I've been an EMT and firefighter for over 23 years, literally grew up in the service. Yes I have seen plenty of dumb-ass over those years but there is actually 1 use that 90 percent of the people don't recognize using a cell phone w/camera on a severe accident scene. No on this scene it wouldn't be useful but In other cases though the taking of 2 or 3 well angled photos can be a HUGE help to the ER doctors and nurses. Its call them being able to SEE the mech. of Injury instead of a mental pic.

I'm sure he never intended to hurt anybody, but it is still very ignorant. I'm a paramedic, and would never dream of taking photos of a victim. He should have been taught better than that.

This is the problem with unchecked regulation of recording devices in fire departments. When one inconsiderate firefighter goes and does something so irresponsibly dumb like this it puts the rest of us responsible firefighters, who record for documentation or investigation, in a tough situation.

I can only hope this department had an SOG about taking video and pictures on a scene so the entire department doesn't have to suffer from one dirt bag.

The FD taking pics of a scene and them ending up online(typically on the FDs own site) is perfectly legal and acceptable.No law protects your car,property,home,liscence plate to prevent them from being shown on a public forum,.However,taking pictures or a person,especially a deceased person and putting them online/sharing with people who arent involved in the incident is That and another story,as your image and personal information are protected by law.That and its immoral and classless.

I'm an EMT and there are horrific scenes that I've witnessed that you'd have to see for yourself to believe. The FF was necessarily sick for taking the video. Most EMS are unaffected by such scenes and only find them intriguing. I do feel srry for the parents...BUT WHY THE F*** DID THEY WATCH THE VIDEO?

I feel sorry for the young lady, but there are plenty of car crashes recorded and shared on the net. We are living in the day and age of video cams. Tacky and very much rude of the fireman to let this footage get out, but I've seen horrific crashes on line. Ive seen cops shoot young males via video recordings..so what's all the fuss about really... I wonder if she was texting while driving....?
