@IseeU76 Thanks for replying cutty!! What exactly are they called tho, cause when I search for presonus tube replacement, only tube pres come up and not the replacements. Thanks mayne!
Hey, I'm thinking about getting this Preamp. Would you recommend it for a keyboard? When I am recording, I lose a lot of my bass and middle, so I was hoping that this preamp would help a bit. (I already got the AudioBox sound card which REALLY helped me out already, I was just hoping to tweak a bit more out of my system.) I hear that the original tube isn't all that great, but the system is pretty good. If you can help me, I would really appreciate it, sir!
@TheLastVelkirk Hey man! Thanks for checking out the vid...Yes per the documents that came with the tubepre it will work well on vocals and instruments..I only used it on vocals so far...I would suggest getting the new tubepre...Its call the Tubepre V2. Its is built with Presonus' Class A preamps (the tubepre wasn't ) and it will focus more on tube saturation (than the tubepre did). I'm gonna get it soon as well.
hey whats up thanks for the video ... got a question im using the same tube amp for vocals .. what type of tube should i replace it with .. thanks!!! like that track in the background !!!!!!
Awesome man! Thanks! I bought this TubePre cause the house I moved into has a CASE of old VINTAGE tubes from like the 50s and they are all still like new! (Not valued at much) but still a great find and cant wait to hear the different sounds!
@xiisign Thanks for checking it out...Per the manual you're not supposed to and I usually wear gloves but was in a hurry to make this vid for someone and forgot about that lol....Thanks!
@YungGiga What it do mane! Thanks for check out the vid....Honestly I don't have the Mbox so I can't tell you for sure, but if you check out my response to roadmaster (below) it may lead you in the right direction. Also, my tubepre didn't come with plugs (XLR's), but depending on who and where you buy it from, plugs may be added in as a deal....Feel free to ask more quesitons!
The two channel version is slightly more difficult to take apart but not too bad. The side caps come off, then you take off the knobs and you can pull the thing apart frontward and get at the tube to change it that way, I took out the factory one and put in a Groove Tubes in mine. Good video though, props.
That's not the way you remove tubes. You risk damaging elements inside the tube. You should do it using a rocking motion(preferably circular) while pulling the tube gently and put the tube back the same way(rocking motion, preferably circular while gently pushing the tube back in it's socket).
@adomayor Yes it is. Right now besides the crappy stock tube its the only one I have used. A buddy of mine swear by the RCA 12AX7 tube. I think it was made in the 60's. I will try new ones on my next project. Thanks for the view and question!
@rodmaster7k: Be sure the preamps on the Audiobox are set at 0 and its 48Volt button is off too. And if you have a pad option on your mic, don't use the one on the tubpre. Using both, will weaken your signal too much and make mixing vocals harder. I have everything set on my tubepre except for the pad botton. I have my drive at 50% and gain at about 30%.
@rodmaster7k: No problem! I took my mic cable, which ends in an male XLR (with prongs) and plugged it into the Tubpre's mic input (back, right side when facing the bk side). Then I took a 2nd shorter male to female XLR cable and plugged the female end into the Tubpre's unbalanced XLR output (back, left side) and plugged the other end (male XLR) into the mic (1) input of Audiobox (front left side when facing the audiobox). Be sure not to have the preamps on both in play at the same time.
Hi man. I'm from Brazil and i've done a tube substitution too. I put a a russian tube called Tung-Sol , and sounds great. Please go to my videos and watch my technics! I like yours! See you! Leo Rossi
@DixiFreelyTV Im glad to. You can find one pretty reasonable if you just look. What happened to that song you put up the other day? I was just about to go listen to it but I see you took it off.
I ordered me a used one on ebay. It was $60 It said it was in mint condition. I might just keep the other one for parts or sell it as is. I presh8 you putting this vid up tho.
@DixiFreelyTV After I put the tube in and hooked everything back up it wasn't working right. I think I pulled to hard on that one side and it might have bent something or broke something.
Hey cutty, where you guy them replacement tubes at?
