In fact, Canada/ Europe have found that American kids are healthy, because without money, you can get prenatal care and food. and they are the easiest and cheapest to adopt. It is rare to find out that the adoption was a scam. 25k brings out a lot of scams. Further, the African ideal of adoption is very different from the west. Adopt to them mean you care for a child a while, and give it back.

@thesouthrapsucks Can't get 25k for and American child. It is called trafficking. Also, people in America have the ideal that if it is not from America, it must be better. And the physical aspect can't be ignored as the children from northern Ethiopia, where most of the kids on the video are from, look lighter/more arab or mixed race, where the one boy at 3:50 is from the south, and is "more stereotypically" African looking, for lack of a better word.

@rosey312 why would someone adopt based on looks? in america a Ethiopian is going to deal with the same prejudices as an african american, and they are typically no lighter. I think people are adopting for the wrong reasons, it's not so much about having a family but more about making in investment so when you are old you can have someone to care for you, that should not be what adoption is about.

@Miikaika25 True, but I have first hand witnessed whites change their behavior/opinion of someone with black/brown skin when they say that they are Haitians, Cuban, or even African even when they are born in the US. There are whites who would not adopt a US black child,who will adopt one from Brazil. It is a difficult mindset to understand.The northern Ethiopian are lighter with sharper features than the southern people. See Matilda's log from Dec, 09, Ancient descriptions of ancient Egyptians.

@terriakabooty the price is high and i often wonder why people choose to adopt international over the many children who are waiting in the corrupt U.S. system, however you have to understand the high price prevents child trafficking and other horrors that come along when people get things for cheap or free, imagine if it only cost $500 to get a child? or even free? it would be all too tempting for those who want to do nothing but harm, so when you think about it, the price is fair.

adoption is not all good u know. children who are adopted can suffer from serious psychological issues. international adoption is no different. adopt 'for' various countries? research b4 u do anything. ur taking a child away from what he or she knows, fomr his country and his friends. its not as beautiful as u think it is.

There is no reason you should not be able to adopt. My husband and I are looking to go to Ethiopia. If you are single you would only have to make about $11,000/yr to be eligible. (125% of the poverty guidelines). Go for it this children need loving families.

look on the internet for an agency in your state that works with international adoption. Then call them up or email and ask to go to an informational meeting or seminar. Be as prepared as you can be before hand. There are a lot of couples and you might feel out of place. All the same stick around and get a grip on the process. Ask questions, talk to people, the agency can hook you up with people to talk to. Good Luck!!

I wish this was true, unfortunately orphanages worldwide would sadly have to show you the Muslim children inside their walls with no family to care for them. Many of my childrens freinds from their orphange came from Muslim homes.
