  • Roy is better than all the foster the children wanna be groups can ever be

  • the big o jay black the best ever

  • Roy sounds in such good form and voice! Such a shame we lost him too soon afterwards......Roy was a talent amongsts talents. He had alot tragedy to deal with in his life, and will could all take a lesson from classy way Roy handled everything; good and bad. Roy you are missed to this day!

  • Gee that was 88! David Letterman didn't look much different at then.

  • Comment removed

  • My guess is that this was within a week or two of his passing.

  • Paul rockin' out on piano

  • Amazing sound this guy produced. Still playing today everywhere.

  • 2 Thumbs way up to the piano player!

  • The NBC band with Paul, Will, Sid and Anton was great. The first with the late Hiram Bullock and Steve Jordan was great too. Dave has always been a great music fan from Warren Zevon to Roy and on and on to Stevie Nicks. Anybody that thinks that Dave is anything but respectful to Roy has totally missed the boat. As a matter of fact on the first NBC Late Show Paul wore a Roy Orbison T-Shirt. In addition to my comments on the band...Roy was his singularly great self. Can't get enough of him.

  • Anton fig is the drummer?

  • would have been a lot better if that phucking Paul Shaeffer would have burst into flames at the middle of the song.

It disgraces Roy Orbison to have the piece of shit on stage with him.

  • @TexStarJim you're absolutly right. he shouldn't have fucked the big"O"paul schaffer was always FULL of himself

  • @TexStarJim you're absolutly right. he shouldn't have fucked with the big"O"paul schaffer was always FULL of himself

  • It's Larry "Bud" Melman lip-synching.

  • Roy Orbison is amazing, My favorite all time musician, and a beautiful human being, sad he died on my birthday. On a side note, Paul Shaeffer is such a dork, I wish he would GO AWAY.

  • THIS MAN BESIDES HAVING ONE OF THE BEST VOICES I HAVE EVER HEARD WAS ONE OF LIFES GENTLEMEN, A VERY RARE COMBINATION. THANK YOU ROY FOR GRACING US WITH YOUR PRESENCE , THE CARUSO OF POP

  • wohoo!! Thanks for the post!!........

  • I met Roy Orbison at a concert shortly before he died - not only did he sound as good as he did in the early years, but I found him to be very soft spoken, humble and very kind.

  • Get down Paul!

  • oh my fucking godness, isn´t he the BEST??????

  • is he blind? why is he always wearing shades??

  • @janelugue : No...but he had a severe sight problem & wore glasses from childhood. Plus that, the glasses became part of his "look," much as Buddy Holly's horn rims were part of his look. Glasses somewhat shielded his shyness, too.

  • i thought this man is just an impersonator of elvis.

  • @janelugue Roy O didn't have to impersonate anybody. He was a strong performer in his own right. His first hit I heard was "Ooby Dooby" & I was tickled when he started having more hits a few yrs later.

  • Roy Orbison got less credit than he deserved! He is truly one of the best ever! Such a REALISTIC singer! And his dynamics are amazing! Edmondo (etsonggalaxy)

  • Wow. Letterman barely held up the record while he said 'Elvis' twice before saying 'Roy Orbison.' Whatt a prick...

  • What a class act. Gotta love Roy, such a respectful individual

  • @410JackStraw You would THINK Dave would have some RESPECT for his GUESTS!!!!! HE NEVER DOES!!!!

  • What a presumptuous punk, Letterman. He was in the same room as true greatness and actually didn't get it.

  • @oriskany I agree with you entirely Oriskany, a wonderful human being and an exquisite voice oh how I miss him. Glenda-Marie..London UK. xx

  • @oriskany He NEVER does,Dave is not such an appreciate guy. When "GREATNESS" is on his show...LET THEM TALK cause WE heard ENOUGH of the Untactful things Dave says to them!!! LETTERMAN is SO FULL OF HIMSELF!! ENOUGH, Dave!!!!!!!

  • Five minutes of interview w/ this genious it's a sin !!! 1 hour would be fine.

    The voice of an angel.

    Sleep fine Roy!

  • holyshit thats the guy from the film They Live on drums!

  • Letterman is such a Putz!

  • He was the last of the raging 50's. It's quite remarkable how his vocals are still sounding like it was still 40 years ago

  • It makes Letterman so small... him and his lame jokes.

  • @kynismos yes,like mine.

