I had to rescue two guys caught in one at Silver Strand Oxnard while I was surfing.

Dangerous stuff if you're not familiar with it but makes for an easy paddle out to the lineup if you're a surfer. =)

They are not called rip TIDES they are rip CURRENTS, but yeah he was right saying swim side ways after the rip has taken you out, or if you are a strong swimmer you can swim at a 45 degree angle to the beach
