Notice that Max pauses on his toes & starts to slow down as he goes down. Nikki reaches her legs down "early" to take her weight (that's a pretty natural reaction), and then the real "slow mo" part is when they bend their knees and lower their centers together.
Max is not weak; but he shows no strain as he starts to slow the lift and then the landing; that is what really impresses me: he makes it look easy and Nikki follows perfectly. Sweet

How the hell does he do that slow-mo lift?! You can see another dancer in the background just shrugging because he can't believe it.