  • @kynismos You got that right.

  • you think paul likes roy orbisons music much haha he was going nuts but who doesnt love roy orbison simply one of the greatest musicians ever r.i.p. he died 2 years before i was born so these videos are the closest thing i have to seeing him live. i wish i could have seen him. you were the greatest roy keep rocking in heaven

  • @eeeewd33 Nice post!

  • true legend!

  • humbel, shy, Talented Talented Talented. How could dave cut him off!!!...that is embarassing, and unforgiveable . Ray Orbison didnt get the proper recogntion in those days , and how courteous he is in that interview...he deserved so much better. .Every rock and roll artist was in awe of Roy, his voice and remarkable genious in music, and lyrics,. Roy was a great artist.

  • I understand that late-night network TV has its limits, but Roy Orbison is so great that it seems a shame in retrospect to rush him off because Bob Saget is waiting in the green room. No disrespect to Saget, who is hilarious as a stand-up comedian, but I just can't help feeling sad. Who knew Orbison had so little time left? It would have been great to listen to him talk all night.

  • What a singer, and a great musician and showman! Love, love , love this! Thanks, Mark, for sending....and thanks for posting, catetoide!!!!

  • One of the best

    Margaret

  • Great singer, never be another like him ☺

  • Wow, Paul is a madman on those keys!

  • A true songwriting genius. His incredible voice and sound will never ever be duplicated. Artists like him come around only once in a century or two. His music will be enjoyed by generations to come and then some. Thank you Roy, may you rest in peace.

  • Wow. What a gentleman he was. I always liked the way he planted his feet when he played. He looked solid and calm and comfortable. The best.

  • If you liked this check out the Black and White show that he mentions. It's absolutely phenomenal. Most of it is on YouTube too.

  • FAB !!

  • @pomp55able Indeed!

  • To bad that asshole from Thunderbay ruined it Letterman suck ass

  • Schaffer is also one of the most underrated, real geniuses, to do any accompaniment.

  • Elvis meant every word he said about Roy. They were recording at Sun Records together with Johnny Cash.

  • It is known that Roy didn't like television or interviews being kind of quiet and shy...and it showed on this.. but he is such a gracious person and mega talent... all that is washed aside..

great voice ... great talent... Roy was a great person...

  • It WAS "the world's most dangerous band."

Paul Schaffer is so enthusiastic.Check out his performance with Del Shannon years later.

And Orbison. Nothing more can be said.

  • He had quite a tragic life losing his wife and 2 sons in a car accident and fire. He was said to be a humble and good man. Not too many like him around nowadays..

  • @mgallant01 He wasn't exactly humble... He was pretty sure of his being the best singer ever, apparently, according to Tom Petty.

  • @YAS62ftw He WAS - so he was humble and honest...

  • @YAS62ftw He WAS - so he was humble and honest...

  • That is a great song, too bad he is not with us anymore.

  • He still is with us in our hearts!

  • You are so right..... You know there are so many more of his lesser known songs that we don't hear a lot but are just as great.

  • @BadVideosJustForYou

I will certainly second that emotion!

    :-)

  • @BadVideosJustForYou

not so much. Wife Claudette (like the song he wrote for her), killed in a motorcycle crash. Roy also wrote a song called "Pretty Woman", for Claudette. You may want to speak of what you know before you talk.

  • That's The Voice.

    Yeah Roy!

  • ONE OF THE MUSICAL ICON'S OF ALL TIME.

  • Right on Tempus Transit

  • Needs Boots' sax.

  • Damn. Tempo's way too slow. Wonder why he did that...

  • To bad that asshole from Thunderbay ruined most of it

  • There are no words that can adequately describe Roy's brilliance. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks a bundle ,Mark. This is a keeper for sure. For R&R I love Orbison. Great range to his mellow voice!! LOve it!!

  • Elvis was right. Thanks a lot for sending this Ramey

  • Nah. Elvis was just being humble. lol

  • Thanks ramey for posting he was and is a fantastic singer this is just great.

    Elizabeth.

  • There is a free download of this song on Roy's Offical website!!

  • Roy never ceases to amaze me...i cant believe the discussion part wasnt longer...did it really take Roy's passing away to recognize how special he was/is.

  • Ledtterman is the same with all his singer guest,It is a real piss off actually

  • So cool..........thanks

  • Wow
