  • 138517 videos o.o thats about 5 years of drums lessons who needs to pay for a teacher when u have youtube x)

  • Why did i watch this,i dont even have drums

  • zzz

  • This is really easy. I don't know what notes this would be considered but the next step would be to play eighth notes like: 1+2+3+4+. The hi-hat hits all the notes, the bass on 1 and 3, and the snare on 2 and 4. And of course the way to count it would be: 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and. Pretty simple stuff.

  • What is people listen to when they where headphones someone said metronome and someone else said the song there playing but I wasn't sure anyone?

  • @xMTJGxTeaM there listening to the audio of 2 girls one cup...

  • this has helped so much .. thank you dude

  • I think the 1-2-3-4 / 2-2-3-4 / 3-2-3-4 / 4-2-3-4 would throw me off if I were a beginner. I'm not even a real drummer but I can play crap like this with no problem, and that counting would still throw me off. Good old 1-2-3-4 over and over works fine lol.

  • @SebbeSucksBawlz It helps alot when you actually start reading the sheets you learn to keep the measures, like if you do 4 measure and then a fill you´ll know when the for measures are over.

  • I'm having problems with coordination. haha i need help with that...like...I have the basic beat in my head and i can play it fine, as long as my eyes are focused on the high hat. once I take my eyes off the high hat, my beat goes to hell completely and I can't get back on track without stopping and starting over. :/

  • @rolliepollie94 Same here I find myself just staring at the high hat.

  • cool tutorial man.

  • it would be easier to learn if the lights where on and we could see the kit

  • Rockband is more informational.....

  • Ted Mosby?

  • Thanks dude the first part is kinda easy but at 3:00 it get's hard. Once again thanks. :)

  • ima get the evil monkey from my closet to distract me

  • There are 31 deaf people that have viewed this video!!

  • im an eighth grade percussionist and my teacher told me to just make a beat any advice on how i can play music on a level 3 and i joined like two months ago i can keep a good steady beat i just wasnt sure what to do oh yea it was marching music to

  • @MeMyselfandMyiPod who doesn't

  • @MeMyselfandMyiPod who doesn't?

  • 31 people. dont know how to play drums ^^

  • helpfull, thanks.

  • Thanks

  • I Like It :)

  • cool, gonna try this later in music class @school hehe (:

  • You didn't help me at all

  • U didn't help me at all

  • Very nice.

  • your advising begginers to work on metronome on there first beat?

That's a invalid point... a begginer drummer needs to have fun at first, learn some a lot beats as this gives them the basis to sort their timing another time.

Don't ever use a metronome until you can do a varied set of beats and you know fills and how to come back into beats from a fill.

  • when you were playing the beat at the end with the roll in it, what you were playing in the beat was completely different to how you demonstrated, you demonstrated a buzz roll, the roll in the beat what a double stroke roll.

  • hahah he looks like tre cool alittle

  • Comment removed

  • @CKYF001 your dumb

  • Cool

  • This didnt help me at all. There is another vid by a 14 year old that helped me alot more..

  • Question, why do you cross your arms while hitting the snare and hi hat? It seems it would be easier to just do it normally.

  • @ZQman666 because then you can reach the right side of your kit with the right hand (where the ride cymbal usually is). That way you can keep the left on the snare at all (or at least most times), meaning you don't have to switch around all the time.

  • @ZQman666 this is the standard way of playing the drums...

if you wish... you can use the open handed technique in which your left hand hits the hat and the right the snare but this takes a lot of patience because of the limited use of the weaker hand.

  • @ZQman666 Im left handed but i started playing drums like this because i found it would be easier to play beats on the ride and crash which is on the right side of my kit. it pays off when you get around the kit more

  • Thanks :)

  • were they high hats or saucepans?

  • wtf ur drums r weird!!

  • lol im doing this on a website : virtualdrumming com

    its nice

  • i need to work on foot control.

  • yehey

  • nylon tipped sticks, i use them

  • smokey

  • Yh man I started like it to. Puttin all the 3 basic elements together. It was really useful. Also Rock Band also gives you different beats to work on. Really helpful, nice job man.

  • I started out with rock band, no lie lol

  • @drummerhero4652 me too!

