  • that's a good point that girls dont say it

  • I've heard a mother of a lesbian daughter say "that's gay" all the time... and it's like... what the hell is wrong with you? You're own daughter is gay. Just sad.

  • Firat comment and its on an old video. Anyway you have a really cool personality and i could watch you all day. Okay that sounded creepy but im just tryna say your not the boring type of vlogger.

    Keep it up.

"Lets talk about Charlie Sheen." "Uh...lets not" lmao.

  • One of the smartest guys in my grade said that's so gay and a girl told him you just made yourself sound really stupid. Months later he was making a point in English and there's something about an angel but it was a guy with the angel costume or something, and he kept saying fairy when making his point to the class. When he realized it was an angel, he was like oh, that was really offensive too, sorry. When he said that's so gay, I don't think it was homophobic, it just sort of happened.

  • It does have a hint of not being intelligent

  • I agree with you Brandon

  • I think I've said it like once or twice but i don't say it regularly. I think it's offensive. It's like someone saying,"that's so nigger." I would take offense because I'm black. Although I don't really think nigger is a "bad word", used in that context I would be offended.

  • just wondering is he gay?:)

  • ...certain people will always let you down, but when there is no evidence of sense at all you become a little annoyed and less patient. The irritating habit of the phrase 'That's so Gay 'is so brainless and pathetic, anyone saying this ought to be kicked in the head! Literally....

  • It can be insulting, in the same way saying"That's so lame" can be insulting. Just sayin...

  • I know a lot of girls that say it.

I usually reply with a long long rant, and then he or she will never say that again in my presence.

  • LOL~ luckily asian not popular with that insulting word! LOL

  • @redsmas right you acaully calm down!:L

  • In the UK there is a lot of Gay bullying that goes without notice, there was a news article about it and a lot of Teachers started cracking down on it. Apparently using the word gay to mean bad counts as bullying, during a media studies class in college somebody said "that's so gay" the teacher got very angry and gave them a telling off for it. I find that in some situations I find it offensive, but because it has become a part of our slang it is quite often accepted or unnoticed.

  • Gay was not originally homosexual. It was orignally happy or merry. I do not identify with "gay". I do try not to use that phrase, and I am not bashing you for identifying with being "gay", but I do not see that word as having any one true meaning anymore.

  • I have to admit, before I found out I was lesbian I sometimes (very rarely) used that phrase, but I never knew that it meant anything else than "that's so weird." At that stage in my life, I didn't even know what 'gay' meant.

I'm not tremendously offended when people use that phrase, but I don't exactly appreciate it either. But wow, Brian, you were really agitated about it!

  • @jennyshim0503

He's not the only one, a lot people are :/

  • they say 'gay' when not refer to sexuality its mean something boring or lame... that is far from its original 'happy' meaning... stop using those phrase...

  • Same thing with "no homo"!

  • hoy YOUR PERFECT

    please move to ireland :)

  • I agree with you

  • @dontdrown14omg I seriously was JUST about to say the exact same thing!

  • That also happens with the word 'retarded' people are using it just to use it, and they don't understand the negative meaning that it holds, and the people they are offending when they use it. I think it's a testament to how uneducated the majority of the world is towards gays and differently-abled people.

  • That's so straight

  • I try not to get offended by it but I hate when people use the phrase because I know some people do get offended.

  • I got sick of this guy saying that all of the time in university, so I came out to him and told him that I didn't appreciate using what I am as an insult. He stopped using it, but I was still pissed off, because it is like saying that something is so nigg* every time something is stupid. How would black people feel? I just hate the world we live in.

  • When I was younger I said it without thinking, but then I realized what it meant. I think people hear it when they are young without thinking, and then get into a habit. I hate it when I hear it.

  • I also hate when someone use "gay" as a negative thing, to say that something doesn't work

  • are you kidding the girls in my school use that phrase all the time! its so annoying!!

