  • steve buscemi did act with joe in a movie, so they were most probably friend er something.

the movie is "mistery train", a great great movie.

    rip joe

[i cry all the times i watch this video..]

  • Joe Strummer siempre estaras entre nosotros, because through music we can live forever..

  • I second

  • dammit whyd he have to die...

  • RANCID (: ♥

  • i thought the rancid cameo was alright, the steve buscemi cameo was totally unexpected

DONNY YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR ELEMENT

great vid. stummer will never be gone.

  • LOL =D

  • The Legend.

  • Beautiful....R.I.P. Joe Strummer

  • At 1:53 is that Zakk Wylde?

  • I don't think so... Zakk is a lot blonder and would have had a more obvious cameo

  • Joe in all our hearts forever. Rest in peace.

  • The light has dimmed, but the legacy shines on...

  • sempre nel cuore joe

  • love it!!!!

  • your sorely missed Joe... rip bro!!!

you can crush us you can bruise us but you'll have to answer too...

  • Geez what you said put a lump in my throat..thanks

  • He didn`t care about money, he wanted fans to listen to the texsts in his songs, and show some anger about political things f. eks. You are a hero Strummer!

  • Rancid at 2:06

  • Beautiful

  • Strummer 4ever

  • Every time I see this video, I always start crying. It is a beautiful song by an amazing man, (bothe Bob Marley and Joe Strummer). I wish that I had the opportunity to see Joe when he was with the Clash, or even the Mescaleros.

    R.I.P. Joe!!!

  • joe strummer and bob marley two special persons bob marley represent the black rebelion and joe represent the white rebel they represent a lot of thing i think that they are a bridge betwenn africa and europe without visa i like those people peace

  • is this on "the future is unwritten"? i've watched it twice and its not in the movie, is it in extras? i love this version though, didnt like it the first time i heard it but now i love it :) RIP Strummer "punk rock warlord"

  • No, it's not. It's the video for the song Redemption song; it's on Streetcore(which obviously was recorded before Joe died, but it was released posthumously) This video was released much earlier than the documentary : )

  • cheers, but i have the album, and the movie, but wheres the video from? its not on a DVD then? thanks anyways

  • Is that Monkey @2:36?

  • is that still on the wall

  • A beautiful cover! A lovely vid Redskins001!!

Thank You...Amy! Love you Girl! xo

  • i missed him alot

  • i think this is beautiful

  • I'm not saying he was not a great artist. You have to be stupid to judge me just because I expressed my opinion about his voice. Marley's version is a 1000 times better, no way.

  • outofmind6, everyone is entitled to their opinion in this world. Unfortunately, your opinion is incorrect.

  • all i can say to u prick is piss off and go watch some johnas brothers cunt.

  • Something tells me Bob would more than approve.

I can't think of two better ambassadors for the human race than Strummer and Marley.

  • indeed, praise to the revolutionary's Strummer and Marley !

  • Strummer was one of a kind. His score to Alex Cox's film Walker is one of the best film scores of all time and certainly one of the most underrated.

  • marley great,strummer greater

  • IMAO Joe should be made a Saint. He did all the benefit gigs that others wouldn't touch with a barge pole, because they weren't big enough. If anyone should cover Sir Bob it's Joe.

  • Bob marley was a genius like joe strummer!respect, freedom and peace!

  • kylevoks6 is a deaf ignorant piece of shit!

  • Jesus.

This video is higher when you search "redemption song" then bob marleys original.

Does that ont jus show us how Great Joe Strummer was? and obviously still is in our hearts??

  • Is that Steve Buscemi at 2:37, and Jim Jarmusch at 2:48?

  • Yeah, theres a lot of cameos in this

  • I love this clip, I play it at least three times a week but the "Do I like Jessica Simpson" ads in the top right really fucking piss me off...give it a break google!!

  • I personally hate writting R.I.P. when a Rock star dies.(I like to "make up" something that "fits" the person that died but still use R.I.P.)In Joe's case I feel the perfect R.I.P. is "REBEL IN POETRY"

  • arghhh everytime i see this it makes me cry

good to see legends covering bob marley

joe strummer, punk rock warlord, but when it came to politics and people, he was the most sensible person on the planet.

  • dude if you dont like it just dont watch it

    Just dont.

  • HAHA

  • Isn't this a cover of a Bob Marley song?

  • yea it is.

  • i love clash

    i love strummer

  • I'm not that emotional but i'm almost crying after seeing this. you left way to early m8.

Its a nice thing seeing the Rancid punks and billie joe in the video:)

    R.i.p Mister strummer.

  • ive jsut watched the documentry on him and the only thing i can realy say is it rekindled my love of life lol

johnny rottern once said "only thouse who are fake servive" he was right. thats why joe strummer is more punk then johnny or eny other "punks" i know of... and why his philosiphies and amazing music is some of the best in the world

  • Greatly missed RIP Joe

  • i think the version wi joe and johnny cash is better.

  • does any1 know wher that wall iz?

