@JFskeezix The bible also tells you that the earth is flat, outer space is filled with water, sprinkling blood cures leprosy, and displaying a striped pattern to a pregnant animal will produced striped offspring. As a Christian, I think the bible is a nice story, but I prefer to accept the facts of math, science, and history when it comes to discerning reality from fanciful tales.

@JFskeezix "Modern Science in the Bible" was written by Ben Hobrink, published by Howard Books. Howard Books is a Christian publishing company. Ben Hobrink is a former Dutch biologist who has gone on several speaking tours to champion anti-evolution, but has not done a single bit of research to successfully disprove the theory, which is what a real scientist would do. Anyone can publish creationism through a Christian publisher; real science is published in peer-reviewed journals.

@JFskeezix Like Ben Hobrink, I have my degree in biology and am a science teacher. Unlike Ben Hobrink, I do not use ancient texts to substitute empirical evidence. Just because you believe in something does not make it true. To understand the real world, you need real evidence. Real evidence is found through research and experimentation. Reading an old book does not amount to reality.

@JFskeezix Before you reply with a list of things in science that the bible got right, let me ask you something: J.R. Tolkien wrote a book called "The Hobbit" which was about diminutive human-like creatures called "hobbits". Several years later, anthropologists discovered the fossil remains of diminutive hominid species in Indonessia, appropriately nicknamed 'hobbit'. Does this fossil discovery prove that the book "The Hobbit" is fact, not fiction? Is J.R. Tolkien in communication with God?

@JFskeezix No, just because J.R. Tolkien happened to be right about the existence of diminutive human-like creatures does not mean he has any special insight into the natural world. "The Hobbit" is not science, it is just a story. Just like the bible is not science just because it happened to get a few things right. Nor do those few things validate all the things that the bible gets wrong about the natural world.

@JFskeezix Interesting how you assume I don't believe in the existence of Jesus even after I told you I am a Christian. There is no controversy between science and religion. You can accept well evidenced scientific theories (like evolution) and still accept Jesus into your heart. They are not mutually exclusive. How can you be so sure I'm not the one who discovered the truth about God and the bible, and you're not the one lost in the dark? You sure seem lost on the field of science.

And if you claim to be a christian, how can you believe that Adam and Eve where monkeys first? Also, in Romans says Paul that death came by sin, so before Adam and Eve sinned there was no death. Evolution is a process based upon dying species and therefor cannot be combined with creationism.

What about the parts of the bible that says the earth is flat with a crystalline dome with a watery firmament beyond the flood gates? I guess we need to call NASA and inform them that outer space is filled with water. I believe they are metaphors used by the authors of Genesis to portray humanity. This may surprise you, but not all Christians believe the bible is literal. In fact the largest, and one of the oldest, denomination of Christians on the planet (Catholics) do not accept the bible as literal truth, but as a symbolic truth.

@JFskeezix 2nd, evolution does not say people came from monkeys, you ARE a monkey...or to be more precise, a primate. Humans have the following classification: Animal, Chordate, Mammal, Primate, Hominidae, Homo, Homo sapiens. Just like you have criteria that make you a mammal (hair, warm-blooded, live birth, produce milk), you also have criteria that make you a primate (well developed cerebellum, five digits on the fore and hind limbs, reduced number of teeth, flat hallux nail) to name a few.

There had to have been death before Adam and Eve sinned because there were animals in the garden. By definition, animals are organisms that ingest and digest other organisms in order to sustain themselves. It is a biological impossibility for Adam and Eve to have survived without eating other organisms in the garden.

Technically, you can have evolution without the extinction of a species, but this is more of a technicality than an outright fallacy.

I believe the only pure truth is in the person of Jesus Christ and without Him there's only darkness. We also need the Holy Spirit to help us understand the Scriptures, because He's the one who wrote it through people. Our own mind is unable to understand the treasures of the Bible.

Beliefs are subjective and are not necessitated by any evidence. You are correct in saying we can't have a useful discussion, simply because you can't even acknowledge the distinction between the personal truth and empirical fact.

@JFskeezix While some of the ica stones are legitimate finds, none of the ones with dinosaurs in them are anything other than forgeries. Many were produced as fake artifacts by local peruvian farmers to make money (since farming in peru does not fetch a lot of cash). One of my personal favorites is the one with ancient-astronauts. This stone was used as "proof" by people who believe that aliens visited ancient earth civilizations.

I think they are joke non-arguments. He is simply calling beasts and dragons from ancient cultures dinosaurs and trying to use that to suit his argument.

The fossils of human and dinosaur fossils being found at the same time is a flat-out lie. I recommend researching the Dinosaur Valley State Park controversy from non creationist sources, all which cite how and why it is a mixture of hoax and pseudoscience.

yes, i made a mistake and im not a scientist. The main point in this discussion is Jesus. I believe He made everything and you believe it developed by itself. Both we are convinced we know the truth and you dont believe me if I tell you I saw proof against evolution and you dont believe the proof in this video. Therefor I must stop with this conversation.
