Mugabe has been buddies with the DPRK from day one. It was the Koreans who trained fifth brigade right after independence. Tribalistic? That's the problem. Mugabe knew full well of the Shona/Ndebele rivalry and took advantage of it. It was also extremely cruel, using soldiers who would not only welcome the opportunity to kill a rival tribe, but had violent tendencies as well.
If Mugabe had set up the army so that members would come from all tribes equally, then things would've been different.
The bottom line is, these dictators exploit tribal rivalries for their own gain.

The Vendas have even moved to SA, while Zambians and Malawians have gone back to the land of their ancestors. The Mugabe government called these people dissidents, hunted them down, some fled to SA, UK, etc. They went on to close their radio and TV broadcasting stations and there was only Shona broadcasting with songs of 'Chimuranga' This is th history of Zimbabwe and people have a right to know it not sweep it under the carpet.

Let me see...maybe the fact that people are being killed, or the fact that 10 billion dollars in Zimbabwe wont even buy a loaf of bread, or maybe the fact that there is unemployment of about 80%? But the thing that irks me most is that the west has a reputation of letting people die in Africa because to them, we are subhuman and dont deserve the same basic human rights protections and freedoms that everyone else gets. For example, look at Rwanda, Sudan, Congo, Zimbabwe.

The Matabele were related to the Zulus. They came north in the 1830's and spread death and destuction in the Zulu way; wiping out the locals and taking the remnant as slaves. This may be written by 'white propaganda puppets' or not; the point is, it is TRUE.
Now people, and even cultures can change; there may well have been respect between the two tribes in the 20th century. But one of the two tribes only existed because of British imperial action in the 19th century.

Mugabe has been buddies with the DPRK from day one. It was the Koreans who trained fifth brigade right after independence. It worked out well because he could get military expertise for his hit squad while circumventing the old Rhodesian military which trained his other security forces. This gave him a totally loyal, well trained outfit that no whites were involved with. this gave him carte blanche to do what he wanted with those soldiers without the Rhodesians interfering.
