  • linux gaming ? what games are you referring to ? quake ?

  • linux es basura

  • GNU/Linux*

  • Unix-like software*

  • Exactly, all have there place, and if someone likes what they have then let them. Jesus people. Unless they are trying to start a server that holds sensitive information of its users and are trying to use windows, then just let it be.

  • Cute, but the comparison thing is old and really should stop. Each OS has it's place, each hardware set as well. Without Windows the PC would not be so common place, without Mac multimedia would not be so popular on computers as a whole. Without Linux the internet would not be so huge. Also without Linux, both Mac and Windows would still be using their old crappy GUIs. It's a circle of life, that's all.

  • Nice vid it was funny to watch XD, and very true....... if only WINE could emulate every .exe file (mainly for gamming), because, unfortunately, almost every game is made for windows D"X

  • linux and macintosh rules

  • you people complain about windows when you run it and are trying to crash it or are trying to run it on shit hardware thats were you problems are coming from ive had my pc for about 5-6 years running xp just got 7 and ive kept the hardware up to date and taken care of my system and have had very little problems you cant run a computer and have zero problems also i do run ubuntu i think is awsome but ive used windows since i was 6 and thats wat i like the most

  • mac users = over 1,000,000,000 (billion)

windows users = over 1,000,000,000 (billion)

linux users = just over 1,000,000 (million)

I use mac, windows AND linux and i hate linux, its useless, its boring, mac is good for my music making, entertainment and it looks awesome, windows helps me alot with my homework, it makes me the best things i can do for school work.

    WINDOWS AND MAC FOR LIFE!

    SCREW LINUX!

  • @2009razza

I don't where your getting your information from but there are not over billion MAC or Windows users.

  • @microsf121 no its not information, im just saying mac and windows and mac have much more users than linux

  • @2009razza

It really doesn't matter though, your opinion of Linux is spawned from ignorance. Linux is able to run almost all Windows and MAC applications so all that stuff you boasted Windows and MACs can do, Linux is able to do also.

  • @2009razza Android on phones & tablets = over 43%

    Linux on LCD&LED TVs = 100%

Linux on servers = over 70%

Linux on Supercomputers = over 91%

  • 1:25 BEST PART!!!

  • Windows has more viruses then everyone else because they control the majority of computers. Do you make a virus that will attack a few thousand lke with lnux or a few hundred million like pc?

  • @Valhure1 Viruses on UNIX-like open-source OS? LOL! The real reason is bugs! Windows has very very many holes like cheese of Switzerland. Linux kernel developed by millions of people: security experts, open-source experts, just by users and more! Open-source community rules!

  • but more videogames are supported by windows than linux... so i use windows.... but if i need to do anything else i might use linux instead.

  • this has been made by an linux fan -.-

  • what this windows hater sure is a big troll ,get out more ,window users = saves time by having a stable windows machine ,linux users = indoors all day getting it to work

  • 1.mac

    2.pc

    3.linux

    4.google thingy that sucks

  • Comment removed

  • @savelijah

    1. Linux

    2. FreeBSD

    3. OpenSolaris

    4. OpenDarwin

    5. Closed Source UNIX products (e.g. BSD)

    6. Darwin (Mac OS X)

    7. Windows

Without FreeBSD and Open Source, Mac wouldn't be stable and safe as it is.

P.S. Chrome OS is Linux based & not sucks!

  • Mac rulez!

  • Mac is PC hardware? lol.....there's no such thing as "PC hardware". Hardware is hardware. Windows is not hardware. Dumbfuck...

  • @schm147 The difference between Mac and PC is only EFI.

  • Either way, to each his own. Unless you have a Mac. Then you're too rich and uninformed.

  • Yep, ok, it's all true, but linux has a lot of problems with hardware, I can't run an Nvidia 8500 and an M-Audio Delta like it should and those are not very rare hardware. Besides all of that, I still belive that there is no future without open source.

  • All Windows fans are poor and loser!

  • @GioGziro95

Total losers for owning a Windows PC?

    >_>

The video and comments are all stupid.

    To each his own.

