  • the erution was in 89 AD not 1944..o.O

  • @ceevzz This wasn't the 79 AD eruption. There was also an eruption in 1944, which is the one here.

  • @ceevzz No, the most famous one was in 79 AD, this is the latest one o.O

  • @ceevzz It was in 79 AD...And, yeah, they had movie cameras and all back in the day...Fuckin idiot. This is the 1944 eruption caught on tape by American US Army and Air Force camera crews.

  • the creator is smoking!

  • It attempts to be the focal point of everything; like some kind of black hole...

  • I thought the last time Vesuvius blew up was 79 ad... ??? I watch the "Last day of Pompeii, and at the end, it said it only blew up around every 2000 years...? I don't know

  • @Jojogirl641 Ad 79 to 1944 is very close to 2000 years...

  • Any one else laugh at that this video links to a Waterskiing squirrel? XD

  • to all those people saying that vesuvius errupted in 1944. it didnt. its just that since 1944 there has been signs of the volcano coming to life again. signs that it could errupt very soon.

  • Ive been Up that

  • Nessun posto in Italia ha bellezza, storia, arte, cultira, mitologia come la Campania. Un posto magnifico. Saluti da "LEI ERA MIA" di Valerio Minicillo

  • oooh... ITN = ATN = Aton = Atonism

  • ok grz

  • Just saw the Pompeii Exhibition- highly recommended. Informative and poignant- most memorable.

  • yes in 1979 was

  • Yeah too bad this isn't Vesuvius, because it erupted in the year 79 AD!

  • You do know Vesuvius is still active today...Right?

  • Vesuvius erupted in 1944 btw.

  • volcanoes can erupt more than once in history you douche

  • that's true but he also erupted in 1944

  • wtf? r u retarded? check ur info b4 u comment. Mt Vesuvius has erupted like 40 times since pompeii (79 AD)

  • @TheJUGGALOJeff Hey guess what it erupted 2000 years before AD 79 and in AD 203, 472, 787, 968, 991, 999, 1007, and 1036. Then it was quiet till 1631 a deadly eruption claiming 3000 lives occured. Then again it erupted in 1660, 1682, 1694, 1698, 1707, 1737, 1760, 1767, 1779, 1794, 1822, 1834, 1839, 1850, 1855, 1861, 1868, 1872, 1906, 1926, 1929, and 1944. This is footage of the 1944 eruption so Vesuviu didn't just erupt in AD 79 its just the most famous eruption.

  • no no matter exsplosive force

  • is it possible to set off an eruption with a bomb?

  • wtf?

  • wtf? x 2>

  • ci furono 24morti tra kui 12 a napoli,9nel mio paese cioè pagani e 3 a terzigno

  • si è terribile....ma è anche parte della storia di napoli...by Deborah in Napoli

  • it is terrible to watch these images and realize now that i live on these ruins!!!!!

sorry for my english if it isn't perfect!

  • Comment removed

  • Eerie, especially without the sound. That cloud at 3:54 is big, but there have been eruptions of other volcanoes which have dwarfed this one.

  • I thought the last time Vesuvius erupted was in 79 A.D. I just read about it in class last week :/ odd

  • Doesn't Magica De Spell live there? =)

  • yes Magica von tryll lives there ,.

  • I must ask,. is vesuvio, and Mt st helens the same type of volcanoes? and could Vesuvio explode in the same way?? I just saw a Programme on discovery, about vesuvio, and the governments told the team making the programme that they will evacuate naples in 7 days before any eruption, cause they belive it wont suddenly erupt violently?? what if they are wrong in this,?? what if he just goes Boom like st helens?? then what ?

  • then at least they were better safe than sorry.

  • then about 1 million of people will die xD, luckly i don't live in red zone but vesuvius is only 12km far...

  • they say that vesuvius will have an eruption like the one in 69 A.D. you know the one that killed ancient pompeii leaving it in ruins

  • the vesuvius can erupt about a vieuw years. I hope that napels ready is For the Eruption.

the last time that vesuvius erupts is in 1944.

  • 1944? :O i thougt it was waaaaaaaaaaaay much longer back in thehistory!

(Im swedish, sorry if i spell bad xD )

  • commè amate il vesuvio? ma sit sciem?!?!?!

  • Imagine: You're a mouse enjoying a nibble in ancient Pompeii when the walls explode around you and you are swamped in an instant by superheated gas and ash.

But ahh, now you have been found and can live for eternity as a plaster cast in a Pompeii museum...

    watch?v=Y3RlcP8yUPo

    Pompeii mice! Volcano vs mouse.

  • ive been on the top of the vesuvius . near the town pompei . its very cool 2 see that

  • DUUUUUUUUUUUDE!!!! thats crazy!

  • Oeeeeh I like it :)

  • I live near the vesuvius and every day I'm afraid 0_0

  • @25844 I just heard that it might Barst out again in 2000 I am afraid o_o Although I live in Belgium.

  • @TheLPS2000 This will help to calm me down -.-''

  • @25844 lols why live there then

  • @25844 apparantly its gonna blow in about 20-40 years...along time but still, so much destruction...

  • I was in Sorrento at the end of August and drove through Naples and when that puppy erupts big time alot of people are going to die. Sad, but true. Stupid place to build a city, but hey, the Americans build theirs on fault lines! Bye bye San Francisco!

  • @20binyon Yes but fault lines don't erupt, burn you to death and then freeze you in time as a warning to others to never build there again.

Naples is a mega disaster waiting to happen.

  • noob

  • Great footage! It's about to blow!!!

  • Nice footage. Didn't know the last eruption of Vesuvius (1944) was filmed.

  • My Father was there in Napoli when it erupted in 1944 great footage thanks always wanted to see this

  • Back in 79 when this bad boy went off everyone within 10km instantly went deaf. Thats fairly loud.

that would have been something to see.

    Awesome footage here

  • Anyone thinking of Pompeii again?

  • I love Vesuvius..but fear Rainer...I believe she is next

  • Mount Vesuvius erupted long ago burying a whole city under ash and smoke in Italy.

  • Thanks for posting this. I'd seen photos of the 1944 eruption before but never any actual footage. Small potatoes compared to AD 79 but still pretty spectacular, not to mention destructive.

  • i would love to watch vesuvius erupt from a safe distance

  • for me not in B+W

  • si tenta vivere in napoli

  • great footage.

  • DANG!

  • now lets compare the 1944 eruption which is supposedly one of the smallest vesuvius eruptions to the ad 79 one. that be one hell of a footage to see an eruption like the one from nearly 2000 years ago.

  • go with the pyroclastic flow

  • holy fucking shit

  • yes

  • Che spettacolo!!!