  • Unfortunately, it's pretty widespread in New Zealand. I also take offense to it, and I tend to give my friends a small lecture when they do though. But.. I've only seen it get used a bit more, which really annoys me.

  • its not only America, in germany its used too. Only the translation is "schwul". Which leads to another problem.."schwul" sounds like "cool". So stupid kids tend to say: "ich bin cool und du bist schwul" (I'm cool and you're gay)

  • Wow so true

  • I don't use it ever, but I don't take offense when it is said, if you think about it is stupid and immature but a lot of my friends use it and it really doesn't bother me.

  • I dont like to use it, because its cliche, and I guess offensive towards my gay friends.

But I still use it once in a while. Even my gay friends use it.

  • Words have great power to heal or hurt. Expressions like 'That's so gay!' can hurt, unintentionally or not. I applaud your speaking out against such subliminal bigotry. Silence has never triumphed over anything. If the only voice the bigot hears is his own he grows louder and more secure in his standing. Still worse, impressionable minds will follow that single loud voice because you - not the bigot – never allowed them to hear yours. You're a wonderful role model for people of all ages.

  • do u ever say something is retarded? cuz its the same thingg

  • The way you tell us that phrase is stupid is so gay (lol, I was kidding)

  • i use to say something is gay a lot before i accepted myself as being gay then i realized how immature and dumb it was to say:)

  • I agree. Im totally straight, but it pisses me off soooo much when i hear my friends say "That's so gay" Not cool.

  • I get it I understand I do but I also agree with the dude three spaces behind me that its an expression commonly used and just because someone says it doesn't make them ignorant or intolerant so I'm kinda mixed on this one does a simple phrase really speak that loudly bout someone Idk what u think.,,,,,,

  • Technically it means or used to mean at least, happy, so they could be saying thats so happy...technically

  • @monkey130694 Technically yes, but the truth of the matter is that the word 'gay' is being used negatively as "dumb" or "stupid", and I think it clear that its negative usage stems from a negative perception of homosexuality.

  • Many of my female and gay friends use this phrase, and i've used it around them without them being offended. Words are simply words. The true importance is the intent and meaning behind them. So instead of immediately taking offense, why not choose to look at the intent first? I've really never understood why people take offense to terms or phrases like this without even considering the intent or usage.

  • @anon19283746 And I've never understood why people would use this word as opposed to another word...they could just say it's stupid...how hard is that? Also...uneducated language should always be discouraged...like "Bitch" or "Dumbass" although you can say what you want! XD

  • I agree! I take personal offense to the term. However by giving it that weight it gives the users a tool flog me/ us with. So there is a dichotomy, but I try to take best from both.

  • I really love the Wanda Sykes PSA about "that's so gay" Not only is she hilarious and I'm always excited to see her in anything. I like that she's using her humor to send a message. Personally I'm from a place where "don't be such a fag" and like phrases were commonly used so while I give my people dirty looks if I hear them say it, I'm aware that there are worse things they could be saying.

  • Well, German youngsters use that expression as well. Honestly that becomes annoying over time. :/

  • When people say that, I reply with "I'm gay". It gets all awkward and then I walk away :)

  • I'm straight, but I get offended when people say "That's gay."! It pisses me off, cus It's wrong. Whenever someone says "That's gay" I always say "That's so straight!" XD

  • i hate when people OVERuse gay as a derogatory term. I'm bisexual and one of my friends is gay. I don't mind when my friends say 'gay' in that way, but when they do it over and over again, it gets annoying because I feel like they're talking as if they have no regard for me, or more so, my friend. But I have to say, I've only really noticed that people say it so much since I came out in school.

  • Ugh I hate it when people say that. And I'm a straight girl. For some reason, I have some kind of fondness towards gays; maybe it has something to do with the fact I grew up thinking about romance a lot, and particularly in a movie or book when there was a 'forbidden love' I would really connect emotionally with that. Eventually, I came to think of gays as society's 'forbidden lovers'. That thought has sort of melted away as the world around me became more tolerant of gays, but the feeling of l

  • A few girls at my school are starting to say it. It bothers me so much!

