I would agree with you that the standard C6 coupe and Z06 (very good for the money) are sports cars. However, the ZR1 (and even the Nissan GTR) can easily pull super car numbers. The ZR1 is simply a pragmatic approach to the super car. It has caused us to redefine and question what defines a supercar.

My 99 Grand Prix is in flawless condition, I have theraputic pressure regulators in my seats, they're soft as hell none the less, I have roomy back seats and nice arm rests. My friend has a 2001 Honda civic, the car barely runs is unconfortable, and slow as hell. And the funniest part is he paid twice as much for his car, and it has more miles on it.

Yeah, yeah great point. Here's one for you. I will buy 5+ Z06's for the scuderia price. The engine displacement is regardless, so do your homework. The Z06 engine is amazing, especially for a pushrod v8. It's lightweight, responsive as well as historical and I won't get technical. Scuderia and z06 aren't competitors, even the zr1 and scuderia aren't. BUT it's still gona smoke the ferrari lol for 1/3 the price.
Nope the Americans have better engines, gearboxes and fuel economy. Our engines can handle 1500hp euoro ones 800. Same with the gearbox. The Corvette Z06 gets 25mpg and the Ferrari gets 15mpg. Our cars are cheaper and the ZR1 would beat the Scuderia.
Better gas milage my ass the vette gets mid 20smpg where the Euro exotics are in the Teens look at the new E92 M3 it doesn't even break 20mpg thats pathetic! Oh and Peak hp number arent everything its how the power is delivered under the curve. The 430 has poor tourque numbers typical of a top end bias motor. And the Zr1 which is built for boost is only running at low boost to attain 620 hp. Ever heard of the LSX block capable of withstanding 2500hp nothing the euro have can top those numbers.

American engines are way better. The Ford GT engine can handle 1500hp before it needs to be rebuilt. Lambos need to be rebuilt at 800. And their transmissions can't handle it. The engine for the ZR1 is almost the same as the 1183hp SSC Ultimate Aero TT. It's a bomb engine.
Nobody buys a ferrari for speed or performance, even though most of them have both. Ferraris are bought by individuals who want exclusivity and notoriety. If they have the money, and they are concerned about speed, then the really wealthy buy lamborghinis, not ferraris. Cheap(er) American muscle is all about speed and flashiness, not exclusivity, and the really wealthy usually do not care about speed, nor necessarily want flashiness. I love American muscle, but that's just the way it is.
Do you know what goes into making a Ferrari?!?! They have it down to an exact science! They are not made on some assembly line like the corvette is. Hand stitched leather, ANY color you can imagine for paint, engine block poured into an individually cast and sculpted sand mold, and all track driven B4 sale.
The Corvettes we are talking about(Z06, ZR1) are not made on an "assembly line". They are hand built just like their European counterparts. And I'm sure that you could have an excellent auto painter paint the engine block any color you wanted and it would still cost half as much. Next argument?

At one time, Ferrari was more famous for performance. And it's not true what you say about "really wealthy buying Lambos, not Ferraris if they want speed". If you want the name, or flash, and you can afford it, you might want a Ferrari or Lambo. If you want to be faster and win the race, you get the Z06 or ZR1. Faster and less costly.
Of course the Z06 and ZR1 are faster, perform better, and are more affordable, but the thing is that most really wealthy folks who come from money (not the nouvo riche) want elegance and notoriety, as opposed to speed. Ferrari provides that better than a common corvette. They are more unique. The lambo comes into play when they want all that AND speed. The corvette is further down the list. The american muscle lover who is in the A lister crowd, may go for a ZR1, or a classic car.
If money wasn't an issue say if you were a multi-miilonare I think you would rather buy a Ferrari. Then again if you were that rich why not just buy both

The Ford GT is a nonfactor in all of this. The idea behind the ZR1 was to out-do the 2008Dodge Viper (this Viper can soundly beat both the Z06 and Ford GT) and Chevy's ZR1 appears to have done a damn good job of one upmanship over Dodge. More power, better acceleration, and of course more liveable in everday conditions

Yeah, yeah great point. Here's one for you. I will buy 5+ Z06's for the scuderia price. The engine displacement is regardless, so do your homework. The Z06 engine is amazing, especially for a pushrod v8. It's lightweight, responsive as well as historical and I won't get technical. Scuderia and z06 aren't competitors, even the zr1 and scuderia aren't. BUT it's still gona smoke the ferrari lol for 1/3 the price.

Nope the Americans have better engines, gearboxes and fuel economy. Our engines can handle 1500hp euoro ones 800. Same with the gearbox. The Corvette Z06 gets 25mpg and the Ferrari gets 15mpg. Our cars are cheaper and the ZR1 would beat the Scuderia.

Better gas milage my ass the vette gets mid 20smpg where the Euro exotics are in the Teens look at the new E92 M3 it doesn't even break 20mpg thats pathetic! Oh and Peak hp number arent everything its how the power is delivered under the curve. The 430 has poor tourque numbers typical of a top end bias motor. And the Zr1 which is built for boost is only running at low boost to attain 620 hp. Ever heard of the LSX block capable of withstanding 2500hp nothing the euro have can top those numbers.

