How typically idiotic and arrogant of you DrSatan to accuse me of being dumb without any argument or evidence. That is exactly how you idiot global warming nutters carryon on. The truth is that there has been no sea level rise any different than what has been happening fo rthe last 300 years and more. In any case, if you studied the scientific literature you would know that recently sea levels have been falling.
Nobody knows how much Sea levels will rise. But Co2 emissions are increasing worldwide, in some places at an alarming rate. India's emissions are projected to increase by 300% in the next 20 years.

the southern coast of greenland was ice free around 1000 years ago when the vikings colonized it and lived there for over 100 years. This was during the medieval warm period, where it was warmer then today. Also, global temps haven't gone up since 1999, even though CO2 has 4%. And there has been REAL scientific studies (not the IPCC kind) that show CO2 does NOT drive global temp, temp rises, then CO2. Global warming has utterly failed all 5 of it's hypothesis' predictions. YOU need to wake up.
guys stop lying to your selves and others. dr james hansen. and other guys with phd.s no more then you. just because you belive in doomday boogie man stories. dont lie about facts the ice is f..cking melting. greenland is a high elevation of 12000ft of pure ice. and stop attacking al gore he.s not an expert.and for your 2 bit soo call experts pay of by oil companies.deal with ittttt..
ur an idiot if u think that little piece of ice is going to raise the global sea level 20 feet, do u know how massive the ocean is? ur weather man cant tell u for sure if its going to rain tomorrow, but now u want to believe that the ocean is going to rise 20 feet some time in the near future.. ahaha, the sun and clouds control the climate and temp not humans, temperature determines co2 and not the other way around.. take the cloth from over ur eyes believe wats real not wat is popular..
Whatever heights the sea falls and rises to, there is too much weather phenomena that occurs. Thanks for posting this, it looks like it was an interesting project. Nice job.
It's interesting that the volume of the oceans is so great that greenland ice melted would have no effect at all. Off Tonga its over 10,000 meters deep and off Java even deeper - Greenland is like a man floating in a 50 meter pool -when he gets out it makes no difference
Geographically Tonga and Java are much further apart from Greenland, the land masses are extremely smaller than GL, Ocean depths seem to vary and the ice caps melting off of GL, considering its diameter, can ultimately be the culprit to the significant change of course for the ocean and the atmosphere. The increase in rainfall creating devistating floods, tsunamis etc. therefore eliminating small islands such as Tonga and Java...
On a global basis, world sea ice in April 2008 reached levels that were "unprecedented" for the month of April in over 25 years. Levels are the third highest (for April) since the commencement of records in 1979. This continues a pattern established earlier in 2008, as global sea ice in March 2008 was also the third highest March on record, while January 2008 sea ice was the second highest January on record.
Sea has been expanding in east antarctica (this well know to climate science) However, west antartica has undergone significant summer melt. Populations of krill have collapsed in some areas. 2007 Summer sea ice in the artic was 43% down since 1979. Sea Ice thickness has decreased by 40% between 1958 and 1997. Most of the warming is occuring in the arctic. Increased ice flow in the jakobsahvn ice stream in greenland. incrasing icequakes in greenland. The list goes on.
Futhermore Sea ice does not add to sea level rise it simply acts as a buffer against glaciers from sliding into the ocean. There is great concern that lubrication of glacier is increased runoff from west anarctica and greenland is increasing. This runoff falls into moulans and lubricates glaciers. There uncertaintiy to the degree that this is happening. The IPCC ignored these facts completely.

