my GOD what a memmories !!!!

  • Can you give the name of the song, it's very cute !

  • @200scv: I'd love to tell you, but I forgot it... it's from a video game but I can't remember which one...

  • @applemctom I think I've heard a song very similair in Lemmings. Is that where it's from?

  • @applemctom its ok man, you're free to go

  • @200scv its "oh little town of bethlehem"

  • @Rapmixup : Thank you :)

  • @200scv It's a Christmas song. Not sure which. Sorry I can't help further

  • @200scv

Fortunately I remember. It's from the Xmas version of Lemmings.

  • @200scv The tune is a Hymn, Oh Little Town of Behtlehem with a sample of the movie theme from The Good the Bad and the Ugly. It was (I think?) used in the original Lemmings game.

  • @GodofBlizzard: wow, thanks a lot!

  • @200scv The tune is called Forest Green

  • @200scv you can downloaded it with a youtube-mp3 converter

  • I havent heard of half of these games, I wouldnt say a lot of these "defined" DOS gaming. Sierra dominated DOS, a good portion of the list should be Sierra games, like Police Quest and Space Quest, I didnt know a single person who played DOS games and didnt have Police Quest. Then there was a little game called Warcraft.

  • The best part of DOS gaming for me as a kid was the Sierra games. Kings Quest, Hero's Quest (before they had to rename it Quest for Glory), Codename Iceman. Stuff like that. I've found out that trying to go back to those games I just don't have the patience for them anymore XD. "Ask about Baba Yaga" Oh Spielburg how I miss thee. TT-TT

  • I've played maybe, half the games on this list when I was a kid.

  • No X-Com?

  • @soviet35 duh?! Thank you. I've been waiting for an updated X-com for years! Xcom 3 really blew, like Stacon 3, weak...

  • I love to know what song is this cuz i LOVE IT!

  • DUKe3d, magic carpet ? should be on the list

  • i'm so pleased that you saved the best until last :)

    thank you!

  • 20 games are not enough to define a wonderfull age of criativity and design such as the DOS Gaming. Titles as Indy 500, Test Drive I, Bard's Tale and countless others franchises all have their part in creating such great memories that is worth to carry to eternity. Thanks for posting this video.

  • yeah nice... well done. bout time i saw syndicate and jazz get some air time :)

  • yeah nice... well done.

  • I'm looking to get into classic DOS games. I've singled out the Tandy 1000TX as the

machine I want. 640K, 8MHz, 80286, VGA/Tandy, 8-bit AdLib/Tandy DAC, which games shown here will work on those specs?

  • @dkyx that may be true, but the first Elder Scrolls brought a whole new generation into the rpg world with Skyrim being one of the most anticipated games of 2011

  • nice list. I'm sure I could nitpick, but it's a fairly representative list. Just a pinch heavy on adventure games, but that's to be expected for the era.

  • Lol Lemmings XD

  • PRINCE! KEEN! JAZZ! LEMMINGS!

    OH, YEAH!!!

Should this little compilation also include SCORCH(ed Earth) and SKYROADS, I would have no questions!

  • Man do I miss PC gaming days! The days where game developers were always 1 generation ahead console games thanks to better and faster software. Not like today where there's no such thing as exclusive PC games anymore. Developers will not release games on PC just because they wanna avoid piracy and release crappier graphic games for consoles instead.

  • uhhhh....WHERES WHIPLASH/FATAL RACING! IT WAS BURNOUT ZERO!

  • i no see no elder scrolls...... WHERE MY ELDER SCROLLS BE!?!?!?!?!?

  • @DarkPhaenixCreations Wasn't a defining pc rpg game back in the day, that honor goes to Eye of the Beholder 2 (which isn't in this video either).

  • you forgot fucking sam and max hit the road you assbrush

  • No Warcraft?

  • SYNDICATE!! HELL YEAH!!

I think Scorched Earth should've replaced one of the other ones, though.

  • Dune, lemmings <3

  • I remember most of those games and have played several on Dosbox since... They are so much more unforgiving than I remember...

  • where is command and conquer?

  • DOOM 3D THE BEST EVEEEER!!!!

  • @sollnik there is nothing called doom 3d there is a game called wolfenstein 3d and one other called doom, take your pick

  • @gruffgruff92 i'm sorry...but in italy there was a dos game called doom3d search it!! XD

  • @sollnik Doom 3D wtf

  • Great selection ! Could you please add starting times of each game ? Thanks!

  • Good list, olayed them all. also, love the music :)

  • YES! God, this takes me back! Monkey Island, Wolfenstein 3-D, Leisure Suit Larry, SYNDICATE!!!....

Ohh, I wish I could play these games again. I don't care how dated the graphics and sound are. If we can play ROMS and console-downloads of old NES and Sega Master System games, why not the old PC games?

  • @organs well, actually you can. just get the dosbox

  • @siabadaba hey man i tried downloading the dosbox and it won't let me can you help me out ? i really wana play dos games :((

  • @organs I may be late, but find DosBox. It's an open source DOS emulator, which also emulate graphic card and sound card. It also include a slowing down feature for games that run too fast on modern system.

I never found any MS DOS game that doesn't work on Dos-Box, though there is never 100% compatibility.

Also there is plenty of abandonware games, and also games like Battle Chess, Bio Menace, or Duke Dukem 3D that are now downloadable legally for free on the editor's websites!

  • ultima + wing commander + syndicate plus = creative cd

  • simon the sorcerer 1 and 2 duke nukem 1 and 2 pharoahs tomb crystal caves electroman gobliiins god of thunder picklewars rodents revenge - windows but still a crazy game scorched earth spitwad willy and zool

  • awesome, but you forgot... arctic adventure biomenace discworld full throttle hocus pocus indy jones FOA and TLC jetpack all jill of the jungle keen all lemmings loom microman - any1 play this, awesome game sierra mini golf - hit things and get reactions from the maps ftw one must fall both prince of persia 1 and 2 dr riptide secret agent sam and max hit the road simon the sorcerer teen agent - great point and click adventure game the black cauldron yobi's basic spelling aladin
  • One word, nostalgia.

  • A good thing dune II is in there. Not including it would have been a sin worthy of calling a Jihad.

  • 1:49 i love the music plus doom xD

  • Prince of Persia was not originally a DOS game.

And what the heck is Alley Cat Valley?

  • Synicate was on Atari ST and AMIGA first ;) Great game :)

  • I spent hours on Kings Quest 1, 2 and 3. Space Quest 3, Leisure Suit Larry, Prince of Persia, Commander Keen, Wing Commander 3, Wasn't fortunate to play Monkey Island properly. Lemmings is always going to be great. Wolfenstein I play abit, preferred Doom. Syndicate was cool but I found it to hard. Jazz Jackrabbit was fun too.

  • Jazz, Duke, Doom...CLASSICS!!!!

I was really hoping that they would create NEW Jazz and Duke for PC, 360 or PS3. :(

  • @bruceld Duke Nukem Forever will come out in 2011

  • What an excellent video! This is history - thank god people like you are making video's like this!

  • the good old Pirates ilove it still today

  • very cool didnt know that pirates was on dos, I have a boxed verson of it on nes.

great video ! loving the blast from the past .

  • A few of these games started on other platforms, but great video nonetheless! DOS was a great system for adventure games.