  • @JJDC420 To be honest, almost every drummer start like that :D

  • should i replace snare skins??? theyre kinda old..is it easy to change

  • @fukidomev2 Get a Remo Controlled Sound and thats easy and get some moongels and watch a bob gatzen vid

  • I love the drums but I cant for s@#!

  • this will help me for when i get myself a drumkit :D

  • i luv my drums

  • yeah drums are cool

  • Hi brother needs to chat a, Asian women busizz4me.info

  • i got the same exact heads lol lol

  • drummers are the front line you drummers are the thing that holds everything together all drummer are awesome keep the work up

  • Double pedaL!

  • Thank you for making this very basic. My son at 3 has pick up 1234 then hit 13 very good. Next is getting a drum set and not just the chop sticks and pots and pans from the cabinets.

You are starting the next generation. Be proud!!

  • @naturalcane You have a son? cool.

  • thank u. this is going to help me.

  • god that sounds so bad. not the playing, the kit...

  • I had my first lesson today and i found this basic beat very difficult is this normal. P.S i hav never played before

  • LOL. to the people with the "text" problem.. turn of the 'CC' at the bottom of the video near the fullscreen lols. ^^

  • WHAT THE FUCK!???? Get rid of the fucking text on the screen, can't see what the hell you're doing? you expect people to learn? Jesus Christ, you guys are anything BUT experts...

  • @Starbuckfsd lmao. you turn off the captions.. xD

  • @Starbuckfsd you can turn off the captions by clicking cc... you don't need to get all pissed off by a problem that can be solved so easily

  • thank you i learned how to drum.. :)

  • take the fucking thing off the screen

  • I have a dumset and am happy about that but its not the nicest it was fairly cheap but whatevs at least i have one C=

  • The dude looks like Tre Cool from Green Day! XD

  • playing DRUMS is quite easy but the BIGGEST PROB is the expensive INSTRUMENT haha!! great vid by the way

  • Around 4;00 when he was changing the snare I think it was. Was he even hitting the drum

  • Just wanted people to know, In Van Nuys ca Remo drums on Sat mornings 11am to 11:45 pick a drum and sit and play they do rythms just play along, there is no wrong, just play along!

  • Thank you so much! Im trying to teach my 6 year old son the drums , this helped alot!

  • this instrument could be the easiest, its just that you have to have the rythm inside of you, i mean, you can play for the first time the drums and suck or maybe play a normal rock beat with no problem

  • the most hardest and expensive instrument... :)

  • @xXDeathAngel27Xx Easy to play...hard to master =)

  • 1st drummer that I see on expert village that is a drummer, at least he can teach the very basics :)

  • Are you kidding me? Does this work when teaching people?

  • @Nolfski

of coz yes, this is a tutorial for dummies.

not for a pro like you buddy :P

  • inb4 Christian Bale.

  • @oneohsix you can adjust the clutch on your hi-hat to wether you want just a clicking sound, or want more of a ring to it. being left handed and playing a right handed drum set i keep it constantly closed tight and use double bass pedals.

  • Back before i got my job to play drums i just made a home made set from pvc, buckets, trashcans, and trashkan lids but i had a real kick pedal

  • nice

  • Isn't that the beat that goes the whole way through crescent city voodoo

  • that hi-hat sounds really weird. like it's missing the "sss" at the end of the hit, idk how to explain it. it's just kinda like "ttt" "ttt" instead of "ttss" "ttss" but it just is different than mine i guess. w/e.

  • @oneohsix106 he probably has his pressed tighter than you press yours

  • Im a newbie drummer, so if u got any tips, feel free to tell em ! :P

  • ahh i got a good question i been wondering how do u crash the crash with your stick what part do u use to crash it

  • @drummerkid2222 everyone tends to use the middle of the stick

  • @BlackXSouleStudios k because i does that but people tells me dont do that u use the tips because your beating up the sticks and i have been wondering for the longest time lol

  • @drummerkid2222 well as long as you hit it sort of parallel to the cymbals edge you have nothing to worry about

  • @BlackXSouleStudios k thanks cause i have used alot of sticks they would get smaller in the middle and then latter on they would break off

  • @drummerkid2222 and what kind of drum material do u prefer like sabian or what

  • @drummerkid2222 meinl :p meinl :p

  • Why do u count like that lol....but good vid :)

  • gosh~ if only I could go to my parents house and start banging our drum set!!! GAaaah!!