  • @TheGoldenbull3t Only fans, you idiot! :/ and you are biggest stupid.

Windowsd users buying OS for $220 and taking what?.. Viruses, no stability, system bugs, BSOD, cyber-attacks, hardware problems, malware, spyware, phishing.. and Linux users have choice of many distributions, for free! great stability, freedom, more improved GUI, security, safety. Linux made by people for people! It's Open Source! Created by professionals: Hackers, Open Source experts! Made by people, just like you!

  • @GioGziro95

Did I say anything bad about Linux? -_-

All I said was People can have their own opinions.

Read before you respond this time.

  • @TheGoldenbull3t That's why people are victims of hacking attacks.

You said that the video and comments are all stupid. Video and all comments are opinions of the people.

  • @GioGziro95

I said its stupid because all I see on it is flaming -_-

My opinion on this is I don't care.

I didn't mean to start an argument with you, all I wanted to do was to point out that people are entitled to their own opinion.

I got a PC it works fine.

I don't need to know how good Linux is.

I know its good. But the thing is....I don't care.

  • @TheGoldenbull3t If you don't care why did you watched this video? :D paradox

  • @GioGziro95

Well I was gonna get a wii wanted to see how it was like, but then I stumbled across a mac vs pc commercial and I thought it was funny :3

so naturally, I looked through the other videos and came across this and viola.

    I'm here.

    Hi :)

  • @TheGoldenbull3t OK :) It seems that, you slightly care about.. ;)

  • @GioGziro95 Windows is better than you think. Macintosh and Linux just make Windows run bad on Mac and Linux computers.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheGoldenbull3t You know that NASA and CERN uses Linux. Linux develops since. Protons collision analysis are made on Linux. Yes thats true. 93% of Supercomputers are running Linux (13 years ago only was 3%). over 70% of Servers running Linux (Including servers of: Google, Yahoo, Twitter, eBay, Amazon and Facebook)! You use Linux right now, when you reading this!

  • @GioGziro95 ffs wtf did he do to you?

  • @74ryanwolf I just post info for people, who don't know anything about Linux and it's usability.

  • @GioGziro95 haha you Did you ever think why they are using linux ? (search it ) Linux is really good for servers and supercomputers. Like we said PC is personal computer. windows is good because its really easy to use. Every begineer should start with PC or mac. There is still Unix servers you know ? these are very flexibity.

  • @skullTRTR Of course, I have full info. Programmers and security experts choosing Linux on a PC (I mean Personal Computers, including Mac)

"(search it )" I've searched "it" many years ago, whereupon I was windows user LOL.

  • @skullTRTR

Of course Linux is great for servers, because server don't needs services and even desktop environment. Linux supports much more hardware, has better performance and it's much more safe and secure.

  • @skullTRTR Linux is running on:

    Over 92% of Supercomputers;

    Over 64% of Servers;

    44% of Smartphones (Android is Linux based);

    All LCD & LED TVs of Panasonic, Samsung & Sony;

Linux is running on many digital cameras too.

That's because, Linux kernel is the best.

You know that, I've tested 7 different OSs (Witch are in the list)?! And my conclusion is based on real facts.

  • @GioGziro95 we are saying the same. How can you think windows on digital cameras ? or LCD tv lol ? it designed for computer use. Linux is open source you can pull it where ever you want. Windows is good for begineers like I said. if I wanna do server I can change to linux. But if I am using this computer. it have to use windows or mac more more easier to work and perfect for games. in conculdes OS is depend where you want to use.

  • @skullTRTR Exactly ;) (we are saying the same)

"How can you think windows on digital cameras ? or LCD tv lol ?"

If TV developers will be interested to use Windows based OS as default platform, MS can start Windows TV version development (but nobody will be :)).

you are right, Windows is good for beginners and it's irreplaceable for gaming and entertainment.

Linux is right for IT experts, programmers, for people who loves the freedom! It's best on supercomputers and servers.

