Not necessarily. I'm English and before I worked with an Indian girl I had real trouble understanding an Indian accent. It's all down to familiarity. Many American's (for example) don't understand certain British regional accents. There's nothing sinister about that, it's all down to learning. We're not born with knowledge and you're never too old to acquire it!
