You know, if I had never even played or heard of Chrono Cross, and I heard this song, I would be able to tell you instantly and without hesitation this song feels like running through an ancient, majestic forest. THAT, my friends, is how to tell a song is music.
I was tortured as a kid. When I was about five, I had to watch my dad play this awesome game and I wasn't allowed to because of my stupid over-protective mom who said it was too violent, but yet she let me watch my dad play. I wanted to play this so bad, I thought it was an awesome game. And I didn't even know how to read yet
The last game that even affected me rpg wise was Lost Odyssey.. FF13 was a huge letdown. I miss the times when rpgs would take you outside of your reality when you needed to get away for a few hours.
The age when games transported you to another world. Games like Chrono Cross made you feel you were more than playing a game, you were embarking on a never ending journey of beautiful music, amazing characters, and a passionately written story.
I still prefer music without ANY type of voice whatsoever.. just lots of pure music like the Chrono Trigger soundtrack.. Ridge Racer Type 4 also has a godly track
@outlaw87100 Chrono Trigger's OST is filled with chorus patches just like the one in this song. Listen to the very beginning of Black Omen or Manoria Cathedral, for example.
I love this song. It introduces you to this strange dangerous place of the name Shadow Forest. Which is in never ending darkness because of it's tall trees an fog. The echoes of the voices are fitting because of the forest. Too put simply. This song suits the area.
I adore this song. If one loves Chrono Cross music, I'd highly recommend Roger O'Donnell's newer music (yes, he was in the band "Cure"). Some of his songs that remind me of Chrono Cross songs are: Treasure, The Prince of Time, For The Truth In You, and The Truth In Me.
Amazing piece of work.. I like it better without playing the game and that's saying something.. the only thing i dont like about it is the voices.. music is better without voices.. i hate lyrics and human voices in music..
What did you say!?!(Peppor reference....) The human voice in this OST complements it. It gives you the feeling that someone is lost and they are calling for your help. Now look at the dark forest. Easy place to be lost in right? I get your point but at least there is emotion. Unlike Justin Bieber.
One of my favorite themes in the game. I actually stumbled upon thsi palce by accident while going to the viper basement i was like "Ooh, a tunnel. Lets go check that out." After that i couldnt elave it unexplored. And i got a talking mushroom out of it XD

Sounds very Tangerine Dream-ish.

Chrono Cross was a neat game, but overall its soundtrack stood out. It's better than most soundtracks.

Kind of a misleading title. Name one illusion in that forest.

@outlaw87100 thats not human voices, that the instrument. on the keyboard there is something called chorus that sounds like someone is singing

@outlaw87100 ...but, i'm pretty sure music started with human voices. there were no instruments back then.

My favorite song off the game. This song actually introduced me to modern minimalism. It sounds like a Steve Reich piece.