  • thanks for sharing.

  • what the heck how do you remember how to count like that?

  • But its a good video. its good to learn for beginners

  • i Really want to learn these variations but im having some trouble doing so. Is there any way you can dumb it down further.

eg. on count 3 do the variation on the hit hat follwed by a hit on the "snare" on count 4.

    That would be greatly appreciated

  • hopefully nobody is paying attention to how he's doing his roll... keep your fingers... my drum teacher would slap him if he saw his fingers flying like that... makes you lose control of your stick and it's gonna handicap you from playing anything more complex

  • Practicing musicians / learners, if you could fill out my easy 4 question survey for my research project it would be much appreciated. The link is in the info of my video called practicing musicians thanks.

  • these things you just said to us are not basic man

  • Great teacher:) i was just wondering if u can help with some basic beats and really dumb t down. e.g. snare on count 3 bass and snare on 4 etc

I am a first time drummer

  • Good video, but I'm sorry this really bothered me...the subtitles are SO OFF!!! >= (

  • as soon as i watched this video i went to my drumset at did it in 1min

  • my advice to aspiring drummers who don't have a kit, can't afford one, or who have no space, or for whatever reason just don't have a kit. dont' let that stop you. just buy some sticks and a practice pad. you can start building your chops. i wanted to play drums for years, until i finally got a kit because i had the money and the room. but sticks are cheap, i could have started years ago. heck you can start with even just your hands.

  • @digitaldown you're so right man,that's really right

  • @digitaldown Every time I start writing my homework I start banging on my notebook with a pen xD

  • @mi6o8 that's right dude. you can practice anywhere, anytime. just hear those beats in your head. tap your feet too. you can start learning limb independence and all kinds of skills without a kit. heck i do most of my practicing now without the kit. just use what ever is around. tap your feet. drum with your hands on your knees..whatever. it all helps.

  • @digitaldown Yeah totaly agree with you.Luckely I got a chance to play on real drums :D it was awsome and its not so hard. Its pretty fun when u get the hang of it.Cant wait till tomorrow :D

  • @digitaldown Good point. I'm a guitar player who has quickly adapted to drums and has always wanted a drum kit. (when i was at school i played on their drums), i usually practice with my feet and hands listening to tunes or either making it my self... then transpose that to Kit... i'm nearlly sorted, just practice :P

  • @digitaldown instead one should use virtual drum software it is available for free i can send link if someone requests ;)

  • @digitaldown true dat man i have a practice pad and i can play incredible beats

  • @digitaldown i don't think i can get a practice kit here should i buy like 2 pidals and something like a snare?

  • @digitaldown or u go to virtualdrumming com

  • tnx for the video...i can do the basic now....^__^

  • The first time i playing drums i do that!!

  • I could as well. Not that hard

  • this is the best expertvillage vid, all the others are shitt

  • i think you wouldn't learn doublestrokes in the first lesson

  • i learned how to do this from my friend in like a min :O

  • Is that a remo cs head on the snare?

  • The best place for information on playing the drum is music-master-pro. com

  • why do u remind me of the transformer guy ...

  • I do a little bit variation on the hi-hat but most of my variation is on the snare, bass, and tom-toms.

  • this starts well but then gets too complex too soon - why not show 8ths on hihat 1st? but for beginners it's a sensible post.

  • this dude looks like toby maguire!

  • I just got a used drum set in nice condition, it's so much fun to just bang on it but it would proly be a lot more fun to know some stuff XD

  • Comment removed

  • pretty ugly sticks.... i hate plastic...^^

  • u don't like the plastic tips lol? i like the sound they make.

  • Um ok? Well for one they are nylon tips. Two, I don't know how it makes them ugly.

  • ill second that one i myself always use wood tips i like the sound better =]

  • i got a elec drum set

  • My dad bought my brother Sonor and my brother doesn't want to play it and i want, it is similar to AC/DC's drummer set

  • me too T T my dad&mum also like that ...
