What a song? This was composed by Husnlal Bhagatram, the due that trained "Shanker" of the "Shanker & Jaikishen" duo. I am not sharing this to show my knowledge but to make sure that the sopurce of talent is "KNOWN" to everyone. They composed several hit songs and were a unique breed among music makers. There is no wonder that their disciple Shanker went on to become the composer regarded as the "quickest to come up with a tune for any lyric".
In the words of Shammiji : He happened to meet Rafi saheb at the recording session of this melodious gem and they both became inseparable duo in the times later. What a beautiful song!!!
Waah, this is one of Suraya best songs. It is my first time I am listening to it, but it is beautiful, and her voice is sweet and full of emotions. Thanks rajshri.
I had never seen Shammi so subdued. Both the actors justify the feelings in the song.Rafi and Suraiya are at their best..the pain is perfectly portrayed in the song...both the voices are so young and tender!
Thanks for the beautiful song clip.Suraiya and Rafi are simple superb.
The song picturization should be a lesson in less in more for today's directors and choreographers.
And who would think that that was Shammi if they have only seen his 60s romantic comedies? Both the actors show such nuanced expressions that the scene lingers in the mind long after watching.
I find very lucky to become top singer in the presence of such very very talented female singers like Suraiya, Geeta, Suman etc. Noor Jehan ofcourse left for Pakistan. Just imagine for a moment if they all stayed for some longer period of time in industry, what a competition we would have seen.
@himsingz Truly said! One of the best alaaps from Bollywood. From the very start Suraiyya's dulcet voice grabs the mind and ears and simply does not let go. And the rest of the song is nothing but a super melody. Just great softness and tenderness.
I loved this video. It is so romantic. There i something about black and white movies that bring the true essense of love out. I didn't need to understand the language. The language of love is universal. The music in this language goes right to my bone marrow.
Just heavenly. An immortal song.Just takes me to a different world.Million thanks for unearthing a Gem
