i was going to varnish my logs on the interior but for my application oil will serve me better.... i'm also using cob for my chinking. mortar and cement are not working for me because everything at my cabin has to be packed 1-1/2 miles in, up a steep hill. thanks for the scraping tip.... i was about to start sanding
