I thought it sucked at first, but back in the day when you rent a game and you're bored as fuck... you'll start to like it. Brandish 2 was waaaay better.
God that control scheme is so fucking strange for an RPG...It looks like a great game but it has the same flaw Arcana does. You don't walk around, you adjust your direction of vision. Fucking WEIRD!!!
@ZetaPlays please tell me what you think the "flaw" in this game is. I played this, liked it pretty much, and never had any problems with it. I give it that the room turning effect is hard to get used to, but when you do, it works out really fine since its mastery is incorporated in the games many puzzles, which aren't too hard. The "weapon damage" effect also is slightly annoying, but can be dealt with. With that in mind, it's actually a good thing that you cannot attack when not facing enemies.
@ramblinevilmushroom dude your an idiot everyone of my friends used the word "brandish" when we wanted to describe something shitty that is how bad it was
Most people instantly dismiss this game because of the poor graphics and the room-turning mechanic. It's actually quite addictive if you give it a chance, but most won't. I wish the sequels had been localized, as I've never found another game quite like this one.
it's too bad seeing you struggle for a game. I remember when it came out and RPGs were all the rage on the SNES, I was going to pick this as the game to get me into RPGs. It looked like Zelda from the screenshots and I liked the company but I never did get it. I just tried an emulator and though I knew the screen "rotated" I didn't know it just jumped like that. terrible game design from what otherwise could be a cool game. I may give it a chance still though. always was curious.
Well, I understand you made this as a joke but its pituful kids cannot play other games besides of halo and mario because everything its not given to their hands.
Sometimes you need a challenge... and here you have it with unorthodox (but not impossible to master) controls and some puzzles I had headaches figuring out.
For the record I dislike most modern games, especially the overused FPS genre and overhyped games like halo. The true fun FPS games were Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, and early ID Software stuff. I liked Mario up until Sunshine, then things started getting dumb, if still fun.
It was mostly just the god awful turning of the entire room thing that made me toss it out, it made controlling it slow. That, and watching me play it would bore people, the game's too repetitive for funny commentary.
I bought this game by accident when I was looking for RPGs at the flea market. Originally I didn't think much of it...I found the movement disorienting. However after a little time I began to get the hang of the controls and this easily became one of my all time favorite games. I'm not sure what kind of PC your running on but the game ran beautifully on my SNES 10 years ago and (sound aside) runs just as good on the SNES emu on my Xbox. You really didn't give this game a fair shot.
Wonderful, you just took a great game, and labeled it crap because you couldn't take the time to read the instructions... Don't know how to strafe? Heal? Anything? Well, it's a great game if you can get out of the first few doors... Oh, and it makes much more sense if you play with some kind of USB controller... Give it another shot, and keep an open mind...
To be fair, I did have fun with what I played of the game, And I WAS using a gamepad. Glitchy emulation aside, my only two problems with it were rather slow control response and that it was somewhat hard to impossible to see some things except from exactly the right angle. For a dungoen crawler, it was average and could have been fun...
But would have made for a boring let's play at the rate it was going because nobody wants to watch repetitive gameplay, so I stopped. Comedy comes first!
I bought the game, and there's an option to change the camera controls to move while holding L or R. That way you can strafe and not get a migraine.

Hey. At least it's not Hydlide.

I don't know that I'll be playing this one; room turning slew my hopes.

Watching a fresh player take to this game was amusing. I can't remember how I did the first time I played this game.

No, you're either just have terrible taste in roguelikes or are very good at overlooking ridiculously obvious and nearly game breaking flaws.

@melvoin I found a pretty good english translation patch for Brandish 2: Planetbuster. just google it up and use an emulator.

Wow... I never imagined that how KOEI had mad this kind of bad game. :(
But, Superman64 is still far way worse than that.

Brandish wasn't really that bad. I kinda like it for it's "unusual" room turning effect.

I couldn't agree more. It took me a while to appreciate this game, but it's really addicting and fun after a while.