Looks like every other Vette? Now what does that tell you about the Vette's body style? I don't think I will see any poor man buying a $100,000 car. And stop degrading American cars. There are many foreign cars out there with awesome performance, but too expensive. People who buy Vette's don't buy it too drive it in the rain. Just so there is no bias, I own an Evo. So I love performance, no matter where it comes from.

very true! and besides, i've got a good relationship with this one person in an exotic car dealership here where i live. and he says that some of these exotics...primarily lambos, they're engines are TRASH and not worth the money needed to maintain.

American engines are way better. The Ford GT engine can handle 1500hp before it needs to be rebuilt. Lambos need to be rebuilt at 800. And their transmissions can't handle it. The engine for the ZR1 is almost the same as the 1183hp SSC Ultimate Aero TT. It's a bomb engine.

Nobody buys a ferrari for speed or performance, even though most of them have both. Ferraris are bought by individuals who want exclusivity and notoriety. If they have the money, and they are concerned about speed, then the really wealthy buy lamborghinis, not ferraris. Cheap(er) American muscle is all about speed and flashiness, not exclusivity, and the really wealthy usually do not care about speed, nor necessarily want flashiness. I love American muscle, but that's just the way it is.

Do you know what goes into making a Ferrari?!?! They have it down to an exact science! They are not made on some assembly line like the corvette is. I'm not saying they are the best, and I'm not sure that Ferrari has even made that claim, but, DAMN! if they don't know how to make a car! If they are arrogant, they have good reason to be. Hand stitched leather, ANY color you can imagine for paint, engine block poured into an individually cast and sculpted sand mold, and all track driven B4 sale.

The Corvettes we are talking about(Z06, ZR1) are not made on an "assembly line". They are hand built just like their European counterparts. And I'm sure that you could have an excellent auto painter paint the engine block any color you wanted and it would still cost half as much. Next argument?

Who said anything about a painted engine block? If you read my comment, I was talking about how the engine block is made by being poured into a caster individually scuplted out of heated sand. And yes, the Z06 and ZR1 ARE made on an assembly line. They are the same bodies with mechanical upgrades. Same assembly line as the others. I'm not bashing corvette, really, I was just explaining that Ferrari DOES know how to make a good sports car, though not NECESSARILY better than a vette.

i think this zr1 will cost $103,000 i wld be interested in seeing what gm cld make for a car that cost $300k like a lambo or ferrari.its unlikely that the zr1 wld require a $20,000 tune up every 20k miles like a new lambo or ferrari does.or f1 motor oil that costs $100 a liter that is used in the 630hp enzo for oil changes.there are very few people
that can afford that kind of exclusivity.i wish gm wldve used the small blk 427 from the zo6 if superchrgd it may of made 750-800hp.

Yes, I kniow the coervette is an awesome car for the money, and I would argue its the best you can buy for its price range, if performance is what you are looking for. Heck, I think its the best you can buy for anything twice its price range for performance. That being said, I was NEVER bashing corvettes. I was merely stating the the creme de la creme don't buy corvettes. Don't you think the person who can afford a Ferrari can afford the maintenance? $100 per liter oil? Chump change.

At one time, Ferrari was more famous for performance. And it's not true what you say about "really wealthy buying Lambos, not Ferraris if they want speed". If you want the name, or flash, and you can afford it, you might want a Ferrari or Lambo. If you want to be faster and win the race, you get the Z06 or ZR1. Faster and less costly.

Of course the Z06 and ZR1 are faster, perform better, and are more affordable, but the thing is that most really wealthy folks who come from money (not the nouvo riche) want elegance and notoriety, as opposed to speed. Ferrari provides that better than a common corvette. They are more unique. The lambo comes into play when they want all that AND speed. The corvette is further down the list. The american muscle lover who is in the A lister crowd, may go for a ZR1, or a classic car.

The Ford GT is a nonfactor in all of this. The idea behind the ZR1 was to out-do the 2008Dodge Viper (this Viper can soundly beat both the Z06 and Ford GT) and Chevy's ZR1 appears to have done a damn good job of one upmanship over Dodge. More power, better acceleration, and of course more liveable in everday conditions

It's so true, the KR is barely a z06 contender, look at the numbers. I heard of the super snake, it comes with no warranty from the MFG because it's going to break lol. What these kids need to realize is corvette isn't trying to be ferrari, it's being corvette. A lower cost, better performing car that more people can afford to enjoy and have some fun blowing the pants off cars 4x the price.

Hey, the Buggatti Veyron is awaste of $1,000,000. This ZR-1 is amazing! All Bugatti want's is money. I can't believe someone would blow $1,000,000 on a stupid car like that when you can get a Chrysler ME Four-Twelve that goes 248mph, is American, and look's way better! That's my idea on thing's.
