Thanks for posting this great Bruce Springsteen classic. The sheet music for Roy Bittan's wonderful piano part on "Born To Run" can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription.
@Brocksongs - I have nooo idea. I suspect he would have started out w/ jacket and then lost layers at the night went along; that's usually how things worked. Also back then he played about 4 hrs w/ an intermission and he would sometimes change to fresh duds for second half.
@rlinsk4 do you remember if bruce wore a black jacket over that white tee, and then took it off? I have photos from either the 25th or the 27th...trying to find out which night I went...in the pics I have he is wearing a black jacket/shirty type thing over a white tee...but this is the encore...he may have taken it off by then.
Lucky buggers to have seen this show. I didn't get to see him till 1981 in London, and transatlantic travel was mega expensive back then. Going to see him again on August 3rd in Spain. 30 odd years later & the feelin' ain't gone! Long live Bruce!!
This is how it should be Bruce mate! Real! Brilliant! Not the over polished glizzy renditions you sometimes decended to in the 90s......I some times thought i was watching a Bud Light ad....
What goes through your mind to even think of such stupid shit. After witnessing one of the best rock performances in one of the most legendary rock arenas of our time, all you can come up with is this mindless comment? George Bush enters your mind? Jimmy Carter was the President at this time. Let it go man, we're movin' on. Can't we all just get along? I was there in 1976 and again the other night with many shows and many Presidents in between. Bruce trancends our differences. Let's just enjoy.
I was at this concert. Have been to a couple of hundred concerts, but what impressed me most about this concert was Bruce"s energy. He was amazing. Jumping of of six foot speakers. Constantely moving and dancing. I had a seat in the back and you couldn't sit down and see as everybody else stood up. The concert seemed to go on for hours and you definately got your moneys worth. I remember beeing sore for 2 days just from standing. That was Bruce in his prime.
I was at the 2nd show, 2 nights later. The Spectrum would put up curtains on sections that were not used. But as I remember it, all sections were sold and I do not remember any curtains for the 2nd show on 10/27. The 1st show sold in in record time. I was at the Neshaminy Mall in line for tickets and was bummed out when they sold out with 2 people in front of me in line. My mom let me cut school 2 days later to get tickets when the 2nd show went on sale. One of the best videos ever posted.
Bruce was so awesome.
Before he became a leftist shill for politicians like John Kerry.

Philadelphia backed him Up BIG TIME!
There was more Bruce on the radio than any others. He was more than just a Jersey Boy! He was the future of Rock and Roll
I REMEMBER THAT

From '72 to '78, there was no one better in rock than Springsteen.
I get a thrill everytime I see some footage I've never seen from this period.
Thanks for posting!

That was Bruce's first concert headlining in an Arena. According to Wikipedia part of the venue was covered with curtains. Do you remember that?

Holy crap! He left it all out on the stage that night, didn't he?
He ends the song covered in sweat, completely exhausted, unable to stay in tune... and it's f***ing incredible.
He's the Boss.