  • I ended up saying "Really you think it's gay? I think it's kinda hetero."

  • Comment removed

  • Ok not true to the guy under my comment. I have heard lots of pretty girls say it I don't care wit people say I know I'm not lame or stupid so when people say that's so gay I don't take offense cuz their Just ignorant as to how it affects people.

  • i don't like when people use that phrase :(

  • That phrase and "that's retarded." Those really piss me off.

  • @JohnMichaelBradshaw same here! I hate that too!

  • I used to be against ppl who say that, but now even my other gay friends say it, so I stopped xD

  • Send to friend videos!!!

  • But the irony is that the word or term "Gay" used for same-sex/gender partnership or homosexuality (as it were) came about as "slang" anyway. In other it words it came about from a misuse of the word "gay". So that's what I always find interesting about his whole debate.

  • I'm not gonna be that dude who says I never use that word...cause I do and have...

I always catch myself saying it and feel horrible after...I'm REALLY gonna try after this video..

  • Woah Woah Woah, leave drugs out of this!

  • That's so not gay!

  • Well, I'm gay, and all of my friends use the phrase. I even use the phrase. I dunno. I simply don't take offense to it. I don't know why, but whatever. I'd rather fight for my rights then to fight over the meaning of a word. I'm homosexual. Use the term gay however you want.

  • I wouldn't take offense to it . Back in the 1960s people would say: "He's so straight". & "straight society" as a form of denigration. when you are with your gay friends say "He's so hetero" with a critical intonation. The thing is that most straight people don't clarify what gay means in a wider cultural sense. To them gay = Big Gay Al, John Travolta in Hair etc. It's very superficial. The media is Capitalist. Capitalism needs breeders to produce future units of labour and consumption.

  • This is so stupid. I'm offended that homosexuals think they're the only ones who can identify with the word "gay." I myself identify with the word gay, because I am a happy person. Seriously, get the fuck over it. If it's not used offensively towards a person then please, take the tampon out your ass -- wait did i offend you again? I meant it as in don't be so uptight.

  • @vitovigga

The word "gay" has had a duel meaning for centuries. Not only did it mean "happy" but it also meant "sexually loose" as well. It was used to describe prostitutes and the like, however; people started to misuse the word and used it to label homosexuals. Homosexuals did not try to take the word "gay". It was forced upon them by bigoted heterosexuals. Also, there's no point in being using words that offend when you are fully capable of using other words.

  • @lulz666f exactly my point, if the word gay was forced upon homosexuals then why associate yourselves with a word that was meant to hurt you in the first place? and now get mad when people use that word in a negative term, not referring to a person, you bitch and complain that the word gay only represents homosexuals.

  • @vitovigga "if the word gay was forced upon homosexuals then why associate yourselves with a word that was meant to hurt you in the first place"

Because it was about taking power away from the bigots. Same thing with the N-Word.

"and now get mad when people use that word in a negative term"

The word gays now means homosexual. Language evolves. Knowing this, why link negativity with the word? For what purpose?

  • @lulz666f but the negativity isnt towards a person. if anything the word bitch is a more offensive word. its primary meaning is a female dog, then people started using it to describe people in a negative way. when someone says "Thats so gay." theyre are not talking about a person. when someone says "Shes a bitch." then it is about someone. even "no homo" is more offensive. "i love you bro, NO HOMO!" like yeah i love you like a brother, but only in the straight way! never gay!

  • @vitovigga

It doesn't matter what you, as an individual, mean it as. The fact of the matter is, is that the word is known, by the vast majority of the world, to mean homosexual. You're still linking it in with negativity, whether you acknowledge it or not. Also, "no homo" is probably the stupidest saying I have ever heard. If something was not meant to be construed as “gay”, why try to bother with it with "no homo"? Also, what's wrong with something being "gay"?

