I love idiots that say if you have short arms 500 is no big deal. I really wonder if these people lift any weight at all, I really do. 500 is an incredible number, I don't give a fuck what you weigh or how short your arms are. Maybe all the gear available today has skewed peoples idea of big weight. Shirts are the only thing to facilitate some pressing 700-1000 lbs. Anything over 300 and your doing pretty well. So many guys just lift so they can throw numbers around, no fuckin heart at all.

@m5p944 I'm 5'10'' I do not have short arms, I have just gotten my back very flexable over the years from working on my arch/setup. I actually have pretty long arms. My one training partner is 6'4'' and played big college ball and we have about the same length arms...There has only been something like 50 guys to have benched 600 raw in the world regardless of age/weight so I would say 500 raw short or not is pretty impressive. @PaulBriden sorry i had to reply to this also, professional "gyms" are complete bullshit, thay dont want their fancy equipement to get chalk on it, they want you to be very quiet and, heavy for them is 200 pounds on anything, professional gyms dont know jack shit about how to bench, nor do the ppl in them, me and my 14 year old went to a so called professional gym and between my his leg press and my deadlift we used every 45 pound plate in the building,

Its seems like no matter how many studies (done over nearly a century now) all point to the fact that benching flat back leads to a great number of injuries, people will always walk into a gym and bench that way. Then, when they don't get as strong as they want, they will see people who bench big numbers with an arch, and leave stupid comments like "what can you do with your back flat against the bench, and not arched to simulate a semi decline press". lol.
@Punchy317 If you look for MuscleHack he has a video called, How To Bench Press Correctly. There are loads on various web sights which will show you how your back should be, do not take my word take a look. When i say back flat,i mean keeping the natural arch and not becoming a ceiling lifter...lol...lol
My best flat is around 475. The arch adds about 30 to my bench. Benching flat kills my shoulders. Its legal in the fed that I used to compete in so I do it. ty for the comment!

Thanks man! Yeah the arch takes some time to develope. Being a big guy is no excuse to not be flexable if you ask me. I have always been very mobile and flexable for being as stocky as I am. Thanks man. Just start arching over pipes, as you go along, a cirtain pipe will become more and more comfortable, then increase the size of the pipe. Your back will then become more and more flexable. Being a big guy is no excuse to NOT be flexable...Good luck!
Since this video...Its been one injury after another. Shoulders, wrist, elbows, left peck has been strained on and off for like 8 months now...UGH! I don't really care though. Bench is my least favorite lift out of all of them. My goal is to hit 600 raw. I wanted to have achieved this already...But it just hasn't been in the playing cards lately. Thanks for the comment!!!
Finally! Someone that understands the speed! PPL are like, hey you had another 50 lbs in you...it was hard, but looked easy bcuz of the speed. Ive always been a very fast lifetr, al;ways had a lot of speed. Now I train speed every thursday to keep it up...thanx for the comment though and good luck with the training!

Nice lift man. I think I'm around 500 on bench right now, but haven't maxed to prove it yet. I did 315x10 on incline yesterday though pretty easily. Check out the vid.
Thats about where my training partner is at right now. Thats strong! I think he is about 210 though. Your 196 and can hit 410 even with shitty form its still impressive as hell! My foirm is very shaky when I bench in the gym. When it comes down to a meet though, I am picture perfect usually. I can turn that switch on pretty good when I want to. Thank god, otherwise Id be screwed! Cuz I just bounce when I train! LOL!

Yeah, I don't worry too much about how my form is when i train, I just get the weight up at all costs. I'm not saying I just roar it off my chest, but a little bounce is okay in my book. As long as you can turn off the switch when it comes down to meet time. your okay. Thats my opinion anyways. Most of the fags on youtube will disagree though. But then again, most of them cannot bench over 200 anyway's so...LOL! Ya know.

