Beacus he possessed Leoric and took his body. The solestone is Diablo. First before this game an arcangel slaind Diablo and burried his solestone deep under the ground and build a Monastary above it. And after many hundred years it was forgotten that DIablos solestone was under the Monastary so King Leoric ( King Leoric is the guy in the 3 cinematic) wanted to live there and he had a son don't know his name let's call him Son of leoric. Son of leoric got possessed by Diablo.

To be honest, I kind of prefer game cinematics from the late nineties to early 200s, because the stiff animation and soft textures had its own kind of charm, and they generally utilized atmosphere much better. Nowadays, everything is too slick and overproduced, and it comes across as if they're trying to tell the whole story in movie form rather than just set the general ambience/mood/style of the game.

It is true that the main sense of danger and, indeed, horror came from the cinema of past Diablo games. The chills you got from the first, the sense of impending doom, mystery and darkness you got from the second. People's bodies serrated as you traveled the citadel; the dark forests, the book of the countess. Though D2 also had Act 2 -- very bright and colorful. D3 will likely have both as well -- and we've only really seen class trailers, not in game cinemas as of yet.

This is also seen in act V, where we see the beautiful mountain peak full of pure snow. Many are wounded, but the city still stands. It is only until you exit outside the world that you see that it is just that -- a world that was once beautiful, but ravaged by a prime evil. @DoomGamer3000  u missunterstood something in the diablo story; bloodraven was one of the rogues in the camp and was corrupted by the evils (diablo II).. and the false summoner is explained in the diablo books.. the wanderer is the hero from diablo I who fights with himself against diablo. cuz diablo is trying to get control of him just because "our hero" ramed the soulstone of diablo into his head. at the end diablo wins and our hero gets diablo himself.. the dark wanderer

Personally, I'm in much anticipation at the next Guild Wars set to release next year; the reason I bring it up is that some original devs from Diablo now work for ArenaNet (the dev team behind Guild Wars). I will say that despite the crappily rendered graphics of D3 (IMO), the actual live action looks quite remarkable--particularly the special effects from spells and gruesome death animations. And I still think the game ought to be fun in keeping with certain key elements that helped Diablo stand the test of time: randomized loot, randomized dungeon crawling, simple yet fun & rewarding game play, intricate character customization to diversify each class, and of course the intriguing depth of lore.

The goal here was for the hero to defeat diablo and contain him because if he doesn't he will come back and to do it he had to put diablo's soul stone into him.. the second game clearly shows how to defeat the diablo (to break the stone in hell forge..) the reason why they didn't say this in the first is because they didn't think ahead or they wanted to make more money on this series.. (the reason for the worldstone could be the same..) since the world stone is destroyed new story is capable..

@LamentedxSoul Actually, the Prime Evils haven't died in the sense that we mortals (we humans) die, they've simply been sent to the abyss without a soul stone to keep them anchored; essentially banishing them from Sanctuary. However, with the destruction of the World Stone there's no boundary between worlds and nothing to keep the forces of Hel at bay.

Also, it's been verified by a Blizzard rep that the final demon in the cinematic that had originally unveiled D3 was indeed Diablo himself.

Because the warrior wanted to fight the demon within his body. He thought that as long as he took control of Diablo, he won't roam anywhere else spreading his terror. However, it was Diablo's plan all along to enter the warrior and possess him because he wanted to take control of a body that was stronger than the one he was formerly in.