  • @lulz666f so im not suppose to say a word just because some people identify themselves with that word? everyone knows fag is a derogatory term for homosexual, but over in the UK a fag is a cigarette. just because a word is hurtful in one way, people are supposed to not use it at all anymore, even though they dont use it to hurt anyone? that just proves people are so uptight nowadays. and of course its wrong for a thing to be gay because it means its crap. now a person being gay is perfectly fine

  • @vitovigga Its not that you can not use the word. By definition the word Gay means "happy, or "homosexual." When you use the phrase "That's so gay" it doesnt make sense....and in some cases is hurtful to others. What I believe this video is trying to get across is that the word gay does not mean what others are using it as....and should not be used in the manner people are using it.

  • I just sent this to a friend of mine who's a girl who said it while we were chatting on skype. Great video!

  • I use the word. I honestly dont seem the harm in it.

  • i always say "that so gay" even though im gay. and i really only know girls who say it. i do know this one guy who pretty much uses it for everything, although im pretty sure hes gay xD. either way i dont really care, but also remember that gay means happy :D.

  • Esa frase carece de sentido ya que los gays no son iguales, es ignoracia o comodidad por parte del locutor, en lo personal no me incomoda, siento que si le das mucha importancia sólo se fortalece, en eso caso las rubias también deberían sentirse ofendidas por todo lo que se dice de ellas, es cuestión de puntos de vista.

  • I know members of the lgbt community that use the word 'gay' to mean stupid and somehow think it's okay because they themselves are homo- or bisexual. That bothers me. Why would I want to use something that is part of my identity as a pejorative? if anyone has read the book how to be popular, 'that's so steph landry' becomes a huge insult and, of course, steph landry takes offense. Using someone's identity to insult people is just...dskfjadsjkhfkaljh...

  • As a happy person, I am so offended that people have misconstrued the word "gay" to refer to homosexuals.

  • @Paulmarti hahaha i love this!

  • I know plenty of people, including girls, who use either "gay" or "retarded" exclusively to refer to things that are, like you said, lame or stupid. Needless to say, they aren't exactly the smartest people in the world, and it really shows in their choice of words and lack of concern for the people whose feelings they might be stepping on.

  • I personally only say "You're gay" or "That's gay" if I actually do mean homosexual. I don't understand why people use it in other ways.

  • I agree with you, but I mean sometimes I do say it, but I don't like think "oh I'm going to be insulting a gay person", which I support gays 110% and I rarely say it anyhow, but I don't think everyone who says it is purposely insulting homosexuals.

  • i kinda knew this was offensive but i will completely stop using the word gay that way . u make a good point .

  • Wow, i feel like such an idiot. I actually have used this all the time. Never really thought of it, Thanks for opening my eyes. sounds cheesy but yea

  • I just made a video about the same thing and it seems pretty similar. I didn't watch anyone else's video before making mine, but I just wanted to see how other people felt about the issue. At least someone else sees a disturbing trend out there.

  • marry me :D

  • I'll admit, back when I was in the closet and in denial I used to say "That's gay" a lot. But once I dug deeper into my sexuality and learned to accept myself I saw how idiotic it is...

Haven't said it in ~4-5 years. It really annoys me when I hear people say it, or when people call other people fags/faggots. I don't think people realize its a derogatory phrase meant to insult homosexuals...Or maybe they just don't care. It's a sad society we live in.

  • It really irritates the shit out of me when I hear this phrase and especially the word faggot. Yesterday, I was with family and my cousin, out of nowhere, said "this faggot," referring to this boy who was afraid of him, I guess. Now I take huge offense on this but I wasn't able to do anything since I am not out to the fam bams. But it really irritated me, knowing a family member declared this offensive/degrading term just because. I wonder if he wouldn't have said it if I were out?