Take NASA or Hadley data for the past 7 years ... plot it ... do a regression ... temperatures are steadily FALLING ... and as fast as they were predicted to rise !!!!!
1998 was by far the hottest year in the past decade.
fozzworth - what? you haven't noticed that there is a temperature bar to the right of each map in the video you've posted?
This temperature bar goes up to ridiculously unevidence levels - 6 degrees C as far as I can make out. This is no less than 10 times what we have seen (at most) in the last century and even the IPCC admits that about half of that rise was caused by natural variation.
before you jump to conclusions about me "noticing things", maybe you should notice something. its not a temperature bar, its an elevation bar. It goes up to 6 meters, not 6 Celsius.
Fozzworth - yes, but where do you get your fantasies about 6 metres of sea level rise? Ove3r the next 10,000 years, maybe. So what? Even cavemen managed to adapt to equivalent and much higher rises. Why shouldn't we be able to adapt cheaply and easily? Holland has adapted very nicely thankyou since the 16th century.
Sea levels around Tuvalu and the Maldives have been falling.
1st off. your loosing the arguement due to a lack of information. you were upset because you were confused about the "temperature scale" that you imagined was included in the animation.
2nd. there were not 7 billion "cavemen" when they had to adapt to rising sea water. and caveman is such a generic term, that school children learn. be more specific.
3rd. 6 meters was chosen as our level of inundation because that is how much ice is landlocked in greenland. if greenland melted, it would rise 6m
fozzworth - it's absurd to say "if greenland melted" - no reputable scientists suggest that this is possible in less than about 800,000 years of warming. Nor could the ice mass slip into the sea because it rests in a great big bowl of terrain.
"If" is the greatest supporting actor in Al Gore's lunatic film. If pigs could fly they would.
As for adaptation, the important point is that if we spent less than 1% of Kyoto we could strengthen all needed sea defences now.
@fozzworth Well, tough, due to earths cycle, even if humans were not on this planet. The ice will all melt. If humans cant adapt, then they die, nothing we can do about it.
@minilemur Oh this is rich - A retarded kid has been reading a bunch of blogs filled with bullshit articles sourcing a bunch of people claiming to be scientists, who misinterpreted a bunch of data to fit their desired world view and called it science just because someone with a degree in meteorology agrees with them. Then by extension, everybody reading articles that source this bullshit material will claim to base their knowledge on scientific facts. Typical.
Correct minilemur. I just returned from Tonga (170 islands west of Samoa)The sea level is 2.2 to 3.0 metres lower than it used to be. They're not worried - I could see that a 3 foot increase wouldn't have any effect on them. No on'es concerned or even discusses such silly ideas except for the Al Gores and uneducated masses. Google in "Hegelic Dialectic" & learn what Al Gore is really doing & have a happy life
theinvisblewun - your sarcasm is risible but not in the way you intended. Australians started a project a few years ago to install new tide gauges on pacific islands because the old ones weren't showing rise in sea level. They had to abandon the project. No rise in sea levels!
A 3 foot rise in Tonga and Samoa is wildly fantastic science fiction, not consistent with observed science.
You are right about the silliness of Al Gore. I already know what he's doing - making millions from the scam.
Attention the person with a high IQ - you are called an academic. Macquarie dictionery def: theoretical not practical. Al Gore is a politician not even an academic - that's worse.
Rising Sea Levels BS; fill a glass with ice then fill to the very top with water. Wait for all the ice to melt and notice that the water level is the same - not one drop over flowed. Ice is a crystal mainly air. Melting of the poles and glaciers doesn't affect water levels. A proven fact. Education helps.
fozzworth - in relation to the ice landlocked in Greenland and Antarctica - no need to panic. The balance of the scientific evidence indicates that these vast ice masses are in ice mass balance. Additionally, the Antarctic ice mass has existed since 60 million years ago without interruption even though there have been many much warmer periods than the present. Even the IPCC 2007 4AR admits that it expects very little sea level rise as a result of ice melting.
wow a guy with PhD in chem and with a IQ of over 150 replying a moron, should I be honored? and btw my grammar suck because I don't live in a English speaing country, do you know another language Mr, genius?
Educate yourself, rather than wallow in your stupidity.
The article is written by the head of the IPCC sea level group. He says that there is NO evidence for significant future sea level changes. The IPCC changed his data to suit its political goals.
All hail might Sydney doc. Stop being so petty correcting him for his spelling. If you are so intelligent you would know global warming is a very serious issue. However, I do agree that calling someone a moron is wrong but it is well know that IPCC left significant data about greenland melting out of the picture.
Rubbish. Try plotting some temperatures for yourself from the Hadley Centre data ... do a regression using Excel (if you have the brains) ... temperatures are FALLING !!!
I have studied many temperature graphs and I have done many ANOVAs and regressions on excel. I study birds and I have seen major population changes due to climate. Look up articles on the grey jay. My brother who studies climatology has plotted tempertaure for my home area and they coincide with the "evil hockey stick graph". get a Phd in climatology genius.
Wake up dopey! Mann's famous "hockey stick" that started all the nonsense was shown to be a fraud in the Wegman report, commissioned by congress. Even the IPCC dropped it like a hot potato in their last report.
The IPCC has left important facts such as Greenland melt, the IPCC is not the absolute of climate change research. The wegman report is a joke. Many independent scientists would disagree with you about refuting recent warming acceleration. There is too much at risk with climate change. GHGs are not the only negative aspect about fossil fuels. I hope you see the truth sometime.
Looks like London might just make it! Seriously though...it will take 1000s of years to rise 6m, even with an accelerated Global warming.
Maybe it will rise like 2 ft per 100 years? According to scientists.