  • i think ive read its in manhattan somewhere. not fully sure tho.

  • I miss you joe............

  • thats immense

  • i belive his aim in life was to change people and make them think and hes done that so he lives on inside all of the people that can see the true side of his music

    xxx

  • Such a raw and warm song.

  • when i feel horrible this song picks me up.

  • grazie joe

  • if thede dun that were i live sum drunk chavs would have fuked it up

  • His mind is free. Goodbye Joe, goodbye.

  • what an enlightening path joe strummer walked,i am so fortunate to have known of him and his bands, sadly missed but forever listened to...

  • "i keep on listenig to the great Joe strummer cause threw music you can live forever"

  • Not a punk. Not even a musician. That box is much to small to hold what it was that was really inside the man. It may seem really cheesey and sickly sweet, but i do not feel this was not a song i just listened to. This was a bit of a soul that leaked out and left itself where anyone can hear and relate.

  • It was not a song for melodical purpose' it's just a simple tribute to a man that gave a lot of hope and insperation to some people..you may not think he was a musician, but to a lot of people he was...The clash were great and I hope their music lives on forever.

  • that's kind of what i was trying to say. the word "musician" falls way too short to use it for him.

  • sorry and much agreed with your reply

  • temazo

  • j'aime beaucoup!

  • triumfantly...

  • biggest thrill during my most recent visit to NYC was the wall where the video was shot. bro surprised me and took me there. Joe Lives!

  • That's so wonderful... Rest In Peace, Joe.

  • This bloke and and his band were nothing short of the best..would have given my right arm to see them play live

  • Joe Fucking Strummer...he could make a tape of himself farting into a phone and it would be infinitely more relevant than any of today's alleged punk crap. Can't fucking believe he's gone.

  • Bob Marley couldn't have said it better, I have no idea who's up there right now, god, allah, ganesh, bhudda, but whoever it is...

    Bless you Joe.

  • punk is not dead joe!

  • Bring humanity inthe center of the ring for a while. I wish Je ws alive to show us the right and moral way. I guess he gave us the tools to do it for ourselves. That's called a Phrophet. Funny word profit, phrophet

  • R.I.PUNK Joe

  • A Great Tribute.

  • God bless Joe.

  • when i get my license its gonna be one of the first places im gonna travel to, RIP Joe you've impacted so many lives

  • Agreed!

Although I'll never drive-- bad experiences. But I'll hop on the first bus/train/plane/boat!

  • GREAT!!!!!!! RIP Joe

  • I visited the mural a few years ago. Very cool.

Joe was a good guy; I really miss his music.

  • Where was it?

  • In New York City, Avenue A, I think. It's still there; Clash fans make the trip quite often, I believe.

  • Yeah ... my friend recently went to see that

  • BEAutiful cover RIP Joe

  • joe strummer, you ARE the best. You'll never die because your music your words are immortals.I want to be just like you.

  • di piu umanità credo...

  • « Penso che la gente debba sapere che noi dei Clash siamo anti-fascisti, contro la violenza, siamo anti-razzisti e per la creatività. Noi siamo contro l'ignoranza. » (Joe Strummer)

  • E a favore di cosa?

  • Joe Strummer has never "sucked". Marley himself acknowledged. Joe.

  • *acknowledged Joe of course

  • Joe is one of the gratest rockstars of all time I'll miss him RIP

  • joe strummer....the best....

  • Tim Armstrong from Rancid / Hellcat Records organized this whole thing, he's great, and so IS Joe Strummer

  • Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery..None but ourselves can free our mind.

  • thank you for everything Joe you will be missed by all. thank you for the inspiration and your music. Love a Fan of Music RIP Joe

  • when was this vid made then was it after september 11th was it? R.I.P Joe.

  • probably it was made, some days after strummer's death.

  • a bit of freedom would be quite nice,

  • a legend

i was dissapointed i couldn't see it when i was there this summer

    RIP Joe

  • the best version R.I.P Joe

  • RIP joe strummer

  • A mural like that could never be kept sacred in Cali. I was visiting my college buddy this summer and he took me to see the Elliott Smith mural, and some lame-ass Crip set (at least he said it was Crip) had tagged it, like a fucking dog marks a tree. At least in New York, if someone tried fucking with Joe's mural, he'd have a gang of livid punks to deal with.

  • I go to it all the time and it always looks fine....

  • Nunca te olvidare descansa en Paz,Joe.

  • Peace from Poland for Your soul Joe!!! R.I.P.

  • Dammit some dust got in my eye

  • Incrível esse video!

  • This is an honest and valid version of a song by a man who earned the right to sing whatever he pleased. Same goes for the man who wrote it. RIP Joe and Bob.

  • Este es el tema de Lu y Mateo, los quiero mucho y fuerza en esta nueva etapa por la que estan pasando¡¡¡

    Andre

  • Listen to the Strummer / Cash version, dynamite

  • don't take that the wrong way, I know people are entitled to their own opinion, I often see pothead bob marley fanboys ripping on strummer without even knowing his story, and it just pisses me off. bob marley is decent, but my respect lies with Joe.

