Musicians get paid. That money can be taxed to go to healthcare. Do you have any idea what would happen if all the artists in the world disappeared? We'd live in a horribly drab, probably dictatorial society. Art is what makes us human. There are also so many people that can be bankers or construction worker in this world. @towerclimber37 The facts are otherwise. For what it's worth, Obama's economic stimulus plan included more than $200 billion in tax cuts, so more than likely your taxes went down this year, not up. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised however if your job's insurance plan raised your premiums, but that is exactly why we needed HCR - to stop this kind of fleecing. The law requires that 85% of premiums to be used for care, or be refunded to you, btw.

You must be the only one in the country then, because that is simply not the way the HCR tax credit is being funded. What you are looking at is an increase in the amount your private insurance plan is taking out of your paycheck, and your right, it's been going up every year. Most of the HCR provisions haven't even gone into effect yet.

If you are worried about illegal immigrants so much you should allow them buy into the insurance exchange (and pay taxes) so that they contribute their fair share, not keep them going to emergency rooms where they raise hospital costs for everyone. Many want to pay, and deserve a path to citizenship.

Taxpayers contribute only to the extent a tax credit is given by the govt. Yes, this is a type of subsidy (we subsidize all sorts of things, wars, highways, even Halliburton!), but it is a good deal. Without it you end up paying in other ways most notably by people using the Emergency Room for primary care. In the end, when ALL of the costs and benefits are looked at, HCR will actually save the people of this nation money and make us a healthier nation to boot.

So, we already had a shortage of doctors and Obamacare adds 34 million insured individuals to the mix.