the southern coast of greenland was ice free around 1000 years ago when the vikings colonized it and lived there for over 100 years. YOU need to wake up.

you set it for 6 m, try 60 m that what happend when the icecaps are gone
Tbonyandsteak 3 years ago
Northpole is gone this year.
If the ice aroud Greenland and Southpole is gone this will happen.
a:
The ice worked as a warmreflecter too the sun.
If gone water work as warmkeeper and absorber.
means the melting off greenland and Southpols melt faster.
b: freshwater lake will appear on the land making the ice moving faster too the sea.
And there is not enough snow comming in the winter too keep the ice status.
So Fact is THIS IS AN ACCELERATING MELT EFFECT

guys stop lying to your selves and others. dr james hansen. and other guys with phd.s no more then you. just because you belive in doomday boogie man stories. dont lie about facts the ice is f..cking melting. greenland is a high elevation of 12000ft of pure ice. and stop attacking al gore he.s not an expert.and for your 2 bit soo call experts pay of by oil companies.deal with ittttt..

How nice of people to be concerned for those alive in 40 generations from now.
I guess any current problems are not priorities.
AGW is a doom & gloom hoax.

ur an idiot if u think that little piece of ice is going to raise the global sea level 20 feet, do u know how massive the ocean is? ur weather man cant tell u for sure if its going to rain tomorrow, but now u want to believe that the ocean is going to rise 20 feet some time in the near future.. ahaha, the sun and clouds control the climate and temp not humans, temperature determines co2 and not the other way around.. take the cloth from over ur eyes believe wats real not wat is popular..

Whatever heights the sea falls and rises to, there is too much weather phenomena that occurs. Thanks for posting this, it looks like it was an interesting project. Nice job.

It's interesting that the volume of the oceans is so great that greenland ice melted would have no effect at all. Off Tonga its over 10,000 meters deep and off Java even deeper - Greenland is like a man floating in a 50 meter pool -when he gets out it makes no difference
theinvisiblewun 3 years ago
Geographically Tonga and Java are much further apart from Greenland, the land masses are extremely smaller than GL, Ocean depths seem to vary and the ice caps melting off of GL, considering its diameter, can ultimately be the culprit to the significant change of course for the ocean and the atmosphere. The increase in rainfall creating devistating floods, tsunamis etc. therefore eliminating small islands such as Tonga and Java...

Antarctic sea ice area reached 16.2 million squared kilometers in 2007 - a new absolute record high since the measurements started in 1979

That is true.

1998 was by far the hottest year in the past decade.
sydneydoc 3 years ago
Surely the now accepted trend the last 10 years has NOT been an increase in temperature.
Also, I read recently that the scientific 'concensus' on global warming amounts to only 7% - yes, seven percent - of world scientists!