  • Great point! Yeah people misuse "gay" (and "retarded") way too much. I agree with you and you should make a video in which you say something like "I challenge you to take this phrase out of your vocabulary. Tell your friends to stop every time they say it. Let me know how easy or hard it was to hold back from saying this phrase."

  • I think it is offensive the same way that saying "that's retarded" or calling someone a retard is offensive. I'm finally correcting my friends and relatives about calling something gay instead of stupid. But if you think about it, using stupid, lame (pretty much another word for useless) dumb and other words like it are demeaning also, especially when used to describe a person (although calling someone gay can be offensive depending on the context and tone, it isn't an offensive word).

  • @kaypgirl The difference between the words "retarded" and "gay" is that retarded already means "slow, delayed, etc." Gay doesn't have that kind of meaning. It simply describes same-sex attraction, and when you use it to mean "lame, stupid", you're adding a meaning that isn't there to begin with, unlike with the word "retard".

  • @RLSteve Good point, I hadn't realized that.

  • Hmmm so why do people refer to gay as a "sexual preference"? I would prefer "sexual orientation" since it wasn't a preference for ME. I didn't choose to be this way or wake up one day and say "I think I'd like to be GAY today". I've ALWAYS been gay so just deal with it. I'm glad I'm GAY and definitely would prefer NOT to be straight. So there.

  • Ok....seriously...

    What the fuck.

Why the fuck is "gay" linked to someone's personal preference anyways it has a fucking definition WHY WHY WHY THE FUCK DOES IT MEAN HOMOSEXUAL!!

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE WHY IS IT CONNECTED.

    pointless and idiotic.

  • i also take offensively.

  • my friend say that all the time and i always tell her why must you always say that its stupid and all she has to say is i dont know, its so annoying

  • So glad you brought this up.-----It's here in the UK also and it is as you say so stupid.

A few examples I've heard recently--------Guys horse didnt win at the track-----that horse is so gay!!!!!!!

Coffee didn't come out of a vending machine-----that machine is so gay!!!!!!!

Friends car didn't start-----------this car is so gay!!!!!!!

I could go on and on.

    Thanks for bringing it up.

  • 3rd video ive watched today of his! Im subscribing!

  • I'm sorry for all these long messages, but I don't have any videos of my own to post, Brandon so i do apologize sincerely! But I suplport your channel 150% Keep up the positive message because Kids, that are gay, and scard, and even older men in thier 30s 40s need to know it does get BETTER......

  • If I listen to a Aguilera song, or even have a Brittany spears single on a burned c.d. and I'd be driving with me cousins or friends that isn't gay and at the time I wasn't out, they be like OMG take that fucking faggot song off now.... Just be cause you have the tongue to say stuff like that is doesn't make me like them alot more, if makes them like dumb, and and it didn't make them look good, and it made me feel really bad... So I know and I so am in touch with each video you post, because I

  • If I listen to a Aguilera song, or even have a britney spears single on a burned cd and I'd be driving with me causins or freiends that isn't gay and at the time I wasn't out, they be like OMG take that fucking faggot song off now.... Just be cause you have the tounge to say stuff like that is dosn't make me like them alot more, if makes them like dumb, and and it didn't make them look good, and it made me feel really bad... So I know and I so am intouch with each video you post, becuase I relat

  • I agree with Brandon. I myself don't like when my friends, and or just people in general say OMG that song is so gay... That shirt is so freaking gay.. And then I am a big big big music lover. I call myself a human jut box serioulsy.. So I listen to Christina Aguierla, Britiney, Mariah, Celine, Amy Whinehouse, but I also listen male artist such as Brian Mcknight" Craig David, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Chris Brown, Michael Bubble, etc. so if I listen to a Aguilera so in the car, I'm so Gay!

  • I'm not a homophobe in any way, but I get really pissed off when homosexuals get better treatment, or better protection from the government, because their different than everyone else, even though EVERYONE is different and according to the constitution, we are all allowed to equal protection. And "gay" means happy, not anything else, so I hate it when people make such an innocent and happy word(no pun intended) into something it's not.