  • @GioGziro95 if microsoft wants windows on TV. I guess microsoft makes its own TV :) and TV companies dont want to pay for million dollars just for name (windows). I am objective. if I were sony I would'nt buy windows rights on my TV. I would made new OS based Linux because it's free and I will do my own... BUt it could better reaction from costumers if it would be windows TV(example).

  • @skullTRTR Why you would buy windows for TV? All windows mobiles comes with OS included it's price.

Linux is not only free, it's way better. Can you imagine BSOD, antispyware & antivirus programs on your TV? LOL.

  • @skullTRTR Mac = PC + EFI + FreeBSD + Aqua skin + features. it's better than windows, but it's moneytrap :D.

  • @GioGziro95

And it still only controls about 1% of the market.

  • @microsf121 2,41% & It has no mater what Linux controls, it's free and open-source.

Android (which is Linux based OS) controls over 43% of tablets and Smartphones. All modern LCD and LED TVs (Samsung, Panasonic, Sony) are running Linux.

If computer's future is touchscreen, Windows is died!

  • @GioGziro95

What do you think HP touchsmarts are running, because it isn't linux. Modern buisnesses run Windows becuase it's cost effective. There is no development team behind Linux and thus no support. Therfore, Windows will last. "All Windows fans are poor and loser!" is a defensive comment made by your dislike of Windows fans (which could have been formed because we outnumber you 100-1). It's funny how the smaller a market share a fanboys OS is, the more defensive they get.

    (Cont.)

  • @GioGziro95

    (Cont.)

I personally prefer the OS that can run 95% of the software on the market. What exactly does Linux have that Windows doesn't? Oh, it's free. Is that it? Well, my laptop came with Windows 7 installed so that isn't going to convince me. Linux is popular among NASA, google, etc. because it's more secure than other OSs, but to the average Home PC user, they aren't going to be facing very many Hackers so that really shouldn't be a concern.

    Go troll somewhere else please.

  • @microsf121 "What exactly does Linux have that Windows doesn't?"

Safety, security, stability, performance, freedom, much more hardware support, open-source software, very many apps for debugging, software development, cyber-security systems development, computing in quantum physics, since etc.

If you are using computer for entertainment choose windows, it you are an IT pro, choose Linux.

  • @GioGziro95

Like I said, I'm a Home PC user. For buissnesses and Home PC users, Windows is better. But for people who like to tweak their systems or if you work in development, Linux is more common. But when I asked what Linux had that Windows didn't, I was talking program wise. Most software is written for Windows, so their is more software available. Performance? I've never seen a difference. Safety and security? I said earlier, most average Windows users aren't going to endounter hackers.

  • @microsf121 Do you know what is Linux exactly? It's just a kernel. Compared with WinNT kernel more than 100 billion times better. There are over 2,5 billion types of malicious software on NT kernel (only registered) and only 863 on Linux, but due to repositories, Linux desktop user can't be infected (only biggest noobs can be) + hardware support and performance and stability.

  • @microsf121 Linux has poor service (now). Google has made Android, witch is running over 43% of tablets and smartphones, if somebody will make more comfortable OS based Linux, it'll be the best.

  • @microsf121 I will never use windows anymore. or get mac, which is fucking expansive Apple's PC with EFI LOL. If I need to run windows apps or games, I can use WINE to run them on my Linux machine for full speed or sometimes faster. I can run apps Like Autodesk AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.

I don't need to reinstall my OS or reboot it, if I need to restart computer, I can restart requisite processes without rebooting.

  • @GioGziro95

WINE can only run SOME Windows apps or games. And some of them require tweaking in order to run them. Why exactly do you hate Windows so much anyways?

  • @microsf121 Why?

    1. Windows causes hardware breakdowns

    2. It's fucking unstable

    3. Unsafe (with anti-virus software too)

    4. Has low performance = needs more resources

    5. Contains shitty software (IE, WMP, dX etc...)

    6. Registry bugs

    7. Windows kernel is developed by max 10k of people. Of course unprofessionals

    8. And this shit costs $320. For what? Only for software support?

Linux + WINE + VirtualBox and no problems - Be sefe, stable, fast, improved and free!

