CNN reports that Captain Richard Phillips, the American held hostage by Somali pirates, has been freed. Three of the four pirates holding him were reportedly killed and one is in custody. Phillips was not injured the rescue operation.

But Bush's approval at the end of his term averaged to 28% (some polls had it as low as 22%). 1st, 28% is not much higher than Carter's 22% as u say (some sources have Carter at 28% as well). Second, if McCain got 45% and Bush's approval was 28%, then how can u say most of those 60 million were pleased w/ Bush? Think bud! In every poll Bush's approval is always in the bottom 3. Lowest or 3rd lowest, it's still pathetic.

Perhaps try attacking the message, not the messenger. I must admit that most of what you say is civil compared to your cohorts, but saying "I feel uncomfortable mocking stupid people" or "most stupid people tend to be conservative" are sort of a cute way to attack the poster. At that point you'll lose any civil discourse that might have happened. You feel very strongly about what you say & I feel just as strongly about what I say, but I don't feel like calling you stupid will change your mind

AP is reporting that Obama didn't give the use of force order until Friday night. That would have been after the Capt tried to make a swim for it & we missed our first chance. Bush would've had this guy home by Easter.

It matters because we don't need a President who hesitates. The order should've been given in the beginning & this would've been over on Friday when the Capt. tried to swim for it. We got lucky this time, but who knows about the next one.

I would urge u to go ask the mans family if they care more about the fact that he was saved on Sunday versus Friday, or whether they simply care that he is safe. Also, how do u know he could have been saved safely on Friday anyhow? Please cite the military report that proves your statements. Unless u were in those waters, u have no idea about the circumstances.

CNN reports that Captain Richard Phillips, the American held hostage by Somali pirates, has been freed. Three of the four pirates holding him were reportedly killed and one is in custody. Phillips was not injured the rescue operation.
