@MaxOmantha it can but you need to make sure that the cables are Mac compatible. i myself ordered the cables from amazon. com for my msi wind running mac os x because in the product description it said it was mac compatible

you can also use slim DVD drive for notebooks and hook it up with custom case and adapter

Do you have any idea whats going wrong?

But yeah that convertor fits to anything SATA or PATA.. that is CD,DVD or any size hard drive. Don't even need power for 2.5" HDD

Well it's an ad and not an ad. It's like more, hey if you wanted to get it, here is how. Like I'm not hired from the website, I just figured someone might want the info in case they were wondering how to get it. I mean not many people have an IDE/SATA to USB cable lying around with a power brick with a molex connector. Quite a pain in the **** to get one in Australia actually I never did find it over here.

Could also rip apart an old external HDD and hook it up to your DVD drive. Did it myself and it works perfectly.

Snooge. I assume Monoprice is a good place to get these cables. Best place for any sort of cable. NEVER BUY MONSTER CABLES! Don't waste your money! Sorry for getting carried away. Thanks for the tut.