  • @GioGziro95

First of all, only morons get viruses. Second, most PCs you buy come with Windows 7 installed so that doesn't bother me. I've only crashed once and have never had any resource problems. IE9 is a great browser. Never had hardware problems, and guess what, if I have a problem with the OS, I can contact Microsoft Support! Who do you contact if you have a problem with linux?

  • @microsf121

    "only morons get viruses"

Yes, on Linux! And not morons, noobs.

Do you know, that JS can access to your system on Windows? GIF shells can steal your personal info, including passwords. Any app, downloaded from untrusted/unknown source can contain malicious software. Oh you have anti-virus? Than what? What can anti-virus do against crypted virus? You are always using trusted sources? OK and what can you do if you need to mount somebody's flash drive?

  • @microsf121

Screw OS kernel which has security in user-mode, LOL! NT kernel SUCKS! Any IT expert (and not only pro) can say that NT kernel is shit!

    Compare:

    Linux: h t t p ://goo .gl/lmQXC

    NT: h t t p ://goo .gl/f3byB --> LOL!

"most PCs you buy come with Windows 7 installed"

And you think it's only hardware price? LOL! & You missed anti-virus and additional software price (Archiver, BT client disk burning software etc.).

  • @microsf121

"I've only crashed once and have never had any resource problems:

You are very lucky man! :) OK, and... how many times have you reinstalled windows? :)

I've never crashed on Linux! & never needed to reinstall it!

Resources: Linux does more with same resources.

  • @microsf121

    "IE9 is a great browser"

Does it supports hardware acceleration? WebGL? LOL! IE uses more resources than Firefox and has low performance. It has fucking shitty js engine "chakra", which is very slow. Even more slow than Firefox 3.6, which was closed source :D and released on January 21, 2010 and chrome 4 (Firefox lastest version is 7, Chrome - 15) LOL! IE lag behind time about 2 years.

    Info source: h t t p ://goo .gl/qmt25

  • @microsf121

    IE9:

HTML5: IE9 supports HTML5 (innovation!!! :D), but it has very, very low performance. I hate it!

Security: IE9 has really better security than previous version (DEP, ASLR technologies), but it has rude M$ SmartScreen filter (name must be M$ RudeScreen filter), which provides the main protection and of course it has very many holes.

I'm saying nothing about another features and easy-to-use.

  • @microsf121

Oh... and NEW! to IE! ..::Download Manager::.. WOW! (LOL!)

Firefox has over 20x more improved, intuitive and easy-tu use UI.

    Learn more @ h t t p ://w w w .firefox .com/features

  • @microsf121

    "Never had hardware problems"

Do you think so? I've get HD drive problems on windows! The fact is, on Linux, hardware exploitation period is much more larger. My hardware works very stable on Linux. And sometimes you need to restart your PC, again and again, again (sometimes once an hour)...

The survey was conducted: If Bill Gates will pay only $2 to peofle for compensation of loss, he'll be bankrupt in 2 years. :)

  • @microsf121

    Support:

+ Every normal Linux distro has support, official forum and more, here are thousands of unofficial support forums on the net (this is for Newbies).

    h t t p:// w w w .opensuse .org/support

  • @microsf121

Linux isn't for noobs, it's for IT experts, security systems developers, software developers, web developers. On Linux sometimes you need to work in console, that is very uncomfortable for many users, especially for lamers. But the fact is, Linux brings up newbies to IT experts. But if anyone creates more comfortable Linux based OS, it'll be irreplaceable in every sector of users (like Android)!

  • @microsf121 Sorry but, I was unable to put my opinion into one comment ;)

  • @microsf121 Wine 1.3 version can run very many win apps. + I can install additional libraries for each app or download tweaked packages and use them. No problem!

  • OK U are definetly right with everything on linux except the gaming. So for gamers Windows would still be the better choice, but for everybody else, your correct, Linux would be MUCH better

  • Linux = More secure? You obviously don't know the meaning of the word security. Have you been to kernel.org or linux.com lately? No? Oh that's right they are offline for being compromised. I wish I could post more than 400 characters, I'd throw some virus source code on here for Linux. I basically have a library full of that for my AV research.