  • you say "because" in the coolest way

  • That's so gay = That's so awesome!!!

  • @BIGlittleCohen you just made my day :) that was quite hilarious

  • homosexuals coined the word meaning happy. How do you know people aren't just saying "you're so happy" You can't mad for people coining a coined phrase.

  • @DrDungus

    You're wrong.

    Long:

The word 'gay' first shows in12th century, meaning 'happy' or 'carefree'. 16th century, it started meaning 'flashy', 'showy', or 'flamboyant'. By 17th it started meaning 'uninhibited by morals': gay woman =prostitute, gay man=womanizer (sexism was as big as homophobia then). By 20th century, some still used it to mean 'fun' or 'happy' (eg. "Gay Nineties")but most meant immoral, and soon meant 'homosexual'.

    Short:

Homosexuls didn't decide it meant happy.

  • @MerlinWinchester11 Yes gay suppose to be happy, and that's the real underlying meaning " WE AS GAY MEN" take the negativity humiliation, from friends, family co-workers-boss, pastors, and so on. We suffer a long duration of our time with finding our self, knowing we are looked at different in the public eye, and we as GAY man are not accepted in and among our families who don't understand it.. So when we come out and finally to say YES WE ARE GAY" WE TURN IT AROUND AND WE BECOME HAPPY GAYS

  • @LAChris101 I say that with pride, and as my home girl Tytra Banks the Diva of FIERCE says it Fierceness"

  • it just reality. the majority of Americans dont approve of gays. if they arent in a public setting the P.C. value will go down. so if they see , hear, or whatever anything negative they will say ,"that's so gay!" You know like queers.

  • I only take offense when the word is used incorrectly. If I were to see a guy in a Sugar Plumb Fairy costume complete with make-up, lipstick, and fake eyelashes, skipping around a park singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow and making out with every other man he sees along the way, my response would be something akin to "That's the gayest thing I've ever seen in my life."

But a bicycle, the color yellow, washing the dishes, the neighbor's pet goldfish, etc., are not gay.

  • This is so gay

  • your 100% right brandon, prople need to stop saying it. its more hurtful than anything else in the world. especially when its something that you identify with.

  • I say it all the time. Why? It has a duel meaning! people are ignorant to assume that the word gay only refers to a persons sexual preference. It's REAL term is "happy" Gay people are so fixated on themselves, so annoying. No one really cares that your gay, just stop flaunting it around like people actually want to see it. It's nasty, just in the same sense when straight people do it. Keep it in doors.

  • @ComeMonday5 i wish i could like this 1 trillion times more

  • @ComeMonday5 I can't walk 5 feet in my school without seeing couples getting it on. It's like a parking lot with every space filled by a car. Just replace the car with people dry humping and making out.

  • Some people can't help when they say "like" a thousand times per spoken sentence. To almost all people it's a habit of speech, and same with this. I say thats so gay out of habit and those around me always say it. Get over it man it's not gonna end it's just a phrase. Do I have a problem with gays? NO, but I still say it. When I say that's so gay I don't even THINK of homosexuals or gays when I say that. The phrase is entirely disconnected from homosexuality. I say you should just stop caring :P

  • those that are offended by it should really calm the fuck down.

  • Totally agree! There's nothing I hate more than this term!

  • I never really said much to begin with, mostly cause I thought it was stupid thing to say in general. Then once, not even thinking about it, I just said it when looking at something random in Walmart while with my girlfriend at the time and she completely flipped out and got mad at me. Obviously it was offensive to her. After talking to her about it (and apologizing), I've made sure not to say it. What bothers me is when folks refer to gay people as "Faggots"

  • Guy's don't say "thats gay" to prove how masculine and straight they are, they say it because its just become a popular phrase to use when referring to something stupuid or silly or lame, etc.. And nobody says it to offend you, it's like saying "wow thats retarded", it doesn't mean anyone's insulting retards.

