  • The problem as I see it is not that Georgetown is sinking well, maybe it is, but I reckon that it is the building up of sediment brought down river by the Amazon River ( Brazil ) and Orinoco River ( Venezuela ) , caught up in the backwash from the sea and is settling along the whole Guiana coastline and that includes Suriname and parts of Venezuela too. My father born in 1919 often told us of stories he heard from his dad of Galleons using the jetties as ports for unloading stuff...