  • @TheSatanicView kerel.org being hacked has nothing to do with the actual kernel you moron.

  • @numba1netsfan Except for the fact that they are a host of the kernel and they have been compromised which means that the kernel is no longer trustworthy. The good thing is that kernel patchers like me have nice safe copies of the kernel to compare SHA1 hashes against the hosted kernel. You are right though, 'kerel.org' has nothing to do with the Linux kernel. In fact it doesn't even exist. And where the fuck did I even mention the kernel in my previous comment -moron-?

  • @TheSatanicView you used kernel.org to show that the kernel wasnt secure when thats an irrelevant point. If you have read any mailing lists (being that your a self proclaimed developer you should) you would know that the source hasnt been compromised, and you can still get the kernel from git. And the binaries distributed by all of the big distros are fine as well.

  • @numba1netsfan See, now you are speaking out of your ass. I did not use kernel.org for the reason you stated, I used it because they run Linux servers and they were hacked and are STILL down. And yes, I am subscribed to about every mailing list that involves security.

  • I'mma Linux user and while it's true that Linux is awesome and it can do a lot of things. Getting every thing done takes a lot of knowledge and work no matter what.

Linux is for computer geeks who understand a lot about computers and are willing to put time into it.

  • One Word, One Program, "WINE" google it bitches!

  • Linux ... pay a load of money for emptiness :D PC is also better for gaming IMO

  • @Curtofthehorde94 Linux... Pay a load of... Oh wait it's free. Ever heard of Dual Booting? HURRR

  • @imnotaturtle He was obviously insinuating that you pay a load of money for you awesome hardware and then waste it by putting Linux on it......

  • @Curtofthehorde94 u never ever ever ever have to pay for linux, its a 100% free kernal that u can do whatever u wish to it, and ever linux os based on the linux kernal is free

  • @TeruMikami2345 Incorrect sir. The kernel is free yes but that doesn't mean every distro is free. GNU allows you to sell Linux, it's part of the license. Ever heard of Red Hat bro? Given they aren't charging you because of the OS directly, the fee is implied for the support but again, it still costs.

  • @TheSatanicView I know all about red hat and how not all Linux distros are free

  • @TheSatanicView im talking generally about most linux

  • haha that was good :)

Although I do think Apple has done enough with macs to make them worthy of being called unique and developed in their own right.

    Ubuntu ftw, of course!

  • dude the description is enough to understand that you dont know nothing about computers -.-

each OS points to a different "type" of population.. a different target.

there is a reason why apple and microsoft keep selling stuff.. is not just a matter of merchandising....

  • You spelt "business" wrong :/

  • linux wins YEAHHHHHH!

  • Mac: Professional's System from the 90's based on the NeXT System (The difference between NeXT and OSX is NeXT uses UNIX Codes while OSX uses XNU Codes)

PC: Consumer's System from the 80's put into 32bit/64bit

Linux: Operating System based on UNIX codes

  • Windows is the best by far.

  • @DSRvmv111 yea no shit

  • Linux Rox!

  • jajajaja. Excelente!

  • Mac is the best

  • Mac - Linux - Windows

  • Linux is better then all systems

  • Can you not effectively spell?

    Please don't breed.

    Oh, and Linux sucks.badly.

  • @j3tech Obvious troll is obvious.

  • @j3tech And why is that. If someone makes a mistake by spelling that doesn't make him stupid.

  • @infirnityISnothing There are many things which define a person's intelligence, lacking in one specific area does not make the whole of the person stupid.

  • If you buy proprietary software, depending on their user condition you still loose freedom. example buying a Microsoft word and using wine to run it on Linux. operating systems are tools so I am thinking the system themselves don't suck, but some user condition do.

  • Linux gives the most freedom, that what makes it better.

Mac has all advantages of Linux but more user friendly. To me Mac and Linux are about the same ,but Mac has hardware specific pc. Windows is fun,but if you get infected you are screwed. I turned to Linux because I got a virus on my laptop. I prefer Mac os 9 over X,but life moves on.