    RIP

  • I prefer Joe's version aswell but holy hell various people got various opinions there is no "better" Version

  • i agree with shneeper. if someone says something bad about Joe i will not hesitate to beat them. and to precinct i bet you haven't influenced millions of people and i doubt you are anyones hero so you can fuck off

    R.I.P Joe never forgotten R.I.P

  • to anyone who has anything negative to say about Joe strummer.Good thing your not near me cause i take it very seriously and i would bury you in the woods and piss on your pathetic dead body.and i bet im not the only one. not what joe's music was about but it all comes down to RESPECT.go listen to your new AC/DC CD you Fu*kin Redneck

  • joe is god but way cooler

  • Who created the lyrics to redemption?

Bob Marley sang this tune too!

    I love it!

  • this is bob marley's song....

  • Joe Strummer was amazing,To the people who is glad a man who wanted to do nothing but help people and make people better is dead, well you should hang your heads.

  • Joe strummer was human.

  • Glad somebody is dead?

What a sad fucking specimen you must be,yet another keyboard warrior who sits there desperate for attention.

Go and find a life sunshine, your Mum is probably getting fed up of washing your messy sheets.

  • hahaha, what a twat. Despite being middle class strummer did way more positive thing with his live than you or I could ever hope for.

Sometime you'll grow up and stop listening to gay art-fag music like the cure and see the world for what it is

  • Well said everyone,I think Precinct is suffering from a rather bad case of teenage angst.

Fuck off sonny,Strummer would pity a sad fucker like you.

I think that's what we all should do.

    Low-life.

  • your a pretty sad person if your glad at someones death. Every life is worth while and such a statement either proves your stupidity or complete disregard for life. Which is a very very sad thing

  • dick

  • the future is unwritten.

    RIP JOE STRUMMER.

    amazing person.

  • R.I.P. Joe

  • Any day Ill be over the mountain

Therell be time enough left for to cry

So good night and God gaurd you forever

And write to me once you get by

    One in a million x

  • "old piwates yes they wob i" no they didn't!

    kidding

  • I love you Joe and miss your voice of honesty.

  • this still makes me cry. I'm an 18 year old guy and I don't care. Joe was my hero and I never got to see him play.... RIP

  • joe hubiera querido que vivieses 100 años

  • There are no words that can describe the beauty of this song and men who sing it

  • I've known Bob Marley's original version of this song for as long as I can remember. I never thought anyone would ever be able to do a cover version that was anywhere near as good - how sweet to be proved wrong. This video really touches my heart. I'm so glad it exists. I love the version Joe Strummer did with Johnny Cash (which is on the Cash Unearthed CD boxset) too.

  • I love Joe Strummer, but this is not his natural voice. It is auto-tuned to hell. uggh!

  • joe strummer is dead. heart condition in december 2002

  • is dead Jon Strummer? WHY? DRUGS? ACCIDENT?

  • Joe is amazing...I wrote my college essay about him and how he has influenced me

  • long live joe

  • Awesome tribute.

  • no matter how many times I watch, brings a tear every time.

    RIP Joe, Never Forget.

  • He did a great cover of this song RIP Joe you were amazing.

No Use For A Name did a good cover to but I like Joes better

  • I dont like Matt Lars And Tim,, They are in the same formation here as the clash, i think they mean that they are the next Clash

  • Jim Jarmusch at 2:50

    Nice.

  • A very.very good version of a brilliant song.

  • this actually brings a tear,

    R.I.P Joe

  • RIP Joe.........

  • God rest your soul Joe....

  • Joe is alive in the hearts of his fans

  • Joe Strummer was a great man; a legend who is still admired today. He wrote great music and his songs had messages. He wanted to make the world a better place, and he wasn't afraid to speak his mind. He was such a wonderful and kind person....hopefully, there will one day be a man as great as he was. But until then, I just wanna say "Stay free Joe. May your soul rest in piece." By the way, I hear The Future Is Unwritten is a great documentary on him...check it out.

  • R.I.P Joe! un grande...grandissimo...artista!

    fanculo hai razzisti!!

  • Fuck Lars and Tim,, Punk died,, American music is not punk,,

Well Sorry for that comment. Joe Strummer went treu allot,, let punk and his music not die with him

  • Joe Strummer, a man who changed alot of peoples perspectives on life. He's changed it for the better.

    RIP Joe

  • FUCK RACISM !!!!

were here on this shit tip we call earth for a limited time, lets start making the most of it!! RIP BOB MARLEY, RIP JOE STRUMMER. PEACE.

  • Joe was a fantastic social commentator and arguably one of the best non-elected politicians independent of any political party that our formally great country has produced.

The song captures the sadness of his untimely death. For me, Joe rightly deserved to die an old man warm in his bed rather than in mid-sentence. He hadn't finished talking and I certainly hadn't finished listening.

  • You do him justice, thank some god for his music and words...

  • Superb words mate ...

  • That was beautiful. RIP Joe Strummer.
