This is really easy. I don't know what notes this would be considered but the next step would be to play eighth notes like: 1+2+3+4+. The hi-hat hits all the notes, the bass on 1 and 3, and the snare on 2 and 4. And of course the way to count it would be: 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and. Pretty simple stuff.
I think the 1-2-3-4 / 2-2-3-4 / 3-2-3-4 / 4-2-3-4 would throw me off if I were a beginner. I'm not even a real drummer but I can play crap like this with no problem, and that counting would still throw me off. Good old 1-2-3-4 over and over works fine lol.
@SebbeSucksBawlz It helps alot when you actually start reading the sheets you learn to keep the measures, like if you do 4 measure and then a fill you´ll know when the for measures are over.
I'm having problems with coordination. haha i need help with that...like...I have the basic beat in my head and i can play it fine, as long as my eyes are focused on the high hat. once I take my eyes off the high hat, my beat goes to hell completely and I can't get back on track without stopping and starting over. :/
thank you! i'm thinking of getting a basic drum kit at 53 just for the mental and physical exercise... already play guitar and bass as music is my passion and this will be interesting to learn... thanks again...
great video! I just took up drumming and I am deaf wearing a hearing aid helps but I can't hear the cymbals well. Gonna buy my own set and have it here in m photo studio .
im an eighth grade percussionist and my teacher told me to just make a beat any advice on how i can play music on a level 3 and i joined like two months ago i can keep a good steady beat i just wasnt sure what to do oh yea it was marching music to
your advising begginers to work on metronome on there first beat?
That's a invalid point... a begginer drummer needs to have fun at first, learn some a lot beats as this gives them the basis to sort their timing another time.
Don't ever use a metronome until you can do a varied set of beats and you know fills and how to come back into beats from a fill.
when you were playing the beat at the end with the roll in it, what you were playing in the beat was completely different to how you demonstrated, you demonstrated a buzz roll, the roll in the beat what a double stroke roll.
@ZQman666 because then you can reach the right side of your kit with the right hand (where the ride cymbal usually is). That way you can keep the left on the snare at all (or at least most times), meaning you don't have to switch around all the time.
@ZQman666 this is the standard way of playing the drums...
if you wish... you can use the open handed technique in which your left hand hits the hat and the right the snare but this takes a lot of patience because of the limited use of the weaker hand.
@ZQman666 Im left handed but i started playing drums like this because i found it would be easier to play beats on the ride and crash which is on the right side of my kit. it pays off when you get around the kit more
Yh man I started like it to. Puttin all the 3 basic elements together. It was really useful. Also Rock Band also gives you different beats to work on. Really helpful, nice job man.
Thank you for making this very basic. My son at 3 has pick up 1234 then hit 13 very good. Next is getting a drum set and not just the chop sticks and pots and pans from the cabinets.
WHAT THE FUCK!???? Get rid of the fucking text on the screen, can't see what the hell you're doing? you expect people to learn? Jesus Christ, you guys are anything BUT experts...