Over all if it's freedom a user wants he or she can still use windows as an os just download open source software because most people don't hack their Os.

  • linux is shit

  • Solaris was not included because it was too shitty

  • When comparing things we don't use the word "then", it's "than". As in, "I'm better THAN you", not "better then". And "choise"? Is that even a word? I understand this isn't a formal paper for en English class, but these are really basic things that should be correct. Then and than are different words.

  • @TransitionalSpecies he's from Serbia dick. if you really want to run around youtube correcting peoples grammar, I suggesting targeting the 15 year old americans or brits who are stuck using "u" and "ur" Theres plenty of it to keep you busy.

  • @Bravexark Serbia dick? I've never heard of that country. There's actually plenty to keep me busy in the grammar of your post I'm looking at right now. Are you from Serbia dick too? I agree about the "u" and "ur" thing, though. I also understand that it's shorthand and online the rules are very informal. Childish name-calling is considered the norm. It's amazing how often I'm insulted just for expressing an opinion or relaying facts.

  • The only advantage over linux is the variety of games.. So Linux > Windows.

  • linux and mac is the best. Windows sucks!!!!!

  • WTF ??? Mac is the best !!!!

  • sad but true :D

  • 1400 mac and pc users were here :D

  • take the phrase from promod ye made by gamers, for gamers fuck you linux

  • @XXXLEgiTXXXMLG1

Have you heard of OpenGL? it beats the crap out of DirectX for graphics rendering.

  • Comment removed

  • linux can't play as much games as the pc,obviously the person that made this uses linux -_-

  • NOTE: For people who cannot let go of Windows but want Ubuntu, there is a Windows Installer for running Ubuntu with Windows. :)

  • song is familliar, just like a BG song in playcarfter(currently closed)

  • and PC is PC hardware with UNIX software aswell.

  • Guess what? Linux iso is free now! :D

  • nerds bitching about computers? Really?

  • Linux is run by idiots and jerks (not all but there is certainly enough of them in the community). It won't even work. MS Windows is so much easier and not plagued by Apple's 'planned obsoletion' strategy.

  • @Paspiedreamcast nope. My uncle is a computer whiz (not like a geek. as in if he can't fix it, trash it) and makes computers FROM SCRATCH and is in LOVE with linux. Android is based off linux. And, even though i prefer windows due to it having more available freeware, Windows sucks and mac (though rarely) gets HORRIBLE viruses. Linux kicks everyone else's shiny obsolete ass.

  • @088Julie880 a lot of linux users expect other people who use it to work on improving it as well. There's just so many issues that need to be sorted out that no one has bothered with. We need an OS that combines the open-sourciness of Linux with the stability of Windows.

  • @Paspiedreamcast Eh. Linux is much more stable than Windows. The problem is the apps for linux are buggy, but that is not the fault of the OS.

  • Amusing. I believe that Windows, Mac OS and Linux all suck! I've been a Linux user for years and it sucks. Linux lost the war on the desktop. It is not on the race.

  • Comment removed

  • 0:02 oh, hi there mr.nazi!

  • PC stands for personal computer, so unless it's installed on server or a workstation, every OS is installed on a PC. The only thing preventing an install would be hardware. You can run Hackintosh, you can run Windows in a box designed for a Mac, and you can run Linux virtually anywhere. The whole "Mac vs. PC" was an advertisement campaign by Apple to try and fool people into their overly-price computers.

  • Mac-Stabile and reliable. Popular with hipsters and teenagers. Small ammount of programs to actually work with. Costs 2x as much as a pc with the same hardware.

Pc-Stabile if you dont click on every "video" link your friends send you on FB. Most software is supported. Budget-friendly. Preferred by most computer literate people.

  • if you guys really wanna argue ..microsoft fanboys..remove your virus protection and just use your fucking computer and see how fucking long it lasts

  • Comment removed

  • @313hummer ur r calling other people fanboys, but ur statement is really ignorant the only reason mac and linux have less viruses is because most of pc users have windows

  • Comment removed

  • @313hummer actually make the key logger executable, all the software on mac and linux is secure because it is checked by the people who create it for security and viruses, windows programs tend to be more lent towards speed and quickness, which makes the programs more proned to having viruses in its code, that rumor that its most proned to viruses because its the most used is a load of shit, its proned to viruses because in windows the system files and program files are both modifiable...

