I received this from my friend in Shanghai, China. As many stricken area are in the remote mountain area, the roads are blocked by the collapsed mountain and it is very difficult for the rescue. America contribute more than 10 million USD to our country, and Singapore, North Korea, Japan, Taiwan all sent their professional rescuer group to help.
May 19th and 21st is our country's mourning days, no entertainment during these days and the newspaper are all printed in black.

The United States still has the highest per capita pollution in the world, and I think its a bit hypocritical to tell the Chinese government to clean up its act when they have more efficient cars, a better public transportation system, and have made efforts to clean up their act.
We can't expect everything to change over night and America is definately not doing anything to help the environment. A break on the gas tax? That's encouraging consumption... Ethanol?

Is it fair when most of the West have moved some of their dirtiest factories to China and now wants China to clean up? Efficiency? If these companies keep their state-of-the-art manufacturing technology back home and relocate their not so modern factories to China (BTW I'm guilty of doing the same thing), how do you expect China, a developing economy, to be efficient overnight without these infusion of efficient process technology. Self-development takes time.
