Hi im v interested in this radio and keen to find one for sale i beleive they are the best? what is it you are listening to here, i hear the carriers but what are they ?
Correct limits (official) limits of ELF is 1 Hertz to 30 Hertz. Receiving 10 KHz proves nothing. Megawatt stations transmitting SLOW CW to submarines use 10 KHz range. Resonance of planet earth is 7.1 Hertz and earthquakes rumored to send out freq of around 2.5 Hz. Audio freq but it is possible to transmit RF in audio freq range (like 2,5 Hertz). Antenna too large to make it directional. Yes, lightning whistlers are interesting to listen to - just natural product of nature. All normal.

i have this scanner the +3 model , try useing a long wire att" down the garden , about 30 ft if you can , and scann in upper side band , around 5kzh to 9 kzh , and you should get aircraft at long range, usaf" ect , i do , im in Ireland , and i get them 1500miles out to the west. with the long wire att, nice scanner"
We are talking about radio frequencies not audio frequencies.. Radio uses electromagnetic waves. Audio freq uses vibrations and sound pressure waves that can be heard by humans. Our ear drum responds to these but not electromagnetic waves. Hope this helps.
@itakeyourphoto Hi, have you got or built an ELF EMW transmitter...stick it next to your head and watch how your emotions change after lock on, turn up and down within range...close your eyes and you may even pick up freaky creatures with big heads and bug eyes.
@SASNIGHTCRAWLER Hi! I am going to build a transmitter for those frequencies as I have an interest in ELF. Its known that elf waves can and do affect how you feel and your emotions. Im sure goverments have done many experiments along those lines. I may try it once my transmitter is built..
@itakeyourphoto Hi m8, look for this site, tap in ..Effects of 6-10 Hz ELF on Brain Waves by David S. Walonick He has written a paper on the subject///he speaks about a lab test he did on a number of people he knew, and even a dog, with amazing results...check out the paper...if you cant find it i will give you the link in a mail... oh and btw...check out Youtube coast to coast HAARP there is a 16 part vid on it, this guy goes on about all the effects. Regards
@itakeyourphoto more brain food for you...ailien implants remaved gave off frequency of 14.75 Mhz ish....i know 14.6Mhz was used by Canada in their time signal...but they finished or shut it down a while ago it i think, check out the frequency allocation list. Thise government guys are fkn about with stuff they shouldnt be..abuse in the name of national security and research? they work for us, not the other way round...ide knock them the fuck out if i could find em...lol
Hi. Yes I was supprised that the radio actually receives down that low. Before the 5000 the only other receiver that received down there was the SDR-IQ. Every other radio I tried just suffered from BCB overload.
Using the SDR-IQ I can see lots of unidentified signals below 10khz and spherics from time to time. 73s
That's cool! It's amazing that that radio goes that low. I use either a crystal oscillator transmitter or a BT878 tuner card. The BT878 goes down to as low a frequency as 1/length of recording and up to 448 kHz.
did you know the moans of whales are elf and vlf i bet if put your antenna in the ocean you would hear them (theoretically speaking)

This video is interesting.
40 & 60kHz are JJY (Japanese standard time signal station).
40kHz is for east and north part of Japan, 60kHz is for west and south part of Japan.
Japanese government announces that workable distance is 1000km (40kHz) and 1500km (60kHz).
I am surprised the JJY can be received in Melbourne.
Distance is over 8000km!!

But is there a person transmitting in such low frequencies? I didn't hear any signal from a station or someone during this scan.
