The artist that did this unholy album cover is the very eccentric genius Hans R. Giger, the one who designed the alien creature from the movies back in 1979. He also designed the classic album cover for Celtic Frost: To Megatherion.

This is Grindcore from the Swiss Lord of Distortion and Snarls, and close friend of H.R. Giger. Grindcore is to me a more masculine antidote to all the efiminate nu-metal. Thomas is Down in the Pit, NOT Down with the Sickness. Metal, I think, has always been done with more soul and gusto by the working class Brits, Scandinavians, and Europeans, and not by middle class white Americans.

I have only listened to the first two songs (just got into them) but must say, this is one of the absolute best atmospherically dark songs I have ever heard, no exaggeration. If the rest of the album is just as amazing then this is surely one of the best metal albums ever!

@Simo606 Well actually it is... When Celtic Frost died, and did not reincarnate again, the last few albums continued living in Triptykon. Since Celtic Frost allready was awesome in being Triptykon is more the pure darkness Tom tried to discribe wich he couldnt in Celtic Frost. Therefor the Artwork is allready crazy and completely fitting to the album. Wich makes even also the outside of the cd holder awesome, and if you buy the cd and take a look at the cd itself you'll know what i mean!

Saw 'em at Wacken as well. Didn't know them before, one of the best discoveries of the year. A friend got the CD at the Metal Market. Comes with a nice booklet explaining the origin of the songs.

@symxfan It' was painted by H.R. Giger and it's called "Vlad Tepes" AKA Vlad the Impaler (AKA Dracula). He earned his nickname by impaling his enemies, which often involved more or less sitting someone on a wooden stake and letting gravity slowly impale them over the course of a few days. So I guess the cock is going with the impalement theme.
