  • Capablenca is a master of endgame.

  • bin watchin all capablanca vids and he was breathtaking he was a machine

  • oh wow i have never seen chess this interesting

  • Why didn't Morrison play exf5 after Capablanca's f5? It opens the e file for the white rook, threatens black's light-squared bishop, and the pawn is being watched over by white's bishop. If there is a rook exchange on e8, then the knight can capture on c7, forking the queen and rook. I know I'm missing a crucial tactic, but I can't seem to put my finger on it.

  • Because of Bxd5; the e pawn is tied to defending the knight. It leads to a very tactical situation all of a sudden but black would be better for sure.

  • kakablanca 4 the win

  • What a great game! Thanks again!

  • Capa was truly elegant. It seems so clear and easy when one reads Capa's annotations.

I hope you get to the world championship match against A.A.A. Alekine. Did Capa miss underestimate the difficulty of the match? Or was he ill? Or was Alexander A. simply stronger? People want to know.

  • Capa underestimated Alekhine and didn`t work on the match like he should have whereas Alekhine prepared properly.I think that Capa was a better natural player but wasted his talent a little.

First of all Sean I am a great admirer and collector of Capa artifacts, etc. Thanks for all the positive work on Capa. I hope to write a book on him one day. I write about this frustrating historical match elsewhere. In NYC 1927 a 4RR with most of the world's best & whoever won ist or 2nd would be the Challenger to Capa. Capa won & at one point he gave a note to the Director to give to Nimzo: if he did not play better, he would have no choice but to win! Continued

  • @Burgers1973

Continued: In their games, Capa made AA look like a beginer when he won, and AA was lucky when he beat Capa. He bored him in the match, that is how he won. Also Capa could have played stronger at the start, he lost and then quickly took the lead but AA started drawing and boring & tireing him, a match is strenuous. Even after losing, many said that Capa was the true Champion. I have the Argentinian book about the Match. The rest is history AA refused to play Capa and avoided him

  • I will be getting to it soon my friend and I will answer your questions then! All the best,

    Sean

Capa was not ill, he was later in AVRO, he had beaten all of the masters with such ease that he did not think much of it. He is considered by many the greatest natural Chess player of all time. AA was not at all stronger then Capa, he feared him before and after the match. As Champ he said if Capa played in a tournament, he would not until the end when he could no longer avoid him and they met and in a long combo Capa came out 3 minor pieces for 2 rooks by AA and Capa won.

  • @Mathview

When Capa saw that AA had lost the Championship to Euwe, he played a match with the new Champion and beat him to prove he was Champion but Euwe had promissed AA a rematch and this match was not for the Chaampionship. AA regained the Crown. Later Capa saw a possibility of playing again for the WCC and came back from semi retirement to win two powerful tournaments: Nottingham and Moscow 1st place in both. But AA instead gave matches to weaker opponents such as Euwe, Bogo, etc.

  • as usual Sean pure awesomeness!

  • Excellent stuff!

  • Haha it's funny to see how over-confident Capa was by his comments =P

  • RATE guys RATE !

  • Ha! Thanks guys I was featured on the homepage because of the ratings you gave this vid!!

  • nice, nice !

  • Nice one. It's rare to see a game as exciting in the Ruy Lopez, Steinitz

  • Did fritz give an exclaimation mark for the move that capablanca gave himself one for?

  • If i know correctly, Capas play is almost always in agreement with the computer analysis. On the chessbase website you can find the article about it. They used crafty, and his games are not that complex, but still it is amazing.

  • No. It actually gives it an upside down exclamation mark. ¡g5.

  • Ha! No, he didn't. But computers think tactically and Capa's exclamation mark was more positional. All the best,

    Sean
