Nirvana "In Bloom" is playing while Todd is raping Marty. "Rape Me" would have been a more appropriate Nirvana song. Too bad it wasn't released until Dec. of that year (although it had already been recorded).
@DawnmariePW Actually, "Polly" would have been the most appropriate, if you know what it was about (a real life case of abduction, torture and rape of a 14-year old girl). "Rape Me" is not about literal rape.
@FrakkinToasterLuvva According to Kurt Cobain, in an interview about the song "Rape Me" he stated that it was written as an "anti-rape" song, speaking on the topic of actual rape and not being used as a metaphor. I agree, "Polly" would've been another very well suited song.
After you get to know the characters you realize why each of them took part in it. Todd was angry and emotionally confused and he knew first hand that forced sex was the worst punishment, Zach was just a sicko who got off on things like that, and Powell was too much of a pussy to stand up to the others and not allow peer pressure to get the best of him.
@DawnmariePW ITA... Now that we've seen these characters over time we understand their motivations. IMO, Zach was the truly the most evil and sickest one of all. That is in NO way excusing Tood or Powell but still I agree with your post!
Powell ended up being a serial killer who was shot by John McBain.

I've always loved to hate Todd Manning but seeing the rape scene for myself took the cake.