All it really is is a rotation of movements that supplement the main 3 lifts (bench squat and deadlift) you do the rotation to prevent CNS burnout. (central nervous system) Write me on my page if you want, and I could explain it better. It really is one of the best ways to train. Although I did get my bench up to 405 by just benching once per week, followed by pushdowns, lat pull, and curls. So anything will work as long as you stick to what works for you.

I can get 200 out of a SINGLE ply shirt...The last time I was in a shirt, I could only bench like 350 raw or so...I hit 470 in a USAPL meet that year, but had hit 550 in a shirt in training....I could prolly hit around 800 in a GOOD shirt in a good fed, if I started really training in the shirt...

I use to be such a form freak on here, but I finally came to my sense and realized who cares if form isn't picture perfect all the time, as long as it helps people achieve there goals and keeps them safe and injury free most the time thats all that should matter.
Bounces don't really add that much anyways, also this was a gym lift, the only time form should be picture perfect is in competitions, that is where it truly matters.
Thats what i plan on doing. I just don't care about shirted benches anymore...Although I am very good with a shirt...I just don't give a shit bout em anymore...

In all honesty I think i am worse with bounces when I am towards my 1 rep max, I generally try to bring the bar 2-3 seconds down usually, bounces only feel easier for me i when use much lighter weight for like 15-20 reps.

No mate arm length has little to do with bench pressing, taller people take a wider grip anyway which reduces the range they are pressing, it really pisses me off whenever i hear some fkn guys in the gym who bench 150lbs claiming that some guy in the gym benches 350+ because he doesnt have as far to push it. Even if it did make a difference do they really think that it makes 200+lbs of difference?, i think fkn not somehow.

Yeah, it takes a lot of stress off my shoulders, the arch is awkward at first, but benificial in the end. It does add 10 lbs to my bench. When I first started arching, it added 10 lbs immediately. But all in all, it is easier on the shoulders. I am hoping to hit 600 raw in the next year or so. I'll post it when and if I do. If you are interested. Take care.

Hey! I only max about once a year. Well, I only do regular bench once per year I should say. The rest of the time, I am doing a rotation of max effort movements of floor presses, JM's, cambered bar presses, paused benches, benches with bands and/or chains, heavy dips (etc). I only bench raw and regular every so often to see where I am at. I did post some vids of me curling 135x16 reps,one of me hitting 550x2 raw on squat back when I had just started squatting after 3 years off.
But I am now planning on running it up to see where I am at hopefully this spring sometime. I WILL POST IT! Hopefully I hit 575-600. I am not ganna talk shit about hitting it untill I actually do though! LOL!

I was around 290 in this vid. I would compete in the 275's though. I don't really compete anymore. I just train for fun. Although I am pretty good with a bench shirt, I get almost 200 lbs out of a single ply poly. But yeah, I was just seeing if I could bench 500, thats about it, I wasnt really thinking of not bouncing. I just lowered it, when it touched my chest, I pushed back up!
You have excellent potential young man. The form is not impressive, yet you may go on to win some major events. You seem to know the elements of a good bench lies in the arch, with the shoulder blades on the bench, and the feet flat and immobile--BAM! show your true strength and flat back that shyt homey.. About the arch, just start benching over pipes. your back will begin to get more and more flexable as time goes on. The arch keeps the stress off my shoulder. It also adds about 10 lbs to the bench (for me anyways), just not having to push the bar as far. I am hoping to get 575 this winter after this next training cycle. I will post it if and when I do. Thanks man. Just start arching over pipes, as you go along, a cirtain pipe will become more and more comfortable, then increase the size of the pipe. Your back will then become more and more flexable. Being a big guy is no excuse to NOT be flexable...Good luck!

Since this video...Its been one injury after another. Shoulders, wrist, elbows, left peck has been strained on and off for like 8 months now...UGH! I don't really care though. Bench is my least favorite lift out of all of them. My goal is to hit 600 raw. I wanted to have achieved this already...But it just hasn't been in the playing cards lately. Thanks for the comment!!!

