Ultra realistic gunshot effect with Sony Vegas 7

I respect freddie's work, but c'mon... watch the Bourne saga movies, or the shootout scenes from Heat or Training Day. U wont see a perfect AE generated muzzle flash popping out of each single shot taken, cos randomness and imperfection is what makes it actually perfect. Now go tell its fx supervisors they should watch more Freddie Wong videos :P

@117dallas adobe after effects+pemiere is definitely the best option for editing. U can make whatever u want with after effects. In fact i used after effects for the shells coming out from the gun. I used sony vegas to make this particular effect, but that was 2 years ago, nowadays i'd use just adobe software for it. You should go for after effects if u can afford it :)

@MasterINSANo87 thx mate, that guy is really good, anyway i made this video more than 2 years ago, i've improved my technique a lot since then :D The only problem i see with his videos is a little lack of realism cos the effects are too perfect, i mean, in real situations the muzzle and stuff doesnt always pop up clearly and the gun doesnt necessarely cast any light when the environment is quite illuminated. Anyway thx for input :)

"it's easier that it looks" dude this is like the worst gunshot fx i've ever seen, the xplosion u used did not look realistic at all. this is not pro editing it's the very basics. u go to a site like detonation films or some shit like that and download an explosion whit a black background, u add the xplosion clip to your film find the place u wanna show the explosion and u key out the black, any dummie can do that, besides that u used all wrong xpl, this 1 looks more like star wars than a gun

@JuanKr85 it does not matter how much work you've put in to it, actually it makes it worse, saying u've put so much work into it and still it turns out this bad. u are using the wrong clip, if you need a good clip go to detonation films and find the det_films shotgun pack, may be named kapoowe shotgun pack locate it by entering tutorial, and the link is under 1 of the vidz, download it and take the clipp u get, resize it to a size proper 4 the gun and u'll get a much better result than this shit

I don't have any high tech special effects software or the knowledge of how to use it, so I do my gunshots using a much simpler method.

if the back ground is black then you set the video to the "screen" and duplicate the layer..if it is white you set the video to "multiply" if the back ground is green or blue.. i think u use chorma key

sure. hidding the background is not the big deal... I would like to know how did you get the smoke, because it has motion too. May be you made the animation using another program.

yes, i used vegas 7 only, and the smoke is easy to make, just apply a color mask to the smoke clip for hidding the background.