  • @313hummer by the user by default, which if you get even a small little virus it can change all the system files, steal your info and basically kill windows within its own whim. thats why i like linux the most because it is designed NOT to have that happen in any way, even if you get a virus it'll hit the program part of your system and not the system part of your system, so you can just go to the software center, completely remove the software and virus, then freshly download it and..

  • Comment removed

  • @TonyVictor96 have a fresh install of that software, im sick and tired of all windows users saying that one little thing, im not being a fanboy, im being logical, and im informing people who say things when they have no idea what their talking about

  • @TonyVictor96 and believe it or not buddy windows is being abandoned when it comes to servers because of security and performance with large amounts data, even google china abandoned it when they got hacked

  • @313hummer u know Microsoft can do something about it its not like Microsoft is not gonna do something about it

  • @TonyVictor96 no they cant do anything about that, that happened last year, the last time google has gotten hacked...as long as google stays secure running linux, they wont change back to windows

  • @313hummer alright fanboy

  • @TonyVictor96 not fanboy a guru, learn your shit before you talk to me anymore

  • @313hummer fanboy

  • Macintosh is not PC hardware with UNIX software. It is a Unix-based system and there is no such hardware is "PC hardware" there is only PC software on just computer hardware. Also, Windows is NOT fun. Everything else seems correct. :)

  • @TheJoshuaPChan "Windows is not fun" Uh... yeah. Go on believing that while I play video games and have fun on my Windows computer.

  • @IAmSomeoneOrOther He is talking about operating system, not the games it has.

Because a LOT of games are crossplatform and they should be so. The same games run on multiple platforms and give you choice of platform, thanks to using open consistent standards on graphics, sound networking and input programming.

Now, would you call buying antivirus, defragmenting, cleaning, overwatching network, and periodical reinstalling *fun*? I don't know.

  • @lin545 My "antivirus" is a brain and using FireFox with AdBlocker and NoScript. Defragmenting? I don't really need to do that. Overwatching network? I don't even see why the hell that would be needed. And quite frankly I've never needed to re-install unless I'm switching from a hard-drive to an SSD, which I haven't yet.

The thing which you forgot is - 99.9% of linux users were windows users. Think about it.

Firefox is opensource and it is developed on linux. In fact, in the past it was nearly killed by microsoft. But lets ignore it. You still need Noscript on linux machine. This is inevitable as javascript and Xss are too uncontrollable. I recommend you to get locationbar2 and betterprivacy as well. No one wants java keylogger or stolen passwords due to phish or hacked SERVER.

  • @IAmSomeoneOrOther But that was about linux. It ends there.

You need AV. It is explicit requirement by microsoft. 99,5 of binaries that run on windows are closed source and come from 3rd party sites. Think about it - I was owned with windows by flashgot update. Flashgot site got hacked and was downloading malware as update. They found it after ONE YEAR. You are very probably already owned. I have done things similar to what WPI and Vlite do - I moved to linux, I found windows broken by design.

  • @IAmSomeoneOrOther I was also beta-tester of comodo personal firewall 2 for long time. Microsoft isses very rare security updates, it has a lot of holes. Applications have a lot of holes. They are rarely automatically updated. Linux had package management in 90ties already and security (that UAC thing).from start. It had no drive-c, used mounting and root tree. Microsoft still failed to implement security and file rights correctly even today. It has stolen su/sudo(calls it UAC) and mounting(C:)

  • @TheJoshuaPChan "there is no such hardware is 'PC hardware'"

The video's creator was likely referencing Apple's transition to x86 and use of relatively standard parts found in PCs. Prior to the transition Macs may not have been deemed as PCs simply because they used PPC CPUs.

  • Comment removed

  • And I'm a Linux user with DOS PC's just like with Linux PC's and the obligatory Commodore 64.

  • linux forever :)

  • I stopped using Windows for a wh
