I absolutely love this scene. David Bologna is fantastic as Michael. I was always a bit confused about this scene though. It seems self contradictory. At first Michael said people would think Billy was mental for auditioning for the Royal Ballet School but then goes on to say that its ok to express yourself and that if he wants to be a dancer to dance. Am I the only one slightly confused?

Considering this is an American performance, their Geordie accents are great! (Geordie accent being North East England, more specifically, Newcastle-upon-Tyne). I am from the Lake District (just over 1 hours drive from Newcastle), and I have to say that their accents are better than what many English people can come up with!!! Excellent job guys!

You know, I think its nice to see a homosexual character this young of age. And it's nice to see a straight character experimenting around innocently in what society likes to label "gay activity". For Michael, we were presented with Griffin Birney on March 13th during its tour. I should have gotten his autograph. How did they cast a young kid with perfect comedic timing? Don't ask. How did they cast a young boy in this society to adorn himself with girl's clothes? Ummmmm.

FYI - The creative team deliberately ignored race or ethnicity in casting the show. For example, Layton Williams - one of the early London Billys, who held the record for number of times playing the role until Trent Kowalik broke it - was a black kid from London. Also one of the very early London Billys was Matthew Koon, a boy of Asian heritage. David Alvarez, (Billy in this clip) has parents who defected from Cuba, and he was born in Canada.
