I never worry for one second about any kind of afterlife.  That's because I'll be DEAD.

The reason why it makes more sense to be an atheist is because I don't waste my time rationalizing why bad things happen to good and innocent people by telling myself that its okay because its part of god's master and perfect plan. Well, good question. A better question is perhaps, do scientists know more than theologians and those who believe in gods? Yes they do. Do theologians know anything valuable at all? I doubt that. They get their information from books that are thousands of years old, and assume these books are either true or part true.

God the Father the bible says has never been seen, not even in the very beginning in Genesis. God the Son is Jesus, which is the one that was in Genesis and that burning bush thing. And the Holy Spirit is God's church. Most Christians don't know that either.

Him and yourself need to understand that the stories were first passed down orally - and storys get changed easily that way. Then they were written down by people who made mistakes. We don't have any original copies, and none in the original languages. And most biblical scholars agree on areas of the Bible that are forgeries. It's not a book that's accurate.

We don't know that - in fact evidence points to the contrary. If the dating of the gospels is correct, which most biblical scholars are is Mark, Matthew, Luke and then John - it's quite clear that each began ripping from one another. And Mark being the earliest we still have no idea who wrote it, if he was a witness at all, etc.

I'll start by saying that I am an atheist. I believe the possibility of god is the same as the possibility of there being invisible pink unicorns roaming the earth. I thoroughly enjoyed the show with Dr Hawkings and personally agree with everything he is saying. However his idea of how the universe began is still just an idea/theory. It's not proven and as atheists we have no problem admitting we don't know the answer.
