Me too! I have been lifting weights close to 4 yrs now.. then I tried lifting kettlebells on one random tuesday morning whim then... BAM!! Massive strength gains in just a few months. But I just couldnt ditch traditional weight lifting just like that.. I'd miss the post-workout muscles soreness all too much.
@rmsolympic1 well conditioned muscles are also strong muscles and can be stronger than larger muscles but that beign said a larger muscle is on average sronger than a smaller one. this guy wasnt small though, he probably weighs 200lbs or so.
@dirtyjew1974 I would consider him large-framed per se, rather than muscular-at least that I can tell. Anyway, big things - that is, lots of power and might - can come sometimes come in small packages ala the compact but almighty sinews of people like Bruce Lee.
@rmsolympic1 i guess im around the same size as him also,i weigh around 210 or so but im stronger than many guys bigger than me also, not so much because my muscles are larger but because of the way i train and my muscle conditioning. i also have an outstanding deadlift so i know what your saying about smaller and stronger but then if theres a larger person than me with the same conditioning then he's gonna be stronger just like ill be stronger than a smaller person than me thats conditoned
Awesome! I can tell you, after training for more then 20 years in various Martial Arts and weight training, NOTHING comes close to the funtional strength that I have achieved in a short time with kettle bells. Core stabilty is greatly improved!
@MrMusclefish absolutly! many kettlebell workouts are a form of plyometric exorsise which enhanses explosiveness in sports and plyometrics are perhaps the most important form of training because it enhances speed,strenth and muscle endourance!
i was there-what you guys need to realize is how NOT big this dude is-he just knows how to move in the most correct fashion- it is even better than BRUTE strength-it is intelligent body strength.*
no wasted effort, no energy going anywhere other than the lift.
*this in no way negates his absolute strength, but more impressive than seeing a monster do this is seeing a 'not-big' guy who's capacity is so fine tuned and focused that he can accomplish the same task as guys that outweigh him by 20kg

Excellent, and interesting: small muscles somettimes have no bearing on a person's power and strength.

@marshallone I completely agree!
In a few months I've made HUGE gains in strength with Kettlebells and I've been lifting weights for close to 20 years.
Kettlebells have totally renewed my excitement for weight training and that's saying alot. Great for rehabbing injuries as well.

@marshallone Does kettlebell lifting improve striking power?