God I hate when people play victim.

  • A song you may enjoy "People are People" by A Perfect Circle which was originally done by Depeche Mode.

  • to offend deliberately. But you got to understand there are people that have used the word for years with no intention of it to offend. Ive actually had this conversation with a gay dude that I know & he completely understood & didnt care at all. But if you do hear someone say it, don't be quick to assume that they mean it in a hateful way.

  • I would just like to say sometimes I say "That's gay" and when I do, it's not like in the back of my mind I'm thinking homophobic thoughts or ways to bring the gay man down. In no way shape or form am I homophobic nor racist. In fact I stand against it & support gay marriage & all that. In my opinion it has 3 definitions. 1 being sexual orientation 2 being happy & what not and 3 its not even necessarily 'stupid' more like disagreeing. There are homophobes that use it and when they do they use it

  • Thats so gay in Norway too.

  • It makes perfect sense. Because gay is stupid and wrong. So when something is stupid or wrong, I just shorten it up, save my breath and say "That's so gay."

Just like when I say "That's so Nigger" or That's so mentally challenged, or That's so handicap, or That's so Raven!

  • @GeoffreyBreakdown

-first point; gay is not stupid. you can screw urself if u think it is.

-second point; nigger? <racist much? -mentally challenged? handicap? <ever think that those people can't help it? how bout you try being mentally challenged, black, or handicapped and see what u think when people make fun of you?

-you think you're so cool just cause you make fun of other people for things they can't help? you're so stupid. you're so wrong. as you would say, "you're so gay."

  • @GeoffreyBreakdown Lol! That's so Raven!

  • That's right, "Gay" originally has no connection with sexual orientation. It means "happy" or "joyful." So if you're gay, it doesn't mean you are queer. Your message to not use drugs and stay in school defies logic when you are promoting the most deadly lifestyle known to man.

  • Comment removed

  • I get offended by it too, especially when my friends say right in front of me and I'm like really? I think some guys say it because inside that are gay and are denying it

  • @coverchenko That's right and we're using OUR FREE SPEECH to point out how stupid and bigoted using 'gay' in that way really is.

  • I hate it when people say it too. Somehow we need to break them of their bad habit.

  • I'd bang you so hard.

  • @fernandopox word

  • @fernandopox Got Aids Yet?

  • I have a sister that's gay and it annoys the living CRAP out of me when people say that. I mean, they're like insulting my sister and EVERY gay person out there. I mean its just like SERIOUSLY guys?

  • im gay and i use that saying daily, as well as fag and other shit, im out idc i just think its fun to say

  • @xxpenguinxxboyxx

    You're a self-loathing idiot!

  • also "fag" is pretty offensive & should be like unconstitutional...

  • The only girls I hear say "That's so gay" are the ugly wannabe sluts who can't get guys so are jealous of gay guys who can. And then the guys who say it... Well... They're just making themselves seem even gayer.

  • That's so gay. That's retarded.

How? How the hell is it either of those things??

I hate people who say they aren't judgemental of those things when they say that so often. If you aren't like that then don't say it!!

    Stupid != Gay != Retarded

    Simple as that.

  • If I called someone on using the word,I'd be a hypocrite because I say like ten offensive things a day. However, I have no right to be annoyed at people being offended because I call people when they use terms like "cotton-pickin'" "gypped" and "Indian giver", though those terms are usually used by older generations.

  • ok this video is gay. gay first of all meant happy until homos decided it meant homosexual so before you start bitching and complaining about how other people are missusing a word stop and use that tiny messed up brain of yours of how your not even using it right technically. its not a big deal so shut up please! :) also learn to be open-minded and accepting of what people want to say. thanks

  • @sportsfreek2121 Go on wikipeidia, and look up "gay." I thonk you will find that the homosexual people didn't just "steal" it so that people didn't need to describe them with a five syllable word, it happened naturally the same way English became the most clusterfuck language on the planet: gradual processes over time

  • Girls do say it, and I agree with you

  • Thanks so much for bringing this topic to light. A young person talking to other young people just may get the point across. I find the phrase totally offensive, and have been cursed and hated by people I criticize for being so immature and insensitive.

