in my old Dodge van.I got a tape stuck in the tape deck on the 3rd day I had it Aside E.R.P's MEL B side the 6ths wasp nest. I drove that van for 2 years anytime I wanted music it was that tape. Im still not burnt out on Mel. Its a rare thing that something can still hold up after 500+ plays. I bet whoever has that van now is wondering about that music.

I always wanted to make music like this. I always said to myself “How hard could it be? Fred Cornog does it with a cheap 4-track, a keyboard synth and a couple of cheap mics.”

Turns out it’s really friggin’ hard. Turns out you have to be a freakishly talented songwriter with incredible patience and a huge heaping of guts.

For one year I listened to very little except for Poor Fricky and Mel. Both albums affected me deeply. I get maudlin when I hear this stuff. It changed me forever.