Finally! Someone that understands the speed! PPL are like, hey you had another 50 lbs in you...it was hard, but looked easy bcuz of the speed. Ive always been a very fast lifetr, al;ways had a lot of speed. Now I train speed every thursday to keep it up...thanx for the comment though and good luck with the training!

Thats about where my training partner is at right now. Thats strong! I think he is about 210 though. Your 196 and can hit 410 even with shitty form its still impressive as hell! My foirm is very shaky when I bench in the gym. When it comes down to a meet though, I am picture perfect usually. I can turn that switch on pretty good when I want to. Thank god, otherwise Id be screwed! Cuz I just bounce when I train! LOL!

Yeah, I don't worry too much about how my form is when i train, I just get the weight up at all costs. I'm not saying I just roar it off my chest, but a little bounce is okay in my book. As long as you can turn off the switch when it comes down to meet time. your okay. Thats my opinion anyways. Most of the fags on youtube will disagree though. But then again, most of them cannot bench over 200 anyway's so...LOL! Ya know.

All it really is is a rotation of movements that supplement the main 3 lifts (bench squat and deadlift) you do the rotation to prevent CNS burnout. (central nervous system) Write me on my page if you want, and I could explain it better. It really is one of the best ways to train. Although I did get my bench up to 405 by just benching once per week, followed by pushdowns, lat pull, and curls. So anything will work as long as you stick to what works for you.

I can get 200 out of a SINGLE ply shirt...The last time I was in a shirt, I could only bench like 350 raw or so...I hit 470 in a USAPL meet that year, but had hit 550 in a shirt in training....I could prolly hit around 800 in a GOOD shirt in a good fed, if I started really training in the shirt...

I use to be such a form freak on here, but I finally came to my sense and realized who cares if form isn't picture perfect all the time, as long as it helps people achieve there goals and keeps them safe and injury free most the time thats all that should matter.
Bounces don't really add that much anyways, also this was a gym lift, the only time form should be picture perfect is in competitions, that is where it truly matters.

In all honesty I think i am worse with bounces when I am towards my 1 rep max, I generally try to bring the bar 2-3 seconds down usually, bounces only feel easier for me i when use much lighter weight for like 15-20 reps.

No mate arm length has little to do with bench pressing, taller people take a wider grip anyway which reduces the range they are pressing, it really pisses me off whenever i hear some fkn guys in the gym who bench 150lbs claiming that some guy in the gym benches 350+ because he doesnt have as far to push it. Even if it did make a difference do they really think that it makes 200+lbs of difference?, i think fkn not somehow.

Yeah, it takes a lot of stress off my shoulders, the arch is awkward at first, but benificial in the end. It does add 10 lbs to my bench. When I first started arching, it added 10 lbs immediately. But all in all, it is easier on the shoulders. I am hoping to hit 600 raw in the next year or so. I'll post it when and if I do. If you are interested. Take care.

Hey! I only max about once a year. Well, I only do regular bench once per year I should say. The rest of the time, I am doing a rotation of max effort movements of floor presses, JM's, cambered bar presses, paused benches, benches with bands and/or chains, heavy dips (etc). I only bench raw and regular every so often to see where I am at. I did post some vids of me curling 135x16 reps,one of me hitting 550x2 raw on squat back when I had just started squatting after 3 years off.

I was around 290 in this vid. I would compete in the 275's though. I don't really compete anymore. I just train for fun. Although I am pretty good with a bench shirt, I get almost 200 lbs out of a single ply poly. But yeah, I was just seeing if I could bench 500, thats about it, I wasnt really thinking of not bouncing. I just lowered it, when it touched my chest, I pushed back up!

About the arch, just start benching over pipes. your back will begin to get more and more flexable as time goes on. The arch keeps the stress off my shoulder. It also adds about 10 lbs to the bench (for me anyways), just not having to push the bar as far. I am hoping to get 575 this winter after this next training cycle. I will post it if and when I do.
