Just a little info for anyone who has never heard of Thunder Over Louisville, it is the opening ceremonies for the KY Derby Festival which is normally two weeks long. Thunder Over Louisville is the largest annual fireworks display in the nation. I highly recommend that you come to Louisville for this event...you will not be disappointed!
I agree with the no video can do it justice comment. I have only missed one show in the last 14-15 years and plan to be there again. I took some friends from college last year and they were amazed at how big the show was, even after I had talked about it for months. I will be there again this year and cant wait.
i've seen plenty of firework shows outside of the us and none beat thunder over louisville. everyone would have a great time and it's free. truely though there is no video to do this show justice. it's definitely breath taking.
If it seems like the fireworks aren't synched to the music, it is because the sound system playing is delayed. The show was actually synced extremely well this year.
Well if you go to waterfront park you'll probably pass by my group, we'll be over by the big art sculpture, on the edge of that concrete platform that goes down into the river. :)
Sorry if I upset some people here,, I can only comment on the video as I see it. I saw a video fron TOL a few years back on the web and it looked much more spectacular, Not really sure why I should stay the hell out of your country? I cant wait to see Niagra Falls.
Thanks for the comment. The thing to keep in mind is that there are two barges on each side of the bridge which are launching redundant displays while fireworks are also sent from the bridge itself.
Ah, just wanted to make a little correction, there are 4 barges on each side of the bridge as well as 3,400 ft of the bridge. Some people just don't understand the scale of this show. In the U.S., the second largest show is the very famous Macy's 4th of July display in New York...little do people know that Macy's is half the size of Thunder over Louisville. ;)
Sure ya can, this video is proof, largest fireworks display in the USA, and I would really like to see evidence of a show outside the USA that can top it. Have lived in Louisville all my life and this show is breathe taking every time I see it. Talk all the shit you want, but until you can post of video of your so called great show, go stfu and please stay the hell out of our country.
ha ha... you must be very confused. Thunder Over Louisville is 30 minutes later and filled with a such diverse variety of different fireworks... To say any firework show has no flare is very stupid. They're fireworks - they are flares in the sky, genious. Thunder is incredible; amazing. It's worth traveling and worth the 800,000 croud to see... well worth it.
You know, I don't know the name of that song. It was part of the Thunder music, but I know I've heard it at a zillion ballparks and hockey games if that's any clue.

Yeah the sound track for Thunder Over Louisville is always good in my opinion. Didn't get to see the fireworks this year. Nice video.
