  • Sorry to ask but, did Mr.Choson or Mr.Greg did the design too or you make the design yourself? Because I think that the blade should be plain in the back of it, just like katana. Sorry again, but in my opinion, this naginata looks like a Kwandao to me. Overall, it is nice to make one and it looks nice too. I wonder how did you sharpening it? Thanks...

  • @acl2311

Mr. Park helped me with measurements... the length of the blade, handle,... but design is mine. And you're right about the shape!!! I'm planing to make a new naginata with the blade like katana in the future.

  • Great work! Looks very nice!

  • it looks more lkke the chinese kwan doa

  • Very nice, do you think you could make a jumonji yari spear?

  • Very nice, do you think you could make a jumonji yari spear?

  • Very nice, do you think you could make a jumonji yari spear?

  • normal naginata blade shape is just the same as the katana. they shape u use is chineese style

  • thats amazing work you should be very proud and on the sharpening its beautiful!

  • it looks more like a duan dao then a naginata

but its good and i could never make somthing like that

  • Omg thats is really cool but don't they have smooth edges?

  • very nicely done!

  • Very impressive. What did you use to cut the shape of the blade?

  • i made one to i got a rusty old blade some think to connect it it was like a rail shape and a pole i found and i just sharpened it

and covered it in gorilla tape so it looks better

    and i used a hammer

  • very nice peice of work i just want to congradulate you.

  • what type of meatal do use? and how much duz it cost? also what tools do you use for shapeing and what not? i am very interested!

  • realy nice

  • Awesome!!

  • hope you dont delete this video i really like it

  • It's nice work and I'd like to see a cutting demo but I have to point out that those measurements are way off. Practicing naginatajutsu properly with that is impossible.

Also, did you temper it and what steel did you use?

  • Why to you think that the measurements are of? i had the measerements form choson ninja....

  • @NinjaStudent1

Well, if you watch some naginatajutsu videos you'd find out the blade is much smaller. What you have is closer to a chinese quandao.

Also, choson ninja isn't trained in naginatajutsu...neither am I but unlike him I've actually done research on it. By extention, the ninja weren't from the choson region nor did they practice naginatajutsu. You're choosing the worst possible source of information.

It's a very nice quick DIY job, but it's totally innaccurate.

  • will you you plz send measurements by the way amazing work my friend

  • Thanks, i will send you pm with the measurements.

  • will you plz send me measurements

  • great job, looks very nice, wonder how it endurance in action....

  • Thanks for your comment

  • Absolutely beautiful piece of weaponry...I'm envious of your tool access.

  • Thanks for your comment!

  • what kind of weld did you do to conect the slab with the metal bar?

  • ARC welding

  • he im making one but i need to know some stuff, how long is the staff portion im guessing 6 feet, and how long is the blade length

  • i sent you pm with the measurements...

  • thank you

  • awsome, its very hard to find good kind quality homemade thigs on youtube 500 starzs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps: master park is the best. I am his loyal servant.

  • Thanks for your comment. Yes he is the best!

  • Whoa. This is truly genius, my friend: creativity, dedication, and skill all blended together.

And the result is one awesome-looking Naginata! It certainly seems quite sturdy. I wonder how good it cuts?

  • Thanks for your comment. it cuts really good :)

  • got to say you would've been a fine ninja in feudal japan since you stick to the rule "need it make it"

    nice video

    5 stars

  • Thank you for your comment!

  • very nice. your a good craftsman. 5 stars

  • Thanks

  • Thats pretty handy work there. A+++++

  • Thanks for your comment

  • I thought its a Sword at first, because I didnt know what a Niginata is, how did you cut it out?

  • I used the same tool that i used in my video "home made knife"

  • sweet

  • awsome my ninja bro you have an eye for detils and what you want to make keep it up

  • how long did it take you to finish it?

  • I am impressed, that came out really nice.

  • You did a pretty nice job,

But leave it in the stand or practice katas with it, but don't go cutting with it!!!

All steel used for cutting or sparring should have a heat treatment and tempering.

Cutting with it now is really dangerous because you don't know how the steel reacts and if there are any cracks inside and stuff.

But if your a metal worker you could learn that pretty easily.

  • You make the thing which is much better than the toy which chosonninjya makes.

But I will say a word.

    It is a Chinese design.

It is not a Japanese thing.

After all the Japanese naginata which Greg made are different.

  • WOW i want one of these too^^

  • thats so awesome :O

    *bow*

  • that is amazing my friend excellent work 5 stars . You are quite talented with making these weapons .

    Great job

    Rick

  • AMAZING WORK 5/5

  • nice, you seem to be very good with your hands, if i may ask, what kind of wood is the staff made of?

  • good job. the only problem is that the steel appears to be mild steel. is this true? if so it will dull fast and wont be durable. high carbon steels are generally better for blades.

  • Congratulations to your wonderfully self-made naginata and the "stand" for it!

Thank you very much for sharing your video with all of us!

    7 naginata stars and favorited
