  • I LOVE YOU SUSUN WEED :):)

You remind me so much of my grandmother whom I miss so very much :( Granny was such a wise woman too :):)

  • Thank you so much for your teachings.

i planted officinalis last year and have been using it for external use and for garden compost. after listening to your herbal infusions course i ordered some uplandica plants for making infusions. will the officinalis have more strength for external use?

  • I have a question for you Susan....after making and straining the oil will it keep better if I just put it in the fridge?

  • What a marvelous woman. So interestesting. I'm quite sure she was in full charges of the situation.

  • @arthurzenpoet - yes and the child's mom was videotaping and watching all the time....MJ is quite aware and cautious.... ;-)

  • Hi, What is the problem with the alkalaids in comfrey. I am considering using fresh comfrey poultice for healing on the lower back... herniated disk.

    Thanks. Nice film.

  • I think the comment about the knifes is stupid. It is not as though Monica-Jean was unsupervised at the time. What did like is that Monica-Jean is included in the daily rituals of her family, not shoved infront of the TV (aka baby sitter) like alot of children are.

  • I believe in Nroth America and else where on earth, there are some other herbs--rather than weeds, than we have in Chinese mountians. We done the most researches in the world of the earliest time begin and our medicine is more mercy than western , because we based on herb treatment.

  • Thank you so much for sharing.. it helped me a lot.. :)

and i would like to make oil from melissa officinalis.. it smells nice and has hypnotic value :) tnx

  • Hey =) I'm curious about using the oil over the non dried plant also. And I KNEW there would be flack when I saw that sweet darling holding the knife. It looks to me that her G-ma knows what shes doing! Great Videos! I just found you and look forward to learning more!

  • Stupid question- If it's hybrid how does it reproduce? With no pollin and no seeds how would a grower keep it growing? Just curious. :)

  • When infusing and storing olive oil for cooking, you are to never use fresh herbs because the moisture inside the leaves encourages botulism formation. While I would like to try this method, I'd be afraid it may be a little dangerous. How do you know if botulism is growing? If it turns black? Are there benefits of using the leaf over the root? Many preparations I see use the root and I've always been curious as to why.

  • I put comfrey in my salve. It's nice to see someone else working with it, too!

  • Great vid. Back to nature. And why not have a kid next to the knife? It's a learning thing!

  • So it's ok to use fresh herb or flower with oil? It doesn't have to be dried? I was scared that I ruined my rose oil....because someone said if it's moist....it could grow bacteria???

So dry just mean not wet....not dried....?

  • So helpful to see this done! Thank you and I hope you post more things to teach the Women!

  • very nice! can i make hemp oil with this method for my glaucoma pains? thanx all the best :)

  • Susan, Other sites I've visited say symphytum officinale is the plant used for medicines, and C. x uplandicum is used for composting.

  • fantastic, can I use this method with dried comfrey herbs or other herbs.

  • What a great video! Thank you so much for it. I have one question-- do you leave the jar on a sunny windowsill or keep it a cool dark place for the 3-4 week period? (Or does it matter?) Thank you again for your time. :)

  • always in a cool dark place to protect the herbs potency. sunlight and heat can be damaging and cause spoilage.

  • Thankyou for sharing your wisdom.

  • Oh, OK, thanks for clarifying. Just wondered, and thought I would mention it. Hope you have many more videos! :)

  • Sending love and green blessings!

  • Great learning tool, but in the interests of credibility, it might be a better idea in future to not have a toddler sitting on one's lap while one is using a very sharp knife.... Otherwise, loved the video clip. Very helpful and I have several of your books...

  • good to hear from you. Scissors are even more dangerous to a child.

Our darling Monica-Jean is the daughter of two professional chefs....she understands that knives are sharp and not toys and that stoves are hot..She is being raised with an awareness of and consciousness of the tools that her parents use...rest assured the baby would never handle that knife on her own....

  • @wisewomantradition I've read that long ago, out of necessity that 2 and 3 year olds could knit their own gloves, sew much of their blankets and clothes with very little assistance, so I'm not finding this that odd, children can be taught, if given enough time.

  • Susan, what's a good way of preventing mold in the oil? I've tried making Comfrey oil, but it ended up all moldy.

  • harvest on a dry day, use dry jar, make sure oil covers plant, no plant matter exposed to air, keep in dry cool location. transfer to new jar if getting moldy, making sure to scrape mold away first.

understand that comfrey oil does not smell "wonderful"..

  • Thank you for putting these on, I love these Susan Weed video's.

  • please tell me you live in oregon. i would love for you to be my mentor.

  • apply as often as possible until affliction heals - yes, good for all skin conditions. St. Joan's wort oil is especially good for sunburn and as sunscreen.

  • how often would you need to apply it to wounds and sprains etc? Would it be good for rashes, sunburn or insect bites at all?
