The Telecaster is equipped with a B-Bender, that's how James does the bends in the verse riff and is one of the reasons the song never gets played live.

Someone messed up with the mic stands too, Jason's is in front of Kirk (Blue plectrums instead of green) so there's no backing vocals.

@serophin \m/ that Telecaster has what's called a "B-Bender"...a spring activated mechanism installed into the back of the tele....it's connected to the B string (of course...hehe)....if you notice on the clean verse when he pulls the guitar down with his left hand on all the bendy parts......that's how it's activated.....it runs from that strap button all the way down to the bridge!...hell of an invention!

i think cliff was good for their trash era, jason for their hardrock era and robert for the present. all of them have an ability that the others don't have: robert is an awesome slap player, jason is a great vocalist and i think cliff is the most important rock/metal bassist besides flea. everyone has strong points, and everyone is special and different to others - that's why you can't say "xy is the best bassist of all time" when you're talking about professional musicians.

I think a lot of people associate the Load-ReLoad era as Metallica just sucking. I think it's just that the albums they put out were not as complete as the previous albums. But they still have some amazing songs on each of those albums.

Also interesting is James playing a Fender "Telecaster", a guitar more commonly associated with Country-Western Music, at the most "Country-Rock" acts like Skynyrd. Has an interesting sound here though

They don't play it usually because of the fact that the tele James is using has a "B-Bender" under the B string, which bends the note in a way the artist couldn't do usually - the guitar is expensive and I'm sure James just doesn't want to expose a guitar like that to the torture of touring - great song tho I wish they'd play it live a few times here and there