ANTARCTIC ICE GROWS TO RECORD SIZE
It is now at 16.17 million sq. km.
The old record is 16.03 million sq. km
And the Antarctic is still growing.
According to Al Gore's predictions this wasn't supposed to happen.
MagentaTrue 3 years ago
This video is absurd alarmism. It shows temperatures rising 10 times what's likely to happen based on the trend for the last 150 years.
Even the ultra-alarmist IPCC only predicts sea level rises of 20cm or so over the next 100 years. No cause for alarm.
The Netherlands has managed that rate of sea level rise for the last 1,000 years without too much problem. Cool your ludicrous alarmism.
minilemur 3 years ago
where does the video show temperature rising?
fozzworth 3 years ago
fozzworth - what? you haven't noticed that there is a temperature bar to the right of each map in the video you've posted?
This temperature bar goes up to ridiculously unevidence levels - 6 degrees C as far as I can make out. This is no less than 10 times what we have seen (at most) in the last century and even the IPCC admits that about half of that rise was caused by natural variation.
minilemur 3 years ago
before you jump to conclusions about me "noticing things", maybe you should notice something. its not a temperature bar, its an elevation bar. It goes up to 6 meters, not 6 Celsius.
fozzworth 3 years ago
Fozzworth - yes, but where do you get your fantasies about 6 metres of sea level rise? Ove3r the next 10,000 years, maybe. So what? Even cavemen managed to adapt to equivalent and much higher rises. Why shouldn't we be able to adapt cheaply and easily? Holland has adapted very nicely thankyou since the 16th century.
Sea levels around Tuvalu and the Maldives have been falling.
minilemur 3 years ago
1st off. your loosing the arguement due to a lack of information. you were upset because you were confused about the "temperature scale" that you imagined was included in the animation.
2nd. there were not 7 billion "cavemen" when they had to adapt to rising sea water. and caveman is such a generic term, that school children learn. be more specific.
3rd. 6 meters was chosen as our level of inundation because that is how much ice is landlocked in greenland. if greenland melted, it would rise 6m
fozzworth 3 years ago
fozzworth - it's absurd to say "if greenland melted" - no reputable scientists suggest that this is possible in less than about 800,000 years of warming. Nor could the ice mass slip into the sea because it rests in a great big bowl of terrain.
"If" is the greatest supporting actor in Al Gore's lunatic film. If pigs could fly they would.
As for adaptation, the important point is that if we spent less than 1% of Kyoto we could strengthen all needed sea defences now.
minilemur 3 years ago

Typical.
ervin2 1 year ago
Correct minilemur. I just returned from Tonga (170 islands west of Samoa)The sea level is 2.2 to 3.0 metres lower than it used to be. They're not worried - I could see that a 3 foot increase wouldn't have any effect on them. No on'es concerned or even discusses such silly ideas except for the Al Gores and uneducated masses. Google in "Hegelic Dialectic" & learn what Al Gore is really doing & have a happy life
theinvisiblewun 3 years ago
theinvisblewun - your sarcasm is risible but not in the way you intended.

Education helps.
theinvisiblewun 4 years ago
your theory only includes the ice that is floating in water. what about the ice that is landlocked (greenland, antarctica, glaciers)? think about it.
fozzworth 3 years ago
fozzworth - in relation to the ice landlocked in Greenland and Antarctica - no need to panic.

All hail might Sydney doc. Stop being so petty correcting him for his spelling. If you are so intelligent you would know global warming is a very serious issue. However, I do agree that calling someone a moron is wrong but it is well know that IPCC left significant data about greenland melting out of the picture.

Rubbish. Try plotting some temperatures for yourself from the Hadley Centre data ... do a regression using Excel (if you have the brains) ... temperatures are FALLING !!!
sydneydoc 3 years ago
I have studied many temperature graphs and I have done many ANOVAs and regressions on excel. I study birds and I have seen major population changes due to climate. Look up articles on the grey jay. My brother who studies climatology has plotted tempertaure for my home area and they coincide with the "evil hockey stick graph". get a Phd in climatology genius.
carlwegenschimmel 3 years ago
Wake up dopey! Mann's famous "hockey stick" that started all the nonsense was shown to be a fraud in the Wegman report, commissioned by congress. Even the IPCC dropped it like a hot potato in their last report.
sydneydoc 3 years ago
The IPCC has left important facts such as Greenland melt, the IPCC is not the absolute of climate change research. The wegman report is a joke. Many independent scientists would disagree with you about refuting recent warming acceleration. There is too much at risk with climate change. GHGs are not the only negative aspect about fossil fuels. I hope you see the truth sometime.