  • GIRLS DO SAY THAT'S SO GAY LOL

  • Great topic, I dont really have much to say on the matter, it's the sane everywhere I think, it's used a lot over here in the UK, it's used all to often and I've just grown a custom to it... I think when people use the word 'gay' as an insulting word, they're trying to say, I don't know, that it's being 'different' ??

Anyway I've adjusted to this saying, and if I'm in the situation where someone would say "oh it's being gay!" I instead say "oh it's being straight!" it gets a few laughs here an

  • olbviously the people who associate gay with being stupid or lame need to read a thesaurus and stop being so ignorant grow a brain cell and think before they speak anyway great video!!!! adios amigo

  • ok first off i agree with you to a point but to my understanding the word gay originally meant happy as in someone would say "you seem very gay today" meaning you seem happy today. so is it ironic or hypocritical that you are offended by people changing that words meaning when the word has had its meaning changed before? i don't know who changed the word to mean homosexual but that was not what i understood too be the words original meaning. i know its not the same thing but food for thought

  • i agree so much i hate it when i hear it and i hear it so often especially at my workplace,

ur a great guy keep up the vids. love u

  • I was just thinking about that today at school and how irritating it is. I never understood how this phrase came to be cool or popular. I think it's just to show how insecure they are with themselves and it really makes me mad. Thanks for the video loved it :)

  • It gets me annoyed when sumone says it seriously...my friends tell me it to c wut I do bt they are playing around other people do it just to be ignorant and blantly disrespectful to us...they really need to stop and find a new phrase

  • As a gay asexual, I actually don't find it offensive... I just find it confusing and stupid. I don't know how something being bad or stupid equates to being homosexual. It just confuses me and I laugh when people say it.

  • @HammerOfPink couldnt have said it better thants whats up hammer

  • In Guatemala is common too but in spanish there is a lot of this "eso sono gay", "que hueco sono", "Todo maricon" but if you say dont say that they told you "gay!" so yeah its a way to speak but its ofensive like when someone whant to insult a man they told him womman (sorry about my english)

  • Just tell people to buy a dictionary and a thesaurus. Gay doesn't mean lame, and they are not synonyms.

  • even in the Netherlands, which is called the most gay-friendly country of the world, they use that phrase... I really hate ppl doing that and I don't understand that those ppl don't see how they are insulting other ppl.

(sorry for my english, I'm dutch as you would probably already have noticed)

  • i used to say it accidently im not joking it always used to slip out nd inn my head i always thought " why did i say that? "

  • Girls at my school say it, but not half as much as the boys...interesting point.

It is a stupid phrase, because like you said it doesn't even make sense. Where did this even come from?? It's weird how the use of language spreads: that's cool...that's so lame...and now that's so gay. What?!

Some people are fine with the phrase and others aren't. I think out of respect to the people that aren't okay with it, people shouldn't say it. Just my opinion.

Hope you have a great day,

    Jade

  • You know, there's a saying in my language which goes (translations never work right) "Are you baptized?", the meaning being literally "Are you normal?". Of course it's offensive to members of certain religions and atheists, but it comes from a long history of Catholicism. I'm not saying it's right, just that xenophobia is an everpresent part of society. Still, just as the saying above can now only be heard from preWW2 generations, I believe "That's so gay" is also entering its years of decline.

  • that phrase is not really used anymore where I live and I dont see it as offensive because the word gay has changed so much throughout time and the people saying it are ignorant to the connection between gay and gay people besides sometimes people just need tougher skin cause thats so gay is not the biggest battle needed to be fought
